LIM #343 Use a real object

The challenge at Less is More this week is to use a real object. I decided that I wanted to use one of my Julie Nutting doll stamps and some material.I'm in the middle of decorating so everything is a little inaccessible regarding my sewing materials. Then I remembered I had this stick backed fabric I bought (not yet used!). So I used that to paper piece and it was a lot easier than adhering gathered fabric which was my original idea.

I used a promarker to colour the edge of the dress and shaded around with a flex marker. I also die cut a little TL handbag and backed it with some of the fabric too. Finally a little die cut sentiment.

I'm going over to the Snippets playground with this one too as the handbag and sentiment die cut are snippets. In fact the pink was so small a snippet that I wanted to use some for the sentiment too, but there were no more pieces to be had.

Oh and my backdrop this time - I used my curtains which were the easiest thing to hand!

Lace at Ooh la la creative challenge blog

The challenge this time at Ooh la la Creations challenge blog has been chosen by Tez and she's looking for Lace on your designs.

For my DT card I've used Yesterday's Memories for the papers and main image.
I added some pink lace and some lace flowers which were white, and I simply sponged with some CE chalk colour cloud which I also sponged around the edges of the papers. The sentiment is a CE die.

It would be lovely to see you over at the challenge blog with your lace.

Baubles for Creative Expressions Design Team

I'm sharing some of my samples I made for Creative Expressions Papercut dies Hochanda shows which you can see today with Julia Watts.

I love these dies they are so easy to use and cut beautifully. There are so many ways you can use them and here are a few I came up with.

For my first card above I used glitter kiss on the frame and the backing is coloured with CS iridescent paints. I then cut away some of the other bauble in white and mounted onto the card.

This next one was on the TV last night! I used CS iridescent paints again on the cut out baubles and instead of using the other die I just used a glue pen and CS glitter to decorate. I cut away the wording from the die to mount on the bauble.

For this one I debossed some vellum and sprinkled it with glitter. I used gilding flakes on the baubles, mounting one of them behind the vellum and using the die to cut the wording out of the vellum.

Using the bauble die as a bauble! These are one side of each of them using various techinques. The top left I put vellum in between and encased CS hexagon jewels in it.
Finally the bauble cut from copper pearlescent card and and sentiment cut away from the bauble.

Christmas card and a Male Card for Swedish House Crafts

Hello! I'm here with my latest makes for Swedish House Crafts. I've had so much fun with these Maja design papers that I decided to make not only a Christmas card but a male themed card too. Just click on the item name to be taken to Swedish House Crafts shop to see the item.

First my Christmas card.

I paper pieced the Gummiapan Stacked Presents stamp with the papers. The design of the stamp makes it so easy for paper piecing.

I used Roxstamps pierced cross stitch square dies (which include that cute little star), Magnolia Business Card Letter Tags dies, Gummiapan Old Paper Dies and Doodle circle die to cut from the different papers from the Maja design pad.

I used white paper string with a simple knot over a piece of the paper.
I just love this image and it deserved centre stage on my card.

I'm entering this card into the Rudolph Day challenge over on Mo's Blog. Not too many left now!

Now for my male themed card using the same papers!

I thought the plaid design looked perfect for a tie. I used Gummiapan Tie stamp and matching die with Gummiapan Age/annniversary number dies.

I cut out the base layers with Gummiapan stitched rectangles and the tag is Magnolia Business Card Letter Tags dies again.

Finally I used a Gummiapan Birthday die. Unfortunately some items could be sold out or on pre-order - you need to grab what you want while you can, as items do not last long at Swedish House Crafts!

Christmas Town Village for Creative Expressions Design Team

This is the Christmas village card I have created with the Lisa Horton Christmas town stamps. I built the main building out to be 3d using one of the house stamps to make sides for the building.

I created the sky using Cosmic Shimmer iridescent watercolour paints, using a circle of card to make the moon and then lightly brushing over when removed with the paint. Then I stamped and coloured each of the houses and churches and cut them out - placing onto the background. For the chimney I stamped onto the background card and placed the house over the top.  For the 3d house I used card tabs to assemble together then added glitter on the roof and snow.

I stamped and cut out the trees and coloured with CS iridescent watercolour paints. Using tabs to mount them and the snow man onto the card, I then covered over with a piece of card to hide this and sprinkled with glitter.

Finally I used the "lights" stamp to edge the card and coloured with promarkers.

