I scream for ice cream

It's time for another challenge over at Nutshells. Challenge #19 is to create a card inspired by . Summertime Fun - celebrate all the festivities of summer for this challenge and create a card or anything that makes you think about summer. This is my GDT card, using two of their new stamps. The only condition to the challenge, as always, is that you use a stamp or digi stamp that they sell over at Nutcrafters.com

I'm off to Lancashire today with work so won't be doing WOYWW.
Have a lovely day whatever you are doing.

"something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue..”

I'm entering this into the By the cute and girly challenge which is for "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue..”. The theme in my newly decorated room is blue and yellow. This frame is from Laura Ashley and I have had it since 2006 - decided to put a picture into it to match the frame and the room. I created the scene myself using my "new" My Craft Studio programme. I am so thrilled with this CDrom and I have only opened the "ladies" cd so far. Of course what hooked me is the dress form, and so it features on the first thing I have done. I loved picking all the little elements and resizing and recolouring them. I borrowed the idea from interior design that is around at the moment.
After I printed it out I daubed some yellow and blue inks over to lessen the starkness of the white card background.

Not forever friends.....

The forever friends challenge blog is asking for cards without a forever friends image this week! So I've used Tasha from Nutcrafters - I love her cheery face, she's probably got loads of stash in those bags LOL!
I've used one of my new vintage dies and cut it in half for the corners. Chrissie at Simply one of a kind uses these corners and they look so effective I thought I would give it a go, so be prepared for more. I do think it sets off the image nicely. I was going to enter another challenge that wanted pink and girly - but realised it needed to be a digi image and this isn't - oh well.

WOYWW 23.6

I'm a bit late posting as I only just got home from work. I decided rather than put it on a timer it was probably fairer to link later in the day as I can't visit anyone til I get home anyway. I know Julia will be reading this saying "there are no rules it is just for fun!"
Not much on my desk, my promarkers are in a bigger box because I have more of them now. Hobbycraft had them at half price £4.79 last week so I bought some more. I think I probably have all the "sets" now without getting into duplicates.
I have some PB stamps that were candy from the lovely Debbie at Passion for crafts and some mag free stamps.
Well off to get my tea and then I will back for a look at your desk.

An award, a card, fame, and my garden

This is an award I received from the lovely Kathleen at The Daisy Chain. Thank you.I need to pass it to 10 bloggers. As I gave a few awards out recently I would like anyone who visits to take the awards as you are all my friends and I don't want to have to choose.

I have made this card for two challenges. Bunny Zoe's Crafts challenge which is Nice and girly and The Sugar Bowl challenge who want you to use their sketch and have a theme of girly and feminine. The Sugar Bowl have relaxed their rule about combining challenges but you must still use a Sugar Nellie stamp which is why I got to use my fav image of Daisy. I also got to use two of my new Paula Pascaul stamps which I cut around with a nestie. The papers are K&Co from ancient stash!

My little bit of fame. I entered a competition for Papercraft essentials magazine late last year. They did say that anyone who did not win would be in the readers gallery at some point. I got a pack of foam tape from them with a comp slip telling me I was in issue 55. I went to two Newsagents and all they had was issue 56. I was telling Paula all this when I saw her on Tuesday and she said she might have it. She went through a pile of mags and I didn't think it would be there then we found the right mag but which issue was it? We both frantically searched the cover and shrieked when we found out it was issue 55 - this then left Paula in a lot of pain-sorry Paula! Anyway, here it is. It is the forever friends teddy card for a male.
I've been in the garden and thought I would share some more photos with you. The first is of an unusual type of Iris - my ex used to collect rare plants so I don't have anything that is run of the mill!
This ladybird I found hiding among the flowers and it was still there when I got back with the camera.
This next one is a bit of a mystery. When the flowers open, which they only do when sunny they are pointed yellow (not like dandelions but very thin petals) and then this dandelion type head comes out afterwards. Anyone know what it is, I don't remember it coming up before which makes me think
either the birds have dropped it or it is a weed.
It has taken far too long to do this post, mainly because of blogger playing up.

WOYWW 16.6

Back in my newly decorated room this week. I have a new white storage unit from Ikea and a wire stand - because I've only just got back in it still needs refining but I am almost there. Got to get the pictures back on the walls. The blind was literally fitted five minutes ago - you can't really see in the picture but it is blue with white spots and the walls are pale yellow.
On my desk is the Nutshells card (see previous post) and some papers I have printed from a mag website.

Fathers Day

It's time for another challenge over on Nutshells challenge blog. This is the card I have made for the GDT using one of their digis.
Challenge #18 is to create a Fathers Day card, any style or theme will pass the only condition is that you use a stamp or digi stamp that they sell over at Nutcrafters.com, and they have just released some great NEW Male digi stamps in time for Dads special day, One of which can be downloaded for FREE until Friday!
Unfortunately my Father is no longer alive but I will be thinking of him as usual on Sunday.

