Butterfly in autumn colours

So I finally went for it and bought a gelli plate! Only a 6x6 as I don't see me creating massive pieces. I also got this lovely set of paints a bargain from Amazon and a lot cheaper than a well know online tv company ahem, if you know what I mean. It reminds of me of Christmas when I was a child and you got things like this in a box set.
So I had a play and to begin with I thought this is not for me I can't do it - but I tried again and now I want to play all the time with it LOL!
This is my first attempt with a few different stencils and a butterfly cut with a Tattered lace die from some beautiful bronze mirri card. It was inspired by Mrs A's Butterfly challenge, which I finally got to enter again so I'm off to link up there now.

Add a bow in the ooh La La challenge

The theme of the challenge on Ooh La La this time is "add a bow". For my DT card I've used the Everyday Occasions cdrom. These papers are available as a freebie from the ooh la la shop website - follow this link.

I added some glossy accents just to the bow to give it a more realistic look. I decoupaged the bears and added two feet brads I have had for ages.
Thanks for looking and I looked for ward to seeing your creation over at the blog.

LIM week 191 - Mostly words

Due to the vellum lilly overlay, I've found this card difficult to photograph, but hopefully you can tell what it is! I took a word stamp and embossed the words in black and the "blue" in blue. I used a tattered spellbinder die to cut it out and then using a larger die cut in vellum to mount over the top.
The card is for Less is More challenge which this week is Mostly words. I used a snippet of blue card and so I'm also going to the snippet playground to show everyone there too. As it's anything goes week at Simon Says I'm also off to enter there too.

A card for a male @ CD Sunday

I've just received this week two cdroms from La Pashe - I made this card using the Best of La Pashe 2012 which at the moment is 90% off together with the Just Inked cdrom if you use the code on their facebook page.
For the background I used a sheet from a DCWV paper stack "all about boys" and then using a background paper from the cdrom cut squares/rectangles and then gentle inked them around the edges.
I'm entering this card into the CD Sunday challenge "a card for a male".

September Rudolph Day

Is it really that time again already? There aren't many Rudolph Days left now until the day itself!
This month I've taken the challenge from Sarn to make two christmas cards for "Rudolph Day".
I've used the new spellbinders die on both cards and stamped a Creative Expressions stamp which I embossed in silver. I've also used the Creative Expressions Snow on one of the layers and then run it through an embossing folder. The first card I did the double sided glue all over the die but for the second one I limited it to the main bulk of the die cut.
Both cards feature my newest die, the little holly leaves from Sue Wilson - I can see I will be using these a lot!
The image on the first card is from Pink Petticoat and I added some "ice" from Crafting.co.uk.

Ding Dong

I've discovered a Tattered Lace challenge blog. So I decided to get out some of my dies and enter the current challenge of "holidays" by making this Christmas card. I've used two dies which were free with the Tattered Lace Magazines and a tattered lace doily die. The sentiment is computer generated. I used as a background and for the bells some matt silver weave card - it's not too clear so here is a closer look.

mid month reminder for autumn colours at Penny Black & More

This is our little mid month reminder about our challenge over on Penny Black & More, the theme this month is autumn colours. I decided to get inky with PB30-103 wishes which I stamped in black onto some glossy card I had brayed over. I then used some oriental paper to emboss flonzcraft butterlies onto. I cut out the tiles and then added a sentiment from the same PB set.
Whilst I had the set out I had another play this time with a different hue. For this card I embossed the base card and stamped using mahogany ink onto brayed backgrounds. I don't use cream card very often but I thought it went well with the colours of the ink.
I'd also like to enter this card into the Oldie But a Goodie challenge for autumn - everything is over 6 months old and the paper is probably 6 years old!

Thanks for looking and we hope to see you over at Penny Black & More, even if you've entered you can enter up to 3 times. Just remember we don't allow any digi stamps.

Bags of fun with snippets

I had a bit of a tidy up/clean of the craft room yesterday. So many things I had forgotten I had and as I've mentioned I am on a mission to get using it! So these peel off handbag stickers I bought have been brought out and the snippet box raided to make this card. The base card is a pre printed one I won a pack of ages ago and the sentiment is created on the PC.
Not exactly the most creative thing I've made but I have used snippets and so off to the snippets playground week #142 to show everyone.

Happily every after @ CD Sunday

I needed to make a wedding card for a colleague who is getting married soon. I've been putting it off as I don't really like doing wedding cards, I think its the pressure to make it really special. Anyway, the challenge on CD Sunday "happily every after" gave me the start I needed and I also have always liked the hearts used in this way, so I have done my own take on it.
I used vinyl and cut the hearts on my silhouette, I then embossed the white vinyl in a spellbinders folder. The background paper and the larger pink hearts are papers from "say it with words", I'm using this cd so much at the moment. I created the sentiments using the Jane Austen font on the PC.
I'm also entering this card into the Anything Goes challenge at Divas by Design.

