LIM week 139 sketch #10

I've taken a break from the lovely sunshine to post my card for the challenge on Less is More this week which is a sketch.
I've used a Charles R McIntosh style chocolate baroque stamp, coloured with promarkers and cut out with a nestie. To complement the image I used Hill House font and cut with a nestie and edged both items with a black distress marker to lift them from the card.
Well I keep meaning to get out more of my warmer clothes and put others way, but the way the weather keeps changing it is lucky I kept my summer clothes out, sitting in a cotton dress today it is so warm. Hope everyone else has sunshine.

My fav flower (in case you hadn't noticed!)

ok - so you must have noticed by now that the Poppy is my fav flower LOL! I am running out of headings as I post so many poppy cards. I have to warn you there will be many more to come as I have fallen totally for all the Hunkydory poppy range launched today,  including the parchment.
So this card uses snippets from two papers I used on Monday's poppy card. This time I have heat embossed with red powder the hero arts poppy stamp. I heated it from underneath so it is lovely and glossy IRL. The sentiment is from a new Forever Friends stamp set I got with lots of useful and sytlised greetings.
My sample of Baileys with chocolate turned up and I have just sampled the lot! Still a bit sicky for my liking even with chocolate. Didn't stop me getting extremely squiffy on the stuff one year as I was too polite to say I didn't really like it.
This card is for the poppy challenge on Stamping Sensations and my third entry for Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground #91 as I would really like to win the droplet stamp.

Snow People @ CD Sunday

The challenge on CD Sunday this week is "Snow people". I've used CC Snowman and the Snowdog cdrom and also the new snowdog die they brought out last week, just had to use him. I cut him out from the same paper as the background, but not sure that was a good idea now! I also paper pieced his ears from the snippet box, so I am entering this into Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground #91.
I'm also entering into Sarn's Rudolph challenge for this month.
I'mhaving a busy week and had to go to London on Tuesday with work, up for the 6.28am train and in London for 8.30 - so hit all the commuters on the tube - squeeze hour! Glad I finally got around to making this card.

Stylised poppy

The challenge over at Stamping Sensations this month is Poppies, which as most people know is one of my favourite flowers. So here I am again with a new Poppy stamp - although maybe stylised, from Joffy. The papers I think were freebies and the other half of the card I used the Anna Griffin poppy embossing folder for and then brushed TH festive berries over.
I found out today that Hunkydory are having a Poppy themed pack on C&C on Friday - although i don't generally go for pre printed packs, this one may be hard to resist (and use!).

Dusk to dawn

When I saw the tutorial on Sally's blog I wanted to have a go at this effect, however, I am a long way off being as good as Sally - she made it look so easy! I didn't buy all the colours she used, just the grape jelly and then utilized what I had. I used a Clarity tree but the birds are from Inkylicious set and the poem is the same as yesterday's card, but it just filled the space in the right way!
I'd also like to enter this card into the Craft a Scene challenge - dusk to dawn.

LIM week 138 - felt

When I saw the challenge on Less is More this week is felt or fabric, I knew this was the opportunity I had been looking for to use some felt flowers I have. I never seem to think of them when I make a card - so for the first card I used an embossing folder and stamped a verse with an olive archival inkpad. I used a versamark embossing pen to then coat the image with perfect pearls. Adding a felt flower and another thing I am trying to use - these pearlised gems.
I have to admit the second card was born out of the need to use more of these flowers! As the first card only got rid of one LOL!
I used the embossing folder tied together, and successfully married up the pattern, so a first there. The used some more of the felt flowers and mounted them onto a spellbinder blossom die cut. I then used part of a freebie stamp for the sentiment.

