All Creatures Great and Small @ CDSunday

For my card today I've mixed things up a little by using a cdrom image with a painted background. I love mixing different mediums and am pleased with how this turned out. The image is from Legend of the Unicorns by Debbi Moore and the sentiment is computer generated.

I used aqua tints to make the background and added a little PB butterfly.

Sarn led me astray to get some new glitter pens - I must say they are fab and I couldn't wait to use them. I went around the image with the purple one and then around the wording also with silver. Final touch is some ribbon which was part of a set from £1 shop - a real bargain.

I'm entering this into the All Creatures Great and Small challenge over at CD Sunday.

Rose snippets

You may have seen my Less is More card here for this weeks challenge. These cards and using the same theme of polka dots. The first card was going to be my entry when I realised it was maybe not "less" enough! I then wondered what the same design would look like with the Sue Wilson rose dies and so that is my second card together with a snippet of my CE DT card for this Saturday!

I'm off to the snippets playground with them now - missed the Easter bonnet parade as it was rained off but Sarn and Brenda showed me where the hooch was so the afternoon wasn't a complete write off.

Clarity Calendar challenge 3

For the first time I am entering the Clarity Calendar challenge. Each month on the calendar features a piece of art work by Barbara and on the reverse are all the instructions to recreate it.
This is the artwork for March.
I had the sentiment stamp and the lamp post but unfortunately not the other elements, so I had to make some substitutions with other Clarity stamps. It's an interpretation luckily, as now I compare mine with the original it looks nothing like it!

Feathered Friends at Ooh La La Creations Challenge

It's time for a new challenge at Oooh La La challenge blog and this fortnight Wynn has chosen the them of "Feathered friends".

I printed one of the beautiful background papers from the Shawn Jenkins cdrom onto card and using a die cut out my base shutter card.

I then printed other elements from the birdhouse images including some ribbons and added to the card, together with a few die cut flowers and leaves.
There isn't a tag that matches this design excactly, so using MCS I cut around the birdhouse and superimposed it over a butterfly tag.

Thanks for looking and remember to visit our blog and see all my talented teamies makes for more inspiration.

LIM - Polka Dots

I've used my new Ellen Hutson dies for this card and some Craftwork Card Polka dot papers that are very old, not much of them left now. Even the black has black polka dots on it - so lots of dots. The sentiment is from a Sheena stamp set.

I'm entering this into the Less is More challenge for Polka dots.

Hope you are enjoying the day - it is glorious sunshine here at the moment, but I don't suppose it will last. I was up at 7am despite the clocks going forward an hour, so actually 6am! I can't shake this bug off, had it since the beginning of March and I will go a few days and be fine, then it hits me again and all our plans get cancelled.

Creative Expressions Saturday - Hello friend

For my DT card for Creative Expressions this week I have used both embossing and debossing to create the panels using vellum and ink with the CE eternal ivy A4 embossing folder.
I used the dandelion striplet stamp and CE gilding flakes for the main panel and also on a strip of vellum where I used Hello Friend from the petite lavish stamp collection. I've used some embellishments from Craft Consortium as finishing touches and colour cloud to dye the seam binding.

Please click HERE to see what the other members of the Creative Expressions Design Team have been creating!
I have two pairs of one day tickets to give away courtesy of Creative Expressions to the Crafting at Ally Pally show on 9 & 10 April.   If you would like to be in with chance for these tickets then if you can please become a follower - if you aren't already. Then just leave a comment that you want to go in the draw.
I'll draw a winners on Thursday 31 March so that I can get them to you in the post in plenty of time.

March Rudolph Day

Well as it's the 25th of the month it must be time for Rudolph day - if you don't know what I am on about then visit Mo's blog here for details of how to join in.

I've recently been having a clearout in the craft room (well it's continuous really!) and this time I targetted Christmas stash. I found this Anna Griffin embellishment which I thought would cover my little area in the top right - why? Well this beautiful polka dot paper was so perfect for this die but I had already cut into it and there was a little bit missing - hence the embellishment!