I'm also entering it into Cards for Men challenge who want to see Father's day cards.
I'll be back later for WOYWW.

Cupcakes, flowers and a box!

I made these today - Marshmallow cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery cookbook. They are filled with melted marshmallow - more like chewing gum when I tried to spoon it into the hollowed out cakes! I have made frosting so many times and for some reason today it would not thicken up so I had to go with it as it was. The stand I bought in Homebase yesterday for £7.99 - couldn't believe it as the cheapest I had seen them was £15. It is going on my desk afterwards to store crafty stash.
I took a few photos of flowers in my garden. The Aquilegias are almost finished now.

Some Poppies.

Alliums - another of my favourites, there were more than this, but the others haven't come up this year.
Finally the box I had on my WOYWW waiting to be made up. I did this at Victoria's class and she has the instructions for this and the cards inside, for sale on her blog (True Friend class). Victoria, if you are looking, yes, I know the front decoration is different to yours, but you know I don't do instructions LOL!

Free digi and awards

This lovely little fella is available as a free digi for one week only at Nutcrafters. They have two other designs suitable for Fathers Day/Mens cards so pop over get the free digi and see the other ones too. Look out on my blog for a card made with one of the digis as part of the GDT.

I have had three awards given to me over as manydays! So without further ado here they are:-

This is from the very talented Spyder (take a look at her blog and the lovely free images she has).
I'd like to give this to-

This one is from the lovely Lynne at Cards from Lynne's loft (and she really does craft in a loft!). I have to tell you 10 interesting things about myself (I am inserting a disclaimer here, as they may not be interesting but just weird!)
1. When I was little and I got new shoes, my Mum would always tell the shopkeeper that we didn't want the box. Now I see this makes sense as it is lighter to carry but I think this is why I now have an obsession with boxes and having them.
2. I don't like fairground rides. I did go on the teacups at Alton towers but that was scary!
3. Despite the look of my desk most weeks, I am very tidy in all other areas.
4. I don't have a middle name.
5. I had an early menopause when I was 33.
6. I can touch type.
7. I hold a 2nd degree in Reiki healing
8. I can't eat chocolate after about 7.30pm due to a hiatus hernia- you don't want to know about what happens if I do, let's just say it is enough to make me not eat it late.
9. I never took any language lessons at school. I did German at night-school to make up for it.
10. I've just bought a Wii fit!

I would like to give this award to the following fab blogs:-

This award is from photo savvy Glen at It's my Life. I have to come up with either 6 truths about me and one lie or vice versa, I will leave you to decide which I chose!
1.I speak 6 languages
2.I am ambidextrous
3.I see it as my duty to be a tidy crafter and set an example to other WOYWWers
4.I once swan the Channel
5.I was a child genius
6.I've eaten my body weight in chocolate for charity in 12 seconds
7.I taught Stella McCartney everything she knows about dress design

I'd like to give this award to:-

HOT, HOT, HOT and summer in colour

I know the weather if far from the title in this post! But these are the challenge titles over on Anyone for Anya and Fab n ' Funky this week.
I have had these two pieces of paper for ages and did not know what I was ever going to do with them, but they seemed perfect for these challenges. I've coloured Anya with promakers and used a stamp of some flip flops which I coloured to match. This card is much brighter in real life, especially against the SU Tempting Turquoise cardstock.

New monthly challenge

There is a new monthly challenge starting on Monday 14 June at Bunny Zoe's . She is also offering he chance to win a £25 gift voucher if you spread the word.

WOYWW

I'm camped out on the dining room table this week whilst the room I craft in is being decorated. Employing the push back and pile it high method at 10 points on the scale of 1-10 this week - I must admit I do keep losing things! Most of what you can see has featured on cards in the last few days. I have the instructions from Victoria's last SU class as I didn't finish or start my box - so want to get that done. The clear stamps are from My favourite things and the rubber ones are SU True Friend. A couple of craftrak cards part prepared with the vintage SU wheel.
As I am off work I should have plenty of time to visit today.
If you want to join in or see others desks pop over to our leader Julia at Stamping Ground.

All lined up Day 100 at 365 cards

It is so long since I got to play in one of the 365 challenges. I had this little dress template from Crafty templates and it fitted to so perfectly with today's challenge of all lined up, where you have to do three of anything you put on the card. I used some kanban card in three colourways and traced around the template, I then added a few lines. Background is the SU vintage wheel embossed with pink powder and PTI anniversary set sentiment.

Colour challenge with labels

This is part of a new set of stamps I just got from "My favourite things". I don't usually like headless figures, but I am going with it on this one! I paper pieced all the elements using patterned papers. I then made a label along the bottom by drawing faux stitching and stamping a sentiment from the stamp set.
This is the DCWV paper I used - carefully stamping only on the coral and brown squares!

I am entering it into Embellish Magazine challenge - use yellow, coral and brown and a label
Fab n Funky - paper piecing

Crafty Pad Competition

I've made this card for the Crafty Pad Competition, the prize is fantastic. You have to use one of their stamps and this cute Belinda Stamp is a fav of mine. I've used SU True friend stamp set for the background paper and the cardstock is one of the new SU colours.