Little boys @ CD Sunday

Well this is the last day of my week away from work. I haven't got all the things done I wanted to! Including this card, which I began on Wednesday. I sorted out contender cdroms for images - including MCS shop fronts which I always think has a toy shop - and it hasn't! I finally decided on Popcorn the Bear from Crafters Companion and also some background paper from MCS The collectors edition -kid's. I don't know if it was the switching between cds (I've done it before) but MCS crashed twice on me loosing my design. So in the end I went back to just using Popcorn, but was keen on only one of the background papers, so I took the image into MCS - glutton for punishment, and tiled the duck and the cricket bales to make the borders.
So, eventually here is my entry for little boys at CD Sunday this week. Off to do some external painting now as it seems today it isn't going to rain.

Frugal Christmas card

The Crafty Laydee is running a Frugal Christmas card competition. You need to make a card from something not usually meant for Christmas. I thought it would be fun to "Christmas" the Uptown stamps from PB. I paper pieced the shop using Kate Knight Christmas papers and added some snowfall acetate over the front. I then added snow, glitter and frost to all the houses. Some TH tinsel twine finishes it off with CC Christmas sentiments. I added one to the shop as a "shop sign".
I got my internet upgraded yesterday and now I am flying! So hopefully back to more commenting as it was getting so slow before it felt like dial up LOL!

mid month reminder for Penny Black & More @ Allsorts

The weather is definitely changing now and so here is my second autumnal DT card for Penny Black & More. This time I followed the optional sketch provided. Instead of completely colouring hedgie in I used some flocking, in brown and pink for a change. Although the flowers look red I did in fact use all the promarker shades of peaches/oranges! The ribbon was a freebie with my order from The Artists trading Post - isn't it lovely.
Thanks for looking and I hope to see you over at the challenge.
By the way - I used a new app called Vine to show how I created this card - take a look, my first attempt at this

celebrate the season

The challenge over on Simon Says is "emboss". I've used a pink petticoate digi and stripped papers, colouring with promarkers and adding a little red liquid pearl for the berries. The background is embossed with snowflakes.
I'm upgrading my internet access this afternoon and so will be without the internet - hopefully it comes back ok!

LIM - week 137 OLC - Get well soon

Less is More want to get well cards this week. See those three little letters in the blog post header OLC? One Layer Card - yes this is OLC but this is how it started.
I had this little stamp, bit boring on its own for OLC. So I thought and thought and came up with this.

I was so proud of find some snippets that were plaster colour too! But, it is not OLC. So I used the clearlybesotted die I had set my heart on using as a template and drew around it. Used the sentiment part of the stamp and then wrote the rest in by hand. I am entering this second card into the Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground #90. and 365 cards where I haven't played in ages and ages but I find they want cards with a speech bubble!.

Those of you who visit regularly will know how much I love poppies. We went away for the weekend and look at the room we got.
and then I found this new doormat

Shop 'til you drop @ CD Sunday

It's shop til you drop at CD Sunday this week. I love shops and also have the MCS shopfronts cdrom, but went with CC Frou Frou cdrom for my cards. Yes there are two as I couldn't help myself!
All the elements on the first one are from the cd rom. I was going to use the stamp of the image on the second one, but found it was going to be too big, so instead I used MCS to crop her image and place in the frame. The stamped sentiment is from the rubber stamp set.
Talking of CC have you seen the Makey Bakey Mice cdrom set which launches tomorrow? Got to get it looks fab and luckily for me I have a little bit of credit in my C&C account to help out!

Child's play

This is a card I've made for the OH to give to one of his Grandsons who is going to be 4 years old. The film strip is something I bought ages ago and then never knew what to do with it! I thought it went with these papers from a  DCWV  paperstack I bought specifically to do boy cards.
I'd like to enter it into the challenge over on Paperplay -  child's play.

LIM week 136 - dark green and rust

The colour challenge on Less is More this week is dark green and rust. I've just got a new dark green archival ink pad read for Barbara Gray's next lesson. So, I decided to use that and a rust ink pad I had. The first card uses a TH stamp and leaves from Gina K. The sentiment is from Papermania. My thoughts behind this were the turning back of the clock in autumn.

