Landscapes @ The Male Room challenge

I was looking through the images on the latest free cdrom with Crafters Companion Inspiration mag and this landscape paper caught my eye for the Male Room Challenge where they want to see landscapes. I was going to do something completely different - but at least it is another Christmas card done - and for a male!

All of the papers are from the same cd and I re coloured them to co-ordinate, adding the text and embellishments to the main image.

Anything Christmas @ Allsorts challenge

This is the card I designed in Craft artist for one of the older grandchildren - not yet old enough to drink - so I put a pizza over the can! Difficult to find suitable images so I used the Bloke cdrom and recoloured and added a robin and some snowflakes and a recoloured the presents to make them look more manly!

I'm entering this into the Anything Christmas challenge at Allsorts.

November Rudolph Day

The last Rudolph Day of the 2016! Check out Mo's blog if you are still not sure what this is.
For my card I've used a Sheena Douglass stamp set and coloured with aquatints, the dies are also from Sheena.
Same old story - I bought this set of stamps last year, but never got around to using it and I really do love this image - made a special effort this year!

Sparkle and Shine

Feeling pretty pleased as I have managed to meet three challenges with this card.

It began with the challenge at CD Sunday for Sparkle and shine. I had my home made blue glitter paper left over from another project I thought it would look good as a night sky and even more snippets to use for the tree tinsel and present which are dies from Sue Wilson Shadow box.
The tree paper is left over from another card here and is from Ooh la la Shawn Jenkins Christmas collection. The snowflakes sparkle too as they are cut from an offcut of some glitter card. I added some frost dawn embossing to the window frame using Lisa Hortons Christmas stamps.

I used a CC sentiment and the tree is a sticker from Anna Griffin which I have been wanting to use up for ages. Santa is a die from Sue Wilson.

I'm entering into the CD Sunday challenge and the Allsorts challenge Oh Christmas tree. As I have used snippets from my box I'm also off to the snippets playground.

I fell heavily on my back yesterday amongst the space and clutter that is my craft area! Enough is enough - I need to actually dedicate the space and get rid of other things in there. I've been considering it for a while, but yesterday was literally a wake up call as I still ache, and it could have been a lot worse.

LIM #303 - vintage

Less is more challenges always seem to see me inking up stamps that I have never got around to using! I have wanted this buildings stamp for so long, then when I got it never got around to using it, so I thought it would fit their theme this week of Vintage. I stamped and then used aqua tints to colour the buildings and sky with a splatter brush, adding a free stamp from last year into the sky. Finally I embossed using a snow embossing folder with silver gilding wax.

Birthday celebrations at Ooh la la challenge

It's Wynn's pick for the challenge at Ooh la la this time and as it is her birthday she has chosen Birthday Celebrations - Happy Birthday Wynn x

For my card I have used one of the bonus patterned papers from the Paula Oakley collection cdrom.

I covered my base card with the paper and then cut out a pocket shape and a triangle for the collar. Using a fine liner I did some faux stitching around both and put them onto the card. I printed the buttons from the cdrom and added a thread line to them. Finally I printed a sentiment and popped it into the pocket.

Thanks for looking and don't forget to come over to the blog and join in with our challenge as well as seeing all the lovely inspiration from the rest of the team.

mid month reminder for Penny Black & More - Christmas

Time for a little reminder about our current challenge over on Penny Black & More which this month is anything Christmas - ideal for all those cards you still need to make!

I had a piece of copy paper which I had used to take ink off my gelli plate and I thought it looked nice and wintery to complement this Penny Black stamp set Snow Dancer. I've used spectrum noir sparkle pens to colour and then edged with a TL "waste" from cutting out the pearl dot frame and then the memory box border cut into two. Finally touch was a little "snow"and some splattering with a sparkle pen.

Thanks for looking and I do hope to see you over at the challenge blog where you will find lots of wonderful inspiration from my teamies for your Christmas cards.

LIM week 302 - Books/literature

I knew I had the perfect stamp when I saw the Less is More challenge was Books/literature - but where had I put it? I almost got rid of this stamp in my last deep clean of the craft room as although I love it, I'm never sure what to do with it and it has huge Unity packet for such a small stamp. I did keep it but where......

Once I found it as it is one layer week at Less is More I just stamped it and coloured with my new toy spectrum noir sparkle pens - then I used some of the sparkle to watercolour around the image and over the sentiment.

Not sure this stamp will survive the next cull!

Feature a creature

The current challenge at Allsorts is "Feature a Creature". I got a new TH set of dies and just had to have a play so that is the top of the card with some glitter onto sticky paper behind it.Then I used Apple Blossom stamps and dies for the rest of the card.

Clarity - blast from the past challenge

I had a sheet of paper that I had cut out leaves from and I just didn't want to throw it away! So I decided to put some of the die cuts back into the sheet and make it the background. I rubbed some gilding wax onto the leaf veins and around the edges.

