I couldn't resist!

You may have seen a card I did a few weeks ago using the wax resist technique and an embossing folder. Well I had some good advice on using different card and maybe getting different wax paper, and I am much happier with the results I got. In fact I have used this on a couple of cards you will see in later posts, as I can't resist doing this magical technique.
For this card I used it on the two panels and on the nestie. The seam binding is a more subtle colour than in the picture, but I can't get it any better! The stamp is from Gala event by creative expressions and the sentiment is from SU. I've used my new latice die for the background.

Game on

I've used the Forever Friends retro collection Cdrom disc set for this card. I did all the background layers on the PC, matting and layering and adding the strips. I then printed an extra copy of the bear and cut around him to mount on foam pads to give some dimension.
I'd like to enter this card into CD Sunday challenge- game on and Charisma Cardz Challenge - no embellishments.

All laced up

I saw Sue Wilson do this lacing technique between two spellbinder dies the other day. She used a sentiment as the focal point, but I thought it would look good with one of her corset stamps, and so this is the result. The background I made by inking with TH peacock feathers ink and then stamped the peacock feather from the same corset set, I then ran it through a trellis embossing folder.
I'd like to enter this card into Crafty Catz Weekly challenge - Ribbons and bows and Anything goes Challenge - make your own background.

Let's party snippets

If you ever look at the cards in M&S you may have seen something similar to this. Every time I stand in the queue it seems I see it and I think I could make a card like that! So a quick delve into the snippets box, a Clarity lady I had stamped and coloured previously and here it is. All put together on a preprinted card ( I have a stack of those too!).  Not sure about my umbrella - Would Di wear it in her hair - probably the best test LOL!
See you in the playground over at Pixies Crafty Snippet Challenge #35. Oooh just to mention there is no alcohol in the glass, otherwise Di might not let it in the gates, especially after the fight to wear the high heels I brought last week.

LIM week 82 - recipe 3-2-1

The challenge on Less is More this week is 3-2-1 - nothing to do with Dusty Bin! (Do those of you in the UK remember that?). Anyway, I am pleased as I have yet again managed to combine the challenge with the use of some stamps that haven't seen ink. They are from a set called Time I won them from the lovely Bev of Uniko Stamps and they are her own design. Pop over to her site as she also has super free Saturday......
I used TH inks pumice stone, vintage photo and antique linen. I stamped directly onto the card apart from the watch which I stamped and cut around and then mounted onto the card with foam pads.
I've used :-
three cogs
one watch
and the word "Times" twice

I have finally got a referral to the hospital for my vertigo/vestibular migraine for October. Luckily I am in a private health plan so have been able to make an earlier appointment for early September. I ventured into Town this morning as I have been getting my hours up at work and managed 5 hours a day this week, with not too many problems. I started to feel sick after being out for about half an hour, and then at the top of the escalator in M&S everything went round just before I got on it. I was fortunate that there was no queue behind me as it was early, because I had to step back and get my bearings before being very brave and getting back on. Roll on the hospital appointment!
I'd also like to enter this card into Creative Inspirations Challenge - sentimental.

Cute Christmas

The challenge on CD Sunday this week is Cute Christmas. I've used some ancient backing paper and then some Hunkydory embossed card  - which I got last year and still don't want to use, but needs must!
The image is from  the "Snow much fun" cd rom featuring the work of Margaret Sherry which was free with a mag last year. I added a ticket tag brushed with some TH Ltd edition Christmas inks and a strip of ribbon and bow. Finally a light sprinkle of diamond dazzles on the edge of the bow and the lights for the tree. You can't see it but it is also over the Christmas wording.

Just for fun

The things a card maker gets asked to do! A lady had a boob job and her colleagues wanted to send her a card. They did suggest putting a pair of boobs on a card, but I thought this was a little more discrete and fitted the bill LOL!. I used a template that has  been around on the internet for ages and then added the two computer generated sentiments. The papers were free from a magazine and I thought the pattern looked the right size for the card. She liked the card - so alls well that ends well!
I'd like to enter the card into the challenges - Moving Along with The Times - shape up and Divas by Design - anything goes.

