Time for tea

This is a card I made for my colleague at work for her birthday. When the going gets tough we often cry "time for tea" so I thought it was fitting for her. the image is from sugar nellie and the sentiment is from a Fee J Designs CD rom called fittingly "time for tea"!.
I'd like to enter this card into the challenge on Anything Goes challenge which this week is "anything goes".

Well I made all my cakes for the Halloween Cake Bake sale at work tomorrow in aid of MacMillian. I must admit I got a bit fed up decorating the gingerbread mummies, so some turned into ghosts which was much quicker! Here's a few of them.....
Spider cakes...
and cake pops - my first attempt and they didn't rise into balls, but they taste ok.

LIM week 91 - sketch 7

There's nothing like being a late adopter to something is there. I resisted pan pastels for so long and now I keep using them at every opportunity, this card being a case in point. I cut three squares and used a different shade of pan pastel on each. I then mounted them onto the card and stamped the image over the top with a versamark pad and rubbed over with a blue pan pastel. Then I added the PTI sentiment and little bird from Itty Bitty by SU using the same technique.
I love this image and first saw it being used by Merry and it took me some time to track it down but I got it from the USA along with some others in the series. However, I never really knew what I wanted to use it for until this card, so another stamp gets to finally see ink!
The card is for the Less is More challenge which this week is the sketch below.

I've had a busy week. I went to see a preview of a film called "The Sapphires" on Tuesday. If you get a chance to see it, then go, it is a great film, my friend and I really enjoyed it. It's about a group of aborginal girls who form a group and go to entertain soldiers in Vietnam, based on a true story it certainly opened my eyes to things I didn't realised happened.
I also have been on a baking spree inspired by the Great British Bake Off. These are custard creams from the book by the winner last year Jo Wheatley. I didn't have a square cutter so I made mine using what I had. A little bit like a shortbread and quite sweet, but they went down a storm at work.
Halloween cake bake sale next week at work - so watch this space!

Poetry corner

The challenge on CD Sunday this week is Poetry corner. I decided to use this poem which is on a stamp by Clarity. I used black detail embossing powder to give a nice sharp image. The papers are snippets from the Debbi Moore CDrom Shabby chic Victorian botanical which I used on a card a few weeks ago. I did have to print the butterfly and ladybird which I cut with spellbinder dies from the marvellous squares set. I also printed the piece I stamped the sentiment onto. it is meant to be an insert but I scaled it down and used a marvellous square to cut around it, it is one piece but because the printing didn't go to the edges of the paper it looks like it is mounted. I added the tag and used a PTI sentiment.
I'd also like to enter the card into:-
Ladybug Crafts Ink TLT challenge - need a Poem and poppies
and because I got to use a snippet - Pixies Crafty snippet challenge #43.

Majestic mountains

I want to try and do more "scenery" cards, so I am endeavouring to enter the challenges on Craft a Scene who this month want to see "majestic mountains". Ok, you will have to use your imagination a bit on this one.  I used a torn piece of paper to create the mountains, but I think they be a little washed out compared with the rest of the card. I used pan pastels to colour the card base and then stamped the various elements. There is a also a dead animal on the card! Cleverly disguised now I hope - I only went and dropped the stamp and I thought, I am not doing it all again now!
Thanks for looking.

LIM week 90 - Autumn

The theme for week 90 on the Less is More challenge is autumn.
I've had the pan pastels out again! I stamped leaves using the SU French foliage set and then cut out a leaf shape and stems from them with spellbinder dies. I then used the waste from the dies to ink versamark through with some cut and dry and sponged pan pastels over the top. I then used the verse and spot stamp from French foliage to do the same effect. The sentiment is from a Gina K set.
I'd also like to enter this card into :-
Polka Doodles - autumn
Allsorts challenge - autumn colours
Charisma Cardz challenge - clean and simple

Vintage buttons

The challenge on DYSU this week is vintage. I thought I would do a slightly different take on it by using this vintage button embossing folder and putting the digi  button heart from Cardmadfairy with it. I printed two copies and punched out  parts of the heart out with two different sized circle punches and decoupaged these onto the original image, adding glossy accents to those parts only. I then rubbed some gleams over some of the buttons. I cut around the digi image using my Silhouette so it has a nice crisp feel to it. I also used a vintage handwriting embossing folder to emboss the base of the card.
I'd also like to enter this card into the challenge at Sir Stampalot who want to see punches used.

