Favourite Five Christmas Cards of 2015

Once again Debby has asked us to share our favourite five Christmas cards. These are mine - the one with the green bow even got the thumbs up from my friend's husband, so thought I must include that one!

Happy New Year everyone.

Following my blog - the changes

In 2011, we announced the retirement of Google Friend Connect for all non-Blogger sites. We made an exception for Blogger to give readers an easy way to follow blogs using a variety of accounts. Yet over time, we’ve seen that most people sign into Friend Connect with a Google Account. So, in an effort to streamline, in the next few weeks we’ll be making some changes that will eventually require readers to have a Google Account to sign into Friend Connect and follow blogs.

As part of this plan, starting the week of January 11, we’ll remove the ability for people with Twitter, Yahoo, Orkut or other Open Id providers to sign in to Google Friend Connect and follow blogs. At the same time, we’ll remove non-Google Account profiles so you may see a decrease in your blog follower count.

We encourage you to tell affected readers (perhaps via a blog post), that if they use a non-Google Account to follow your blog, they need to sign up for a Google Account, and re-follow your blog. With a Google Account, they’ll get blogs added to their Reading List, making it easier for them to see the latest posts and activity of the blogs they follow.

We know how important followers are to all bloggers, but we believe this change will improve the experience for both you and your readers.

~~~
The date for this to be in effect is Jan 11, but a number of my blogging friends (and me) have already noticed a drop in Followers.  I'm sorry if this causes any issues or inconvenience to any of my Followers.  I do hope that you will create a Google account so that you can continue to follow both me and anyone else who uses Blogger.
Once you create a Google account, you will need to become a Follower again because all previous Followers who did not have an account will be permanently removed from our Follower lists.  If you choose not to open a Google account, you can still follow my blog using Bloglovin' or via email.  You will need to check each blog that you currently follow to see what options they have for you.
I really appreciate all of my Followers and hope that you will continue to follow my blog going forward.
more Clarity
Following on from yesterday's post - here are the other cards we made at the Clarity workshop. Each workshop uses a single stamp, this time it was the Poppy stamp (lucky for me!)
I did the card above in the workshop and then at home did this version below - I don't have the same stamp but as I love poppies of course I had a poppy poem stamp. I also love the blue poppies so couldn't resist this variation. I also sprayed with a little cosmic shimmer so in real life the blue card has a shimmer to the main image.
 This one uses the shaving foam technique for the background.
 Paper piecing. I added some glossy accents to some of the flower heads.
 This uses the same technique as one of the cards yesterday, but this time we used watercolour card.
A little Clarity......
A few months ago I discovered that there is a Clarity workshop held in Nottingham each month. So myself and a friend were there like a shot! These are the cards (and one frame) we made at the first class. I was going to upload the others, but blogger is playing up - so they will may be appear tomorrow.
A Cool Yule @ CD Sunday
I've missed the last couple of challenges on CD Sunday and so I thought I really must make an effort for this one which is Cool Yule. I wasn't really in the mood for Christmas cards, but I got out my Makey Bakey Christmas cdrom and this is what I have come up with - two cards!
LIM week 255 and 256 Homespun
After seeing the challenge on Less is More for the next couple of weeks is Homespun I felt I must have a stamp that fitted the bill.
It turns out I had a few! - but this one from Crafty Individuals is the one that made it onto a card. I decided it went well with the gingham snippets I had, and then decided to add the little die cut border too.
BTW - the little house is one of my collection of various houses, I thought it looked fairly homespun.
I've been very lucky to have the card here featured in the Snippets Playground this week - thanks Miss Di. So I'm going to pop along with one too to show everyone.
Anything but Christmas @ Allsorts
The challenge on Allsorts is "Anything but Christmas" so a great excuse to break out my Tim Holtz runway stamps and create a little fashion show of my own!
I've used SU cardstock and a Tattered Lace die . Stamping and embossing in white with the main image cut out and mounted over the die cut. The background stamp is also by SU.
I'm featured on the blog On my Bookshelf today - together with my other book blog Booksimo. I'm doing a little giveaway if you want to enter using the Rafflecopter widget on their website.
mid month reminder for anything goes with a stamp at Penny Black & More challenge