Birthday Boy at Ooh La La Creations challenge

It's time for a new challenge over at Ooh La La Creations and this time we have "Birthday Boy". I've used the wonderful "Say it with words" cd rom for my DT card.
As you can see the design I've used is featured on the cover artwork. The images come without the words also, so that is the one I used, substituting my own wording. I used My Craft Studio to impose the image onto one of the background papers from the cd rom, I printed out the blue DP from the cd and then mounted onto that. The little trucks and cars are a memory box die and I used glossy accents for the windows.
Thanks for looking and I hope to see you over on the challenge.

LIM week 189 Beverages one layer and oops I did it again!

It's one week layer challenge on Less is More (more on that later) and the theme is Beverages. It's become apparent to me that I have lots of beverage stamps both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
I've chosen a MFF stamp which I then shaded with pan pastels. I added a tiny sentiment to the tag on the cup from SU and the main sentiment is from Clever Cuts - it's a take on the Lionel Ritchie song - get it? This is so a sentiment for me as I am often lurking in the kitchen seeing if the OH has made me a pot of tea!

Oops I did it again - maybe it was the talk of Rubber Romance stamps by Anne, I went rushing to get this stamp by them which hasn't yet seen ink. I then had a great idea for a card for an upcoming 50th birthday party, but the lady doesn't want the mention of the age on her cards. I did think - it's not One layer week is it? No I decided it was only a few weeks ago. Came to blog my card and - yeah I did it again! So here is the card anyway. I used a sentiment from a Frou Frou Crafters Companion set and simply stamped the image with some glitter film over the top for the fizz and a few glitter bubbles rising from the glass.

Pretty in Pink

I'm on a never ending challenge to try and use some stash. This base card is part of a pack which I won sometime ago - so in an effort to reduce stash and enter a challenge I've made a fairly CAS card with Papertrey Ink stamp set.
I'd like to enter it into the pretty in pink challenge over at Allsorts.

Autumn colours @ Penny Black & More challenge

It's time for a new challenge for September over on Penny Black & More. This month we want to see autumn colours. For my DT card I used Penny Blac stamp 3984 Inclinations on a brayered background onto glossy card. The papers are from Papertrey Ink and the fox is a spellbinder die, finished off with leaves from Sue Wilson die set.
The card is for my MIL who loves foxes, so when I saw this die just had to get it, I know a few other people who like foxes too so it should get some use. The sentiment stamp "Mum" is from Clearly Besotted and the other one was a freebie.

LIM week 188 Chocolate and mint

The challenge on Less is More this week is CHOCOLATE MINT
I knew that I had some snippets of these SU papers in the perfect colours. I cut once with the spotted paper and then for the houses with the chocolate card and paper pieced them. I then used a chocolate baroque stamp which I've coloured with promarkers, the sentiment is from the same set. I have coveted these stamps for so long and finally decided to buy them the other week - so now completely justified!
I took another couple of pieces of the card and made some "hills" to fill the gap between the stamp and the edge of the die cut.
I've been told by Miss Di that I can go and wait for the gates of the snippets playground to open - so I'll link later.

Get well @ CD Sunday

The challenge on CD Sunday this fortnight is "Get Well". I just got my free MCS CDrom from C&C Fairies for the year. I thought I would have a look what was on the cdrom for reference. The next thing I spied some lovely flowers and I started to make a bouquet with them. They started off in pink and white, but I then decided to try and "autumn" them and this is the result - finished off with some Crafters Companion acetate. So something a bit different from me as I'm not sure I've built a bouquet before! I used the phrase "feel better soon" as I think it can be for some much more than when someone is ill.
The last two weeks I have been working away from home and also had to travel on BHol Monday. So, as I could get C&C in the hotel I'm afraid I spoilt myself with some goodies! The acetate being one of them.
Then just as I was unpacking my case I was off again this time on leave with the OH to Bletchley Park - home of the codebreakers from WWII. Below is the actual mansion which I thought was all there was to it - how wrong I was, we spent five hours there and still didn't see it all and also got very tired feet!
It was so interesting, I definitely recommend it.

We stayed the night before in nearby Flitwick - a place I have often seen from a train but never been to.
Below is Flitwick Manor the staff were so friendly and the food superb. I didn't realise it was supposed to be haunted and we had our room (see below) was accessed from its own staircase and the bathroom was across the landing from the bedroom. Every time I went to the bathroom I kept expecting to see a ghost!

Clean and Simple at Ooh La La Creations and some news!

Exciting news - I am now part of the Ooh La La Creations DT - hurrah!
My first card for the team is for the Clean and Simple challenge. I've used a topper from the Shoes in Bloom cdrom (the first one, there is also a part 2).
I then used some green card run through a Happy Birthday folder with one of the happy birthday sentiments highlighted with amethyst gilding wax and mounted onto some violet card for the base.
Thanks for looking and I look forward to seeing all your creations at Ooh la la. The challenge runs for two weeks.