I love this Clarity stamp - I used it onto a double sided sticky sheet and acetate with gilding flakes, finishing with another scrap of the paper and a Clarity word stamp.

I'm entering this into the Clarity monthly challenge which this time is Blast from the Past - this is not the oldest Clarity stamp I have, but I do use it a lot.

As I have used snippets I'm also going to the snippet playground with this make.

Remembrance Sunday

Just sharing two pages I made with a free kit from Daisy trail for use with Craft Artist. I designed the first one for the challenge they had for Armistice day - no prizes just to be a part of a collage. Then I re read the rules and it said only the kit could be used and I had incorporated bits from other kits. So I did the second one - I used pictures from when the poppies were on display at Yorkshire Sculpture Park last year.

Poppies for Armistice Day

I always try to make a Poppy card for this time of year - and today is Armistice Day for the UK. I've used a poppy stamp that hadn't yet seen ink and stamped onto a snippet of white card, cutting around it with a distressed die with the two parts of the image that overhang left outside the die.

I've coloured the image with spectrum noir sparkle pens, and then with water washed the background with the green sparkle pen - it really does glitter beautifully in real life. I've used another poppy set for the word background behind the die. From my snippet box I cut the die in red and then again part of the die in green - otherwise I will end up with a never ending task of fitting waste into dies!

I found out about a group for adults with learning difficulties this week that needed art and craft supplies. So I had a good clear out in the craft room including a lot of my snippets and die cuts that I had "waiting to be used". They were so pleased when I took everything to them - I've promised to go and do a craft session with them too.

This is for the snippets playground, don't worry I've still got lots of snippets to play with, making new ones all the time too!

Time/Clocks @ Allsorts challenge

I got some of the new Time Traveller Sheena Douglass release - so had to try them out for this challenge at Allsorts for Time/Clocks.

I used Spectrum noir sparkle pens to colour the stamped image behind the die and added pebeo antique gold wax to the watch chain and clock hands. I also added a little to the sentiment and also used the sparkle pens to splatter the sentiment and background card. I "found" the DP in my stash and thought it was perfect for my card.

I'm also entering this card into the Science theme at The Male Room challenge - as time travel is a science!

Father Christmas at CD Sunday challenge

I used the Ooh La La Shawn Jenkins Christmas cdrom to print the tree backing paper. The colourful moon is a print taking from my gelli plate and the negative from something else I was making. I decided to stamp the Clarity Father Christmas across it. Finished off with a Crafters companion Christmas die set, and if you can make it out on the bottom of the white gloss card, the free snowflake embossing folder with their latest inspiration magazine. Finished off with CE Christmas sentiment die, one of the stars from the waste and one from yesterdays card.

I'm entering this into the CD Sunday Father Christmas challenge.

I was going to use a completely different cdrom for this challenge but have found that my Windows 10 PC will not run my docrafts digital cdroms. I don't have the option of reverting to windows 7 as the PC came with 10 installed.  I went on their website for help but so far not solved the issue as the tutorial they have does not match what happens on my PC. If anyone has any tips before I continue to pull my hair out I would be grateful.

LIM #301 Purple and Gold

Less is more challenge this week uses one of my fav colours Purple - so was keen to join in with the Purple and gold challenge.

For my first card I've used a Seth Apter star die and TL lips die with a visible image stamp.

My next card I used the rest of the star die and then used a small piece of a paper pad mounted onto some gold card - simples.

Vintage @ Ooh la la Creations challenge blog

It's Pauline's turn to choose our challenge at Ooh la la Creations challenge blog this time and she has chosen the theme of Vintage.

For my DT card I used the "Say it with words" cdrom.

I've used one of my favourite images from the cdrom, and to give it a vintage feel I printed onto Kraft card. The design comes like this on the cdrom, so all I had to do was cut it out, no layering needed. I created a background wall using a stencil and some distress inks.

I do hope to see you at our challenge this time. Please check the blog to see what the rest of the team have created for the vintage challenge.

Christmas @ Penny Black & More challenge

It's time for our new challenge at Penny Black & More - and it's Christmas! See my teamies wonderful inspiration if you are stuck for your cards for this year. Get entering up to 3 times and see your Christmas card stash grow!

For my DT card I've used Penny Black Hidden Lane for the main image and then using the colour Watering can ink I stamped the background images from the PB Wonder Collection.

I've used my MISTI to stamp the main image, building up the layers of colour one by one for each part of the image. I cut a circle and masked off the sky before applying ink over the top. The "snow" is actually the original white card with nothing added to it.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you at the challenge.

Ink splat snippets

Although I have already entered the Male Room challenge, there was something about that combination of orange, yellow and blue that made me want to try another idea. I raided my snippets box and this is what I came up with. This is my second entry for the challenge.

I used the splat from the Tim Holtz sizzix die set and a Lil inker die. I've even put the waste from the die on the card  to hightlight the wording and as extra splats so definitely going to the snippets playground with this one.