The second card features the one of the latest from a set of two part trees from Barbara Gray (Clarity stamps) and is ready for her next lesson. I used a frame stamp and sentiment from Waltzing Mouse stamps.

Fashionista uncovered

To make this card i first used a Bline mannequin stamp and embossed in blue all over the 8x8 card blank. I then took pages from the 6x6 Papermania pad "Happy Days. Cutting out two distressed squares with spellbinders. You can see one of the papers on this card without ink - its a great pad. I stamped the dressmaker mannequin image on one of the sets and then spritzed over, using the offcut tape measure down the side of the card.
I'd like to enter this card into the Rogue Redhead Designs challenge - fashionista.

Scentimental in pink

I've taken the inspiration for this card from two challenges. CD Sunday - Scentimental and Cute Card Thursday - pretty in pink.
I didn't go to my cd roms for the scentimental challenge as I remembered I had bought this Kaiser stamp and it had not seen ink yet! Then for the pink I went to Pink Petticoat cd rom Lola's Boutique, now discontinued and before the days of digital downloads. I chose two pink papers from the cd rom and also the image which I coloured with perfect pearls. I then die cut a border and butterfly and sentiment label from one of the papers.

A little jar of snow.......

After my last card featuring the jar with handbags I thought what else I could put in the jar and my thoughts turned to Christmas. For the first card I used some snowfall acetate from Hunkydory and wrote "snow on the label", adding an embellishment and embossed greeting.
For the second card I used some Kanban green card with snow and did the same technique.

I'd like to enter into the challenge on Papertake weekly for "anything goes" with the option of Christmas.

last days of summer

I thought maybe I could get away with a summery card as it is still really hot here in the UK (for a change!). I used up the snippet of paper and spare die cut from my beach card the other day. I've been meaning to use for ages and ages these flip flops, which I recycled from a birthday card I received as they were too good not to reuse.I wanted to play with one of my latest dies, so the fan got added too from another snippet. When I saw the picture on Cupcake Inspirations challenge it reminded me of these flip flops and finally they are used..

So I'd like to enter their challenge and also go to Pixies Crafty Playground snippets challenge #88 and enter the card into the playground.

LIM week 135 - use a rubber stamp

For the Less is More challenge this week you need to use a rubber stamp and they would also like to see water colours. I didn't use water colours, but a Penny Black & More teamie introduced me to stamping with H20s, so this is my first attempt at that technique. I used Poppy poem from PB. You can't see the sheen from the H20s in the first photo too well, but this second photo I think captures it better. I mounted it onto the famous "tied together" embossing folder, which I am glad I didn't have to pay silly money for on ebay, because they just reissued it!
I'd also like to enter this card into the Poppy challenge over at the Stamping Sensations challenge this month, I have a feeling it won't be the last that I enter LOL!
I then did a second card which was inspired by Amy's card here - tilting the jar for a change. I used some Clare Curd stamps with the jar, adding the tiny "bags" wording to the tag.

Autumn colours and optional sketch at Penny Black & More

Well here we are in Sept - where is the year going? This month at Penny Black & More we would like to see autumn colours and there is the option of using this sketch.
September sketch
I didn't use the sketch for my DT card, but will be doing so for the mid monthly reminder. The stamping on my card was inspired by the fabulous Doreen of Doreen's dream.  I've used PB 3984L Inclinations with a sentiment from Flonz stamps. The background is some vellum from my stash and I cut out one of the butterflies to mount onto the sentiment. I wrapped a little twine around the stamping and the whole thing has a kraft card base.
I liked this so much I decided to do a second card with the layers reversed, so this time the stamping is under the vellum. The border stamp and sentiment are from Flonz stamps. Three of the butterflies were on this piece of the vellum but I decided to cu and punch two others to add to the card.

Well that's all from me. I look forward to seeing what you create and remember stamping must be the focal point of your card, but no digis. Pop over to the blog to see the usual fabulous prizes up for grabs and the wonderful inspiration from the rest of the team.