Thanks for looking and hopefully I will see you at Mo's Rudolph Day challenge too.

LIM week 268 - What's outside your window?

I got a new die - the poloraid one. I've wanted it for ages but couldn't justify the cost - then I saw it in a sale......

I used inkylicious stamps to create my scene and some TH distress inks. I actually created the scene on the second card first. Had a couple of attempts and it just wasn't lining up so instead I took one of my aqua paint backgrounds and stamped in black to create the first card. Then it seemed a shame to waste this little scene so I used corners from a TL dieset and Clarity letter stamps to make the card.

These cards are for the Less is More challenge which this week is What's outside your window. I'm also going into the Snippets playground as all my pieces of card are snippets from other makes.

Don't forget to check out my giveaway here for Ally Pally tickets courtesy of Creative Expressions.

All about the girls - Clarity challenge

The theme for the challenge this month at the Clarity  stamp challenge blog is "All about the girls" - as I have more or less every girl stencil I thought I should enter.

My idea for this should it not be apprent is that the two girls are dreaming, one of the high life with dresses, cocktails and fine jewellery etc the other more Mary Berry, cupcakes and tea and a nice victoria sandwich!

To fit with the rules of the challenge every thing I have used is from Clarity. I used the brickwork stencil to make the background and masked off using the positive the two girls. I then removed the mask, inked through them and then stamped with flowers to make a dress pattern on each. I then also used one of these stamps on the background and frame.I stamped "feminine" down each figure and then stenciled the "thought bubbles" stamping in grey each of the elements. Finally I add some sparkle glitter pen and pearl drops.

mid month reminder to Feature a Creature at Penny Black & More challenge

Time for a mid month reminder about our challenge over at Penny Black & More, which this month is feature a creature.

For my DT card I used Penny Black 1729K Just Buzzin'By!
I coloured the image with Spectrum Noir sparkle pens (unfortunately that doesn't come across in the photo!) and fleximarkers and promarkers. I spritzed a some brushos to create the sky. The background papers are from the PB Gentle Whisper paper pad. "Smile" was done using a PB die but I cut out and stencilled with a black glitter pen.

As usual we have fab prizes on offer from our sponsors who this month are

Penny Black

Crafty Ribbons

Marianne Designs

and a PB stamp from one of the DT - Sam of Whispers cards

LIM week 267 One layer sentiment

I'm using all Clarity products for my Less is More challenge entry this week. I lightly stenciled the brick wall background and then stamped the sentiment and part of the poppy stamp which I then coloured with promarkers and a touch of a spectrum noir sparkle pen. I even managed to remember it was one layer week!

I think I got bit ahead with myself as far as the seasons go, as when I made this card yesterday the sun was shining so bright. Very overcast here today. I just found out that a friend has suffered a loss, so I am giving this card to her.

Spring is in the air at Ooh La La Creations challenge

Avril has chosen the theme of our latest challenge at Ooh La La Creations - Spring is in the Air - let's hope so! I do love spring flowers and so my DT card uses this gorgeous image taken from the Carnival of Colour cdrom.

I printed one of the background papers onto card stock and then using a stepper die cut out my base. The image is a in three parts on the cdrom, so it was easy to just cut out and layer up on each part of the card.

Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see your Spring creations.

I'm also entering this card into the challenge over on Allsorts which is also Spring is in the Air.

Creative Expressions Saturday - Camouflage Happy Birthday

Hello and thanks for visiting - my Creative Expressions Design Team card for today uses my take on the camouflage technique.

I stamped and embossed with TH wilted violet using the stitched heart background stamp. I then stamped again and cut out with the Happy Birthday die. I then cut out again in foundation cardstock the Happy Birthday sentiment.
I fussy cut around the stitched heart background and then mounted the two Happy Birthday diecuts, slightly off setting one behind the other whilst lining up the stamp detail.

Thanks for looking.

