My bedroom style

Mulberry & Plum Sliding (walnut)

Those of you who are regulars to my blog will know of my love of purple. Heart Home Magazine have joined forces with Betta Living to give readers a chance to win £200 John Lewis voucher to those who create a Pinterest board and a blog post about their bedroom style.

So I've applied my design skills to create "my bedroom style". My starting point are the wardrobes above from Betta Living. I'm going to combine them with some chic purple and black & white accessories.

You will also know that I am a fashionista and so these vogue covers will be framed in a simple silver edged case and hung on the walls.

This fabulous wallpaper from Betta Living  by the fab designer Lawrence Llewellyn Bowen will be a great contrast to the wardrobes, and this vintage storage will add to the chic fashionista look I want to achieve

from one snippet to this!

In common with everyone in the Snippets playground I don't like to throw anything away. I had this little die cut bird left over from another make and I thought I will pop him on a spellbinders branch (cut from an SU snippet) and that will be that......... sometime later, I have made a background with silkies and Sheena stencils and this is the result. The sentiment is cut from an old Liz Earle brochure I kept - and the colours just matched. I drew the little birds by hand.
Ok- what other snippets have I got...........

Nursery Times at Ooh La La challenge blog

It's time for a new challenge at Ooh La La challenge blog - this time my teamie Sue has chosen the theme of Nursery Times. I've used this ooh la la cdrom for my DT card - Nursery Times
I chose to use the Queen of Hearts and decided to make my own sentiment of "Queen for a Day". I also found some perfect heart gems in my stash to finish it off.
Thanks for looking and I do hope you can join us for this challenge. If you need any inspiration remember to check the what the rest of the talented DT have done on the blog.

April Rudolph Day

It's Rudolph Day challenge over at Mo's blog - if you don't know what it is about, pop over and have a look - there is a die to be won this month and you get ahead on your Christmas cards.

For my card I've used one of my favourite Spellbinder dies and a snowflake and sentiments dies from Stampin Up. I just love the glitter card from SU and so not wanting to waste any I used the scrap to make this card. With a sentiment stamp from Crafters companion.
I used snippets from a SU workshop to make these cards (never throw anything away!) so I'm going to nip to the snippets playground with them and show Di as I know she loves the Spellbinders die too. Ooh that was close the playground gates were just shutting!

Blooming in pink

My card today is inspired by the photo challenge on Quirky crafts challenge blog.

I've used a spellbinders rose embossing folder for the background embossing and the layered embossing in the smaller pattern. I used a spellbinder die to make the header and the mounted flowers - this is a new die to me that I bought from someone and I really like the effect you get when you ink through the die. My stamped background is using an SU flower set.

I was lucky enough to win the Stamping Sensations challenge in February with this card and the ribbon on my current card is a small part of the generous £35 I had to spend at Little Claire's designs. I'm also entering this into the current challenge of pretty in pink.

Finally I'm entering into Crafty Catz challenge - it's a girl thing.

Quick and easy does it

The challenge at Allsorts is Quick and easy does it and you can't get quicker than this card. I have a friend whose sister loves glitter and so I usually make her birthday card for her. This one is just glitter so hopefully she will like it. I used an Anna Griffin stamp and a sentiment which I then heat embossed  using mica boss with glitter.

Penny Black & More mid month challenge reminder - birthdays

Just a reminder about our challenge over on Penny Black & More which this month is a nice and easy one - birthdays - cards I expect we probably make all the time. So if you would like to pop over and enter, you don't need to use a Penny Black Stamp unless you'd like to be selected as a GDT. We do though want to see stamping as the main focal point please and no digis are allowed.

I used Penny Black set summer fun for my DT card. I masked the card and used ink dusters to create the background and then stamped the images into each square with the sentiments underneath. I then coloured the images with spectrum noir pencils. Such an easy and quick card to do.

I look forward to seeing your cards and don't forget to stop by the blog and see the inspiration from the rest of the design team.

LIM week 219 - one layer splatters

I just love old typewriters and so when I saw yet another set of stamps with one - yes, I just had to get them. This one and the sentiment is from a Just rite set. The first typewriter I used at work was a little like this! My splatters are from visible image - I felt better about them being stamped rather than my own splattering! To me this conjures up the time before the digital age when we still had typewriters and ink wells and the accidents that could happen with them.

I stamped the sentiment just above the typewriter and then drew a rectangle so that it looks like a piece of paper coming out of the typewriter, if it wasn't one layer week I would have used an actual piece of paper.
I'm entering this into the challenge at Less is More for one layer splatters.

Lots of layers at Ooh la la Challenge blog

For my DT card at Ooh La La Challenge blog this time I have chosen to use the new Paula Oakley collection cdrom which launched last week.
As the challenge is lots of layers I chose to use the pyramid decoupage for this image - which if you look closely you can see! I've also added some other layers in the form of die cuts. The two background papers are also from the cdrom and I thought one of them looked like the tablecloth and then I finished with some lace edging for an afternoon tea feel.
I do hope you can join us with your "layers" this time, look forward to seeing your creations.

CAS @ CD Sunday

The current challenge at CD Sunday is for clean and simple cards. Now normally when I use a cdrom I print quite a few elements, but I managed to reign myself in and used this border and sentiment from Halycon Days by Crafters Companion-a recent purchase but I have wanted it for ages and could resist no longer! I used a tattered lace button die to make the buttons from some off cut from the printing.

I decided before making anything today I ought to have a tidy up - that was hours ago............ no new cards yet.

Easter @ Allsorts

I made a few Easter cards this year and this one was made with a free "Tatty" digi through a Tatty Twinkles group on Facebook. I used background paper (snippet from my last Easter card) and sentiment which were a free download from crafting.co.uk and a tattered lace panel (cut from another snippet),  I just got this die and it is fast becoming my favourite. I cut the elements out using my silhouette and coloured with promarkers. It's so long since I cut out any digis that I did wonder if I would remember what to do!

I'm entering this card into the Easter challenge on Allsorts challenge blog and the ink it up challenge on I love Promarkers then I am going to sneak into the Snippets playground and hope Miss Di hasn't noticed I haven't been playing along for a few weeks.

An Easter tradition the OH and I have is that we buy eggs for others before Easter, but wait for the half price ones after Easter for ourselves. Well - not an egg to be seen anywhere - so had to make do with Lindt bunnies :).

LIM week 218 - Predominantly Black!

I've had a terrible time trying to photograph this card. The black is overtaking the fact that there is a white background edge to the card, in the end I've put it on patterned paper to hopefully show this.
The challenge on Less is More this week is Predominantly Black! I used one of the new TH Runway stamps and a sentiment from a Stamping Bella set both stamped in SU white craft ink. I tried embossing in silver and other variations but this one seemed to work best. Then I cut it out using a Tattered lace decorative edge square, then I cut again to make the border.

Birthdays at Penny Black & More challenge

Happy Easter everyone. This month the challenge at Penny Black & More is "Birthdays" something we all need cards for - so I do hope you can join in. Remember we don't allow digis but you can enter up to 3 times and it doesn't have to be a Penny Black image. If you'd like to join us at a GDT then you will need to use a PB image.
For my DT card I've used PB Fantasy tree. I had some paper left over from my gelli plate creations and so I used that to stamp the tree onto and the background for the greeting which is from Fonzcraft.
The main background of the card is a crackle effect with two acyrlic paints - purple and silver, I thought it looked like the bark of a tree. I've then used two pieces of washi tape to attach the image. This is the same tape that I used last month to create the whole background of my card.
Thanks for looking and I look forward to seeing your creations. Don't forget to visit the blog and see the amazing talented teamies work too.