Shoe snippets

I borrowed a shoe stamp from a friend ages ago and made these shoes from snippets of paper. They sat in a box and I hadn't done anything with them. I am on a bit of a mission at the moment, to "use" things. So I also had some card blanks that I had forgotten about and the shoes teamed with the sentiment seemed to be perfect little cards. So I will be in the playground with three cards this week at Pixies Crafty Snippets challenge #34.

LIM week 81- Tearing

I have set myself a little challenge to use at least one stamp a week that hasn't seen ink! I'm off to a good start because this card uses three that fit that criteria. I used the Clarity background stamp and then the stamp which is just the corset by itself and cut it out and mounted it onto the background. Adding a little diamond sparkles to it as well. Everything is embossed with gold mirror embossing powder. And for the tearing I have torn mulberry paper.
I had sitting on my desk a little poppy resist that didn't quite fit a card I made previously. I hate throwing anything away, and I thought it could stand a little tearing. So, using a tearing ruler I tore around the image. I used a Clarity stamp for the verse embossing in red powder. I lightly inked over the wording with a TH Ltd edition inkpad Festive Berries (you know it is not just for Christmas LOL!). Finished with with a MS punched butterfly from the off cut of the tearing.
I nearly forgot, why all this tearing. It's the challenge over on Less is More this week.

Dressmaker snippets

This card is for Kaboodle Doodles challenge - friendship. I just found out I made their top 3 too with my last dressmaker inspired card for my friend - yipee!
I used an embossing folder and then inked over with TH spun sugar. The mannequin is a rescue from this card. I didn't get a good impression when I paper pieced it last time, so I cut it out so that the part of the form that didn't quite stamp is off the page -so to speak. I then also put some adhesive glitter film over the top. It was stamped on a snippet and the butterflies cut from the same paper with a MS punch. I added a little bit of some ribbon, I really don't want to use LOL! The sentiment is from the same Creative Expressions set as the mannequin. So this card also fits Pixies crafty snippet challenge #33.
I'd also like to enter it into Simon Says Stamp challenge - bingo line, ribbon, gems, punches.

Fashion

When I saw the challenge was for fashion at Craft-room challenge, I just knew I had to make a card, it is after all my specialist area LOL!. I had already stamped a dress from the Creative Expressions Gala set- I used the wax resist technique with a paisley folder, but I think I need to use different card as it hasn't shown up too well. The papers are from the renaissance collection by Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen and I used my nouveau embossing folder again on gold mirri card. The little frame is from the LLB collection too and I used of all things a sentiment from the Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit set, the font was just right and it fitted the frame.

LIM week 80 Fur or feathers- and a great get together

The challenge on Less is More this week is one layer card with fur or feathers. After a slight panic - I don't really do birds and my teddy bear stamp is not very LIM I realised I had this peacock feather stamp. I stamped in TH peacock feathers (had to really!) and shaded lilac then stamped the third one in black versamark. Added a sentiment from PTI which I thought suited the three theme.
I then had another go as I have a new embossing folder which looks to me like peacock feathers but is called nouveau.
I managed all of this late last night after a wonderful day out with some great blog girls at Sally's house. I have been back at work on a part time basis this week, still not up to driving, so Sally very kindly fetched me and Lisa took me home.
Jules (Always with a heart), Lisa (My Makes n Me), Brenda (Floral Fantasies), Sally (Crafty Salutations), Meg, Sally's daughter (My Mind's Collage) and me (to be known forever more as the lady in blue - you had to be there for that bit! ). We skyped with Ruth from Passion for Stamps and Brenda had kindly bought Ruth's stamps for us to have a play with. Here are a couple of action shots although after the lovely lunch Sally provided and the cakes from her and Lisa together with Bucks Fizz we didn't do much.

Me with a cupcake!