CD Sunday - colour challenge

The challenge over on CD Sunday is colour - using this photo for the inspiration.

I've used the Ooh la la cd rom Shawn Jenkins - celebrations - French tulips. I have a SU punch and embossing folder that is very similar to the lattice work on the image. I ran the black card through the embossing folder and rubbed over with CE teal gilding wax and then used the punch on the backing paper from the cdrom. I then used a SU butterfly and frantage powders to emboss, also over the corners of the card with more gilding wax. I also embossed the words "love life" from another SU set in white opaque powder.

International Women's Day at Allsorts

It's International Women's Day today and Allsorts challenge are celebrating by using this as their challenge theme this week.

I love this KennyK digi and this is the third card I have made using it. I've combined it with some retro paper and a lovely poppy die.

LIM - citrus

The current challenge at Less is More is citrus. I decided to get out my lime green, orange and lemon brushos and begin.

A few weeks ago I saw a TH scribble set of dies used on Elaine's blog and had to get them. All last week while I wasn't well they sat looking at me - but I was too ill to use them. Until now......

I cut the scribble strip out and used it as a mask on this first card - sprinkling brushos through it. Then I used a circle for the sun - using brushos again for the sky and sun.  I stamped over with the taxi and Chrysler building. Finally I used a Penny Black die.

Then I had the scribble left over - so to use this snippet I cut it in half, used more brushos and cut the flower and some leaves from more snippets, sprinkling and spritzing the brushos. I've used stamps and leaf dies from an Ellen Hutson set.

Off to the snippets playground to show everyone my second card and also entering into Darnell's latest NBUS challenge, although they didn't wait that long to get used lol!.

Feature a Creature at Penny Black & More

Welcome to the new challenge at Penny Black & More where this time we would like you to "Feature a Creature".

I've wanted this PB Smile all day set ever since I saw some of PB DT teamies using it and so this seemed like the perfect excuse to get it!

For my DT card I created a brusho background my tearing up a piece of A4 paper and then removing each section at a time and applying the brushos and water. This gives a more controlled look over the colours than you would normally get.

I used a tree stencil over the background and then stamped my little fox. I coloured him with promarkers and a white TH distress marker which covered the colour of the brushos but also gave some markings to him which I thought looked good. I cut a circle in the background and then off set it over a Tattered Lace trellis die. Finally I put some of the "waste" from die back into the trellis frame.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you at the challenge this month. As always there are fantastic prizes on offer from our sponsors and also the chance to be a GDT if you use a PB image. Just remember to make stamping the focal point of your card please and no digis.

Creative Expressions Saturday - Happy Anniversary

Good Morning and welcome to my Creative Expressions Saturday DT card post.

For my card I used John Lockwood for Creative Expressions Stitched Heart background stamp to emboss using Cosmic shimmer ivory powder onto a piece of vellum. This is an A6 stamp and so made a perfect card blank for me to decorate with ribbon, embelishments and a sentiment from the CE Petite lavish sentiment stamp set. I also cut two corners of vellum and used part of the stamp to emboss on them before putting the pearl embelisments on, I then put them over the corners of the sentiment to soften the overall look.
Finally I mounted onto a sheet of the Phill Martin Butterflies and dragonflies paper pad and then onto CE foundation cardstock.

LIM use some wire

I'm not feeling too well at the moment. But in the middle of the night in a sleepless moment I had an idea and this is the card. I hadn't been to the Less is More challenge since Saturday so I didn't realise that this is not an original idea with the wire coat hanger!
I used a G45 stamp and made my little hanger from some jewelry wire and hung it through the S in style. A little die cut black dress with an edging of wink of stella and a few sequins. These sequins are a bargain in Poundland at the moment for a big bag.
Well - this has just about finished me off for now, but I was getting frustrated being a couch potato.
I'm off to link it up at Less is More and also take it into the snippets Playground as I used snippets to make the card. Don't worry girls I will wear a mask so you don't get my germs!