I went to the dentist today and had my first filling since 1992! I was a bit scared as that is not the filling I have memories of.  I once had a filling in the 1980s where the injection didn't work, so the dentist gave me another one, which still didn't numb me. So he said it was all my own fault as I was too nervous for the injection to have taken effect, and he was going to drill anyway! Boy did I squeeze the dental assistant's hand. It was sooooo painful. I was younger then, if anyone said that to me today I would have told them where they could go LOL! I have a different dentist now and he apologised on behalf of his profession which was nice, and no it didn't hurt a bit today.

Got glitter

The challenge on Cute Card Thursday is to use glitter. I stamped this Greeting Farm image and then coloured with promarkers and added glitter for the bubbles in the bathtub. I cut one of the flowers from a piece of the background paper and mounted it on foam pad.

Christmas in purple and white

I took this photo on the Winter Wonderland challenge as my starting point. Using the colours as my inspiration.
I love purple so this was a good excuse to play, however, this is now the last of my purple mirri card boo hoo! Only some tiny scraps left now. I cut a mat with spellbinders resplendent rectangles in white card and embossed in purple the baubles and sentiment from Gourmet rubber stamps. I then used one of the smaller rectangles and cut it in half to mat with purple either side (trying to conserve the mirri card!). The ribbon is IRL almost a match for the mirri card but it doesn't look like it in the photo.
I'd like to enter the card into these challenges:-

Winter Wonderland challenge - photo inspiration
Ooh La La challenge - Christmas sentiment
Creative Craft challenges2 - 3 of something - baubles.

I actually made this card first and went all out using a big piece of the mirri card, but the embossing wasn't really to my liking.
I then decided to create this using one of the spellbinders marvellous squares dies and the same sentiment.

Leaves are falling.......

The challenge on CD Sunday this week is Autumn. I've used Debbi Moore cdrom Autumn Glow for all the printed elements. I cut out of glitter paper the mount using one of the resplendent rectangles by spellbinders and the sentiment die. The die along the bottom and the leaves are from memory box. I stamped the background using a big and juicy foilage pad with a Gina K leaf stamp.

LIM week 89 - wings and Liverpool!

It's one layer week at The Less is More Challenge this week. I decided to use my cosmic shimmer spray inks and pan pastels. The second card I actually made first but it didn't turn out quite as I expected. I masked the card leaving a circular shape and sponged pan pastels through. Then I stamped the Gina K stamp in TH tumbled glass. For the other card I cut a spellbinder butterfly die from scrap and spray mounted it over the SU butterfly stamped in TH Victorian velvet, I then masked off the rest of the card and sprayed first with blue cosmic shimmer and then gold. SU sentiment to finish.

Edited to say - Here it is with a sentiment added - slight mishap with the ink but I think it passes for movement under the wings of the bird!

We went to see Dirty Dancing the musical at the Liverpool Empire on Friday night and stayed over, taking the Magical Mystery Bus tour yesterday - the tour was so interesting I would really recommend it. I never got to do many touristy things when I have been to Liverpool before as I was always there on business so it was nice to do some different things. I learnt all about Strawberry Fields!

I realised when I was publishing this that there is a connection with Wings and Liverpool as of course Paul McCartney's band was called "Wings"!!!

Peacock tag

This is the inspiration photo on Cupcake Inspirations challenge this week. I've used some new peacock stamps and also pan pastels, my first time using them, and I can now see why everyone is raving about them! I only have three colours as two of the others are out of stock, so I used those to create the tag background and rub over the images. The background card is from Hunkydory.

Simply cute

I made this card base using one of my new dies for the Grand Calibur. My first attempt and I think it worked out ok. I then cut another die from the same set for the mat. This cute bride and groom are part of a stamp set from Nutcrafts. I'm not sure they sell them now, but have a very similar couple in digi format. I then just used a TH spun sugar pad to lightly edge the card and die.
I'd like to enter this card into Paperplay challenges - simply cute.