Oriental

I was having a look through my stash when I came across some Meltdust paper. I haven't used it in ages so along with some iridescent meltdust powder I decided to use it on the image and background paper for this card. I printed the elements from the MCS That Special Touch cd rom. Another unused item is foam, so I decided to emboss a piece and use that to mat the image. I then went to town on using one of my spellbinders sets to accent the card. This is an 8x8 card so quite dramatic IRL. Here is a closer look at the glittery effect the meltdust powder produced.

CD Sunday bingo

When a friend told me she was getting a new sewing machine for her birthday I just knew I wanted to do a sewing themed card for her (not that I need an excuse to do them LOL!). I've used the new cd rom from Polka doodles - Studio 12 Picknix - all sewn up. I took the elements into Serif Craft Artist, added shadows and the metal effect to the mannequin. I used a sentiment from the cd rom and put my own greeting on the tag. I then added and coloured a sewing machine digi from Pink Petticoat, a piece of card run through a tape measure embossing folder and inked and some seam binding. I cut some of the digi buttons out and mounted them onto the card and the wheel of the sewing machine. Added three pearls and so it fits with the bingo grid challenge on CD Sunday this week. I used the line ribbon, sentiment, pearls.
I'd also like to enter the card into Kaboodle Doodles challenge - sisterly love. As the sentiment reflects this friend is very dear to me.

Snippet challenge 31

Di kept the gates of the snippet challenge open for two weeks, so I had time to enter with this card. I've used an embossing folder straight onto the cardstock, added a Flonz stamps sentiment, a little ribbon and lots of MS butterflies punches from bits of an old Cath Kidston magazine and snippets from my box.

Whiskers and/or wings at Penny Black & More

The theme this month at Penny Black & More challenge is Whiskers and/or wings so I chose as the main image a stamp from the Penny Black critter party set. The DT got to use some stamps from one of our sponsors Flonz stamps so I chose to use waves from the borders vintage set for the background stamping and the greeting is from the Best Wishes sentiment set.

I stamped the PB image and then inked through the nestie, mounting it onto a doilie, and added some watercolour pencils for the detailing. I used a Flonz border on either side of the image and then created a background paper from the same border and embossed it with a folder. I cut a strip from this to form a border further down the card. Added some butterflies using a MS punch. I then randomly stamped the border again over the cardstock to create the overall background effect.

I do hope you can join us this month to share your Whiskers/and or wings projects, just remember no digis!

LIM week 79 - blue and green

The challenge on Less is More this week is a colour one - use blue and green. I've used two poppy stamps from Clarity embossing them with blue powder, colouring with promarkers and then brayering over with Lettuce and stonewash blue. You can see a card I did with them here the other day in the  more usual red variation. This time I decided not to use the full height of the first poppy stamp so it made for a smaller 5x5 card. I mounted it onto the card and then with a blue stardust gel pen made a border. The sentiment is from Anna Griffin.

Digi Floral at Cardmadfairy challenge

The challenge on Cardmadfairy is to use a digi floral stamp. I loved working with the sheet of floral stamps (which you can buy here) from Jenni so much I ended up making two cards. I cut all the flowers by hand, but later realised I could have cut them with my silhouette - doh!
The first one I thought looked like the flowers were tumbling down a trellis, as I used the trellis embossing folder for the background. The second one is another embossing folder and this time I used the flowers to build a bloom onto the top of the leaf vine.
I do hope you will be able to join us in this challenge and I look forward to seeing what you make with your floral digi stamps.

Mainly Men

This card has been a while in the making. I printed off the stripped paper and background scene from MCS The Finishing touch cdrom adding the greeting in the cloud, at the weekend. I just couldn't figure out how to put the elements together and then yesterday I had an awful headache all day, and I had some new tabs from the Dr, but today I actually feel like me - yipee! I am hoping to go back to work next week on reduced hours although I won't be able to drive. So today, it came together at last - I brayed the background with Adirondack cloudy blue ink and used a Clarity stamp of Big Ben and part of the PB "I love London" stamp and bunting. I put the papers through the triboss union jack folder and added a PB image. I added a perspex tag over the greeting and a piece of "Best of British" ribbon.  This is for the challenge at CD Sunday - mainly men. Right, mustn't overdo it, off for a rest now.