Red and Black

I decided to do an Easel card as I thought the little label I had would be a good stopper. They are quite big so I have found they don't go so well on a normal card.
The challenge at Crafty Catz is for red and black, but you can use other colours, so that is why the background paper has some other colours in it. I thought an easel card could take this 12x12 scrapbook paper with its bold pattern and I think it works.
Well it is pouring with rain here and I may have to put the heating on! Good thing I am engrossed in my crafting.

Pink and green

This is the last card from me for today - hope I haven't burnt myself out for the rest of the week!
I've used one of the Nutcrafters digi bunnies and some free magazine papers.
I'm entering this card into
Stamp something - digi image
Creative Card Crew - Pink and green

and it's good night from me;)

Piece of my heart

Edited with a new picture. I realised the heart should have a space where the piece is taken from - doh. So have now coloured it black.

I've made this card for a new challenge blog Waltzingmouse sketch challenge using the sketch they provided. I really enjoyed this challenge. I've used a new PB stamp from a set and then some prized spotted paper (it matched so well had to let it go!). I made a faux button by turning over the spotty paper and embossing and cutting with a nestie. Used some garden string to tie it on and rubbed over the edges of the die cut with SU rose red ink.

Angels

I'm going to try and get out of my comfort zone some of the time this week. This is my first attempt at being "arty". I was sorting through some magazines and realised I had an issue of Somerset Studio I had brought back from the US in 2006 - inside were some free clipart pages. The Angel in the middle is from that magazine. The angel at the bottom was part of a job lot of stamps from ebay years ago and I have never used her. In fact she was going to the charity shop when I thought, hang on.....she could be a bit arty! The saying underneath her is "Take heart my dear teacup angel is near" - so that then sent me on a teacup and teapot theme - along with all the other things you can see. The brown ribbon was from Molton Brown and that is why you can see lettering showing through it (too nice to waste though!). I used the SU very vintage wheel with blue momento ink to roll over yellow striped paper for the background. I have used a tag - but no ordinary tag it is huge. The white paper it sits on is 12x12 so that should give you an idea of the scale. I think I bought them for scrapbooking...........
It fits Blue, brown and yellow with Wings on the first challenge at "Anything goes" and also the challenge at Die Cut Dreams challenge for Angels.

New SU colour

Me again! I've made this card to hopefully cheer someone up and also to enter the Stamp with Us challenge, which has a theme of "Get well". I've used ribbon in the new SU colour of rich razzelberry. I used SU cardstock and then stamped with rose red, and as I hadn't got a SU colour in the turquoise I used a dauber in a close shade. The spot stamps are Hero Arts and they haven't seen ink in quiet a while! SU stamp for the frame, the sentiment is PTI.

Forever friends

I've got some time off work and so am hoping to be doing lots of makes this week! We'll see.... I also want to get on with my cross stitching which I neglected whilst I was studying the last 4 years.

This card is made with some of the Forever Friends goodies I won recently. I have also used my new Martha Stewart flower punch down the edge and then put the punched out flowers onto the card. I've also shown the back of the card - I am entering into the Ooh la la creations challenge which is to use the colours of their blog and Sir Stampalot challenge who wants to see punches.

Strawberries and cream

This card is based on the colours for the Allsorts challenge this week based on Strawberries and cream. I've used my PTI anniversary set and SU ink colours sage shadow, always artichoke and rose red. I cut a circle with a nestie from the front of the card (this is an idea CASED from Anne) and then I put the main image inside. I bent the acrylic sentiment slightly to fit with the frame stamp.

Over on Mess2Magic Lisa has a blog candy with a difference. She wants you to post a picture which sums you up. I have chosen this cross stitch picture I stitched a few years ago and framed myself.
I've also got all functionality back with blogger - I switched to Google chrome from IE8 and everything works now!

Nutshells challenge #17

This week at Nutshells the challenge is "anything goes" so why not pop over and have a go. This is my card as one of the GDT, it has been made using the Nutshells lovely "pink frosting" set, I just love her cheerful face and that fab cupcake she is sitting on. I blinged her up a bit and added a little bling to the cherry.
In the meantime, remember you must use ANY stamp Nutcrafter's store sell to qualify for the prize!!! That makes it nice and easy for everyone to participate!! So go over to Nutcrafters and see their selection of stamps.
They stock so many lines of stamps inlcuding their own Nutshells so you are bound to have a stamp to be able to enter.

Anniversary WOYWW

I haven't been doing WOYWW since the beginning and when Julia announced the idea of making something to celebrate today I must admit I shirked the idea. I don't really have an imagination and am not arty like a lot of the bloggers. I also thought the anniversary was next week so didn't leave myself a lot of time! anyway - I have decoarated my mannequin with a WOYWW sash and adorned her with Julia the Queen of WOYWW (hope you don't mind Julia!) all hail to our leader...