Vintage with dies

I'm having a bit of a play with the cosmic shimmer mists at the moment, so here they are again. This time I sprayed them through a key mask. Then I coloured the stamped image with promarkers put the card together and then decided to spray the whole card again. I have had this stamp for a year or two and this is the first time I have got around to using it. I think this is the card it was waiting for LOL!
I'd like to enter it into these challenges:-

CD Christmas

I've only just got this MCS cd rom called "Christmas With My Craft Studio". So when I saw the challenge on CD Sunday was Christmas I decided to use it straightaway! I printed the elements and then added a little diamond dazzles. Another new purchase is the TH tinsel twine, it's very sparkly, the picture doesn't really do it justice. I've used one of the Marvellous Squares from spellbinders to cut the main mount from glittered paper and then a fancy tag for the sentiment.
I'd also like to enter this card into Crafty Sentiments Designs challenge - anything goes.

The Dressmaker

When I saw the challenge on Crafty-emblies was The Dressmaker, of course I knew I would be entering. But which of my many, many images to use. I decided to use a die I got from Sue just before she emigrated. I've embossed the card base with the tape measure folder, then embossed some paper with the vintage buttons folder and used cosmic shimmer mister over it. I've used some stamps from the Creative Expressions sewing set. The cotton reels and sentiment are from a magazine download and were left over from a project some time ago. The hat box and shoe, dress and stand are all cut from my scrap box. So I would also like to enter this card into Pixies Playground challenge #41, I have to admit to bunking off for a couple of weeks as Miss was away and I never got round to entering, so hopefully all my playmates will let me back on the swings!
It was the OHs birthday today. We went to a Brazilian restaurant Tropeiro, they just keep coming round serving you meat from huge skewers, boy were we podged afterwards, but a great experience.

Penny Black sketch

Yesterday was World Card Making day and the Penny Black blog had some challenges. One of which was to use this sketch.

This is the card I came up with using my newly acquired A4 spellbinder m-bossibilities folder and part of the new spellbinders marvellous squares. I think they might just be my fav dies at the moment.I used some SU cardstock and then lightly inked over the embossing with memento inkpad Paris Dusk.

I'd also like to enter the card into Divas by Design who want to see "texture" for their challenge.

Animal Magic at Penny Black & More @ Allsorts

Our theme over at Penny Black & More @ Allsorts this month is "Animal Magic".  I think it is pretty magical that these two mice can use a toaster LOL! They are from the " micey day" set 30-028. I used a new Celtic die from Tonic, not seen a pattern on a die like this before and I really like it.. I used it to cut the image and then cut again from patterned paper, but removed the inner circle. I've also used some washi tape which is the black spotted border. The sentiment tag is a spellbinder tag but I cut off the fancy bits to make it more manly!
Thanks for looking and do join us with our challenge this month, my teamies have made some beautiful cards for you to look at.

LIM week 88 - Silver

The challenge on Less is More this week is "silver". I have used two dies from the Spellbinders Venetian Accents set and sprayed them with C&C silver glitter. The sentiment is from a set of Debbi Moore venetian stamps - so I thought the theme carried on! I added two tiny bits of bling to the sentiment. I also scored a frame - but it doesn't show up too well in the photo.
I'd also like to enter this card into these challenges:-
Simon Says Stamp - glimmer and sparkle
Charisma Cardz - Bada Bling
Fab n Funky - no patterned paper

It's a sign!

I  bought this mask in the summer and had all sorts of ideas for it, which have now deserted me! So I simple placed it onto an 8x8 card and spritzed ink through it. I used a fiskars sentiment stamp for the sign. The butterfly is one I cut with a die from Brenda and unfortunately it didn't quite cut through all of the card. But I decided with some C&C iridescent spray it looked ok with those bits left in. This was after I tried to cut them out with a craft knife......
I'd like to enter this card into Papertake Weekly challenge - anything goes theme, and Crafts and Me challenge- My Sentiments Exactly

Tea Time

The challenge on CD sunday this week is Tea Time. I've used a cd rom called Time for tea by Fee J Designs, however I understand the company is now called Jammipanda, which makes no brand sense to me!
I printed out the elements and used the cup to tile in MCS to create the background paper.  I also cut out an extra piece of cake and decoupaged it onto the recipe. The sentiment is a PTI stamp.

The Strongman

I've used The Strongman by Mo Manning for this card and coloured with promarkers. I've used labels 28 - but omitted the bottom part and then fancy tags 2 but cut off the fancy filigree bits to make it more male friendly! Faith had used it and I just loved the image so I went and got it too for the OH birthday coming up.

I'd like to enter the card into these challenges:-
Charisma Cardz challenge - Something for the guys
I Love Promarkers challenge - A male theme