Still time to enter our challenge over at Penny Black & More this month, lots of lovely prizes and as long as your card features stamping it's anything goes! Nice and easy for the lead up to Christmas as we know you are busy.
For my DT card I used a Marianne Die as the base and cut two circles with it, being careful to overlap them so that they formed a hinge. I then cut the die again to make the topper and used it to emboss the base. The background is brushos with the PB Poppy stamp being stamped onto another brusho background and cut out and placed over the second background.
This card here was my inspiration for the easel card.
Bauble snippets and some exciting news.......
I made this card using an adhesive sheet with a stencil laid over and mica powder applied through the snowflake stencil. Then I turned over the other side and removed the backing from the adhesive and applied gilding flakes. I used the same stencil for the base card. The baubles are from pieces of card from my snippet box and for the hanging chains I used a Tattered Lace stitches die. Two of the stamps feature Creative Expressions stamps which brings me to my exciting news.........
I made the Creative Expressions Design team! I am so excited and thrilled to be a part of this amazing team. I will begin my time on the team in January - so look out for my first post on 2 January. Every Saturday I will be posting my Creative Expressions projects.
Off to share this wonderful news with everyone in the Snippets Playground.
Ooh got so excited that I forgot to share a few photos from our visit to The Yorkshire Sculpture Park and some of the Poppies that were on display at the Tower of  London that are touring at the moment.
Christmas snippets
I'm entering this into the Snippets Playground challenge this week. Bit of a different snippet as the sentiment came from a Clogau Gold Christmas card I received in the post, just trying to get me to buy really, so I thought I could put it to good use.  I have a blogging buddy who this is the perfect greeting for (if you haven't got it yet and guessed its you!).
I decided to use a couple of snippets from the white card box and using a PB garland stamp I stamped all over with Creative Expressions flake and glitter glue and then added gilding flakes cutting out with a spellbinders holiday ornament die. I then drew lines with a glue pen and added some more flakes. Because there was a little bit of the outer image left around my sentiment I punched three snowflakes to finish the card.
CAS @ Allsorts challenge
I just love this little Angel die from tonic. I decided to cut her out in purple mirri card and then use the same card behind the Christmas part of my die. Although in the photo it looks like the card is ombre, it is in fact all purple!
For a little finishing touch but keeping it CAS I added some frost with a glue pen over "Christmas".
I'd like to enter this into the CAS challenge at Allsorts this week.
Anything goes with a stamp at Penny Black & More
Time for our December challenge at Penny Black & More.
For my DT card I've used these Penny Black items:-
A Splash of Winter 4272K
Die cut Pennant 51-032
Die Set Around Town 51-080
I began by creating a background using TH inks on glossy card I then embossed the trees but as the powder was melting I threw some frantage onto it and continued to heat until it was all set. I added a few lines of snow with a white pen. My sentiment panel and village dies are cut from the same background paper.
I didn't have a window die that was big enough for the scene I had created. So, I made my own! I took a piece of black card and cut four squares into it, I then cut a strip for the top of the bottom of the window and made a score line along it and then added some snow.
Thanks for looking and I do hope you can join in with our challenge. I know it is a busy time of year but we do enjoy seeing what you make.
LIM week 252 - Fruit
When I saw the Less is More challenge was fruit this week I wasn't sure I had anything that fitted. However, I remembered I have this Clarity Members stamp from a few years ago, which has never seen ink. So I got it out and then was still stumped. Luckily I found this lovely Emerson sentiment from a Creative Expressions stamp set of garden verses.
I inked through a Clever cut aperture with some TH spiced marmalade and then also applied to another piece of card, from which I used a spellbinder die to cut out the sentiment. I used some of the TH ink with water to colour the pears and then a promarker for the leaves.
Thanks for looking.
Vintage snippets
You might recognise these snippets as they are from the same paper pad I used up last week. This time I used part of a corner of a 12x12 sheet to cover the card but it didn't quite fit so I used some of the other elements to cover the gap. This card actually began with the trio of  stamped and paper pieced flowers on the right hand side which I made for another card, but they didn't look right so they've been sat on my desk until now.
Off to the snippets playground to see what's going on and whose on the swings.
I had a day out in London on Saturday with some friends. We had a champagne afternoon tea at Sketch - these were the toilets..........
Just when you think you have seen everything - you haven't!