Past Times at CD Sunday

I've used the Debbi Moore cdrom Art Deco Roaring 1920's for the background to this card. I thought it was the perfect backdrop for my TL Charleston couple die. I had to resize it in MCS to scale it with the die.

I relcoloured the background to make it more of a golden scene and then where the moon was I placed a TL art deco circle die cut from mirri card. The sentiment is from the cdrom and I placed it directly onto the background using MCS.

I used SU glitter card (the sparkliest I know of) onto the couple die for some accents.

I'm entering this into the CD Sunday challenge for Past Times.

mid month reminder for All Creatures Great and Small at Penny Black & More

A little reminder that our current challenge at Penny Black & More is "All Creatures Great and Small". You don't have to use a PB image to enter (unless you would like to be chosen as a GDT). There are some fantastic prizes on offer and we just ask you don't use any digis and that stamping is the main focal point of your creation.

For my DT card I've used Penny Black 1658L Cheesecake Message coloured with aqua tints and distress markers. The background I created using a CC embossing folder and pebeo gilding wax.

Pen nib snippets

I think I've taken my snippets to a whole new level in making this card! Look carefully or you may miss the snippets - they are the pen nibs - or actually part of the waste when I used the die to make this card. If you look at the corners you will see the waste I used. They have been sitting on my desk because I thought they looked so much like pen nibs.

Today I finally got to use them but first decided to dig out this Crafters Companion stamp as it was the only one I could think of that had a writing connection. The dies I have used are from Swedish House Crafts as I thought both were paper related.

Now I have finally got that idea out of my head I am off to the Snippets Playground - so long since I managed to play along Miss Di has probably changed the keys.

Flowers at Ooh la la Creative challenge blog

Our challenge at Ooh la la Creations challenge blog has been chosen by Michelle this time and it's "flowers".

I've used one of my favourite OLL cdroms -  Shoes in Bloom vol 1 for my DT card.

I printed all the elements from the cdrom, including the faux page curl paper. The papers do all the work so I just added a little ribbon.

Here's a close up of the main image.

I even decorated the inside with one of the pre designed inserts. I added a few punched butterflies too.

Thanks for looking and I hope we see you over at the challenge.

Here's my latest DT card for Creative Expressions.

I used the Snowflake embossing folder and the went over with the periwinkle and silver chrome Glitter Kiss. I cut around the inside leaving a frame. I then embossed and cut out some more snowflakes using the folder.

I stamped the sentiment from Phill Martins elegant sentiments et using Memento Paris Dusk ink onto my base card and then covered with vellum, I added the embossed frame over the top, placing the extra snowflakes randomly over the card. Finally I added some holographic hexagons.

All creatures great and small @ Penny Black & More challenge

Our new challenge begins today over at Penny Black & More and this month it's "All creatures great and small".

For my DT card I've used one of my new Penny Black stamps 40-533 Sew much fun. Although this design has been out for a while it was in rubber and this a cling stamp. I'm not too good at colouring the little mice and so I decided I would try to paper piece them as well as the machine and material. I used Penny Black paper pads and the finishing touch are the little stitch dies in the corners.

I do hope you can join us for a chance to win fabulous prizes this month from our sponsors who this month are:-
Penny Black, Crafts U Love, Sizzix and Crafty ribbons.

Anything goes at CD Sunday

I was so pleased when I saw that the new challenge at CD Sunday was "Anything goes" as it meant I could have another play with my newest cd from Dolly Dimples.

Just like my last card I used one of the "mixed media inky backgrounds" this time I did soften the edges with a little TH Peedled paint. The rest I built up layer by layer in the programme. The top version I resized to be larger in MCS whilst the bottom one is how it printed from the cdrom. There are just a couple of subtle changes in the layers and sentiment, otherwise they are the same. I also cut out the Happy Birthday and added onto the cards by hand.

Finished by mounting onto some black card, with the addition of a CC edge die on the top one.

Yesterday I was at Hochanda with Suha from Swedish House Crafts for her first show. She did so well and these are a few of the behind the scenes shots.

Sitting in the chair in reception.

 Watching in the green room.

Not Suha but the filming of another show.

Mixed Media @ The Male Room

My card today uses mainly the new cdrom I got Mix It Up Fabulously - I do really love what you can do with this cdrom. Although the background looks inky - it's actually printed directly from the cdrom - I just recolourized it and the main image. I also took the image into a graphics programme and added the words from the cdrom onto the balloons.

For the mixed media aspect I have added some birds cut from a die, some gesso to the flowers and banners and flags on the balloon. I thought it toned down the flowers - although men like flowers too!

Finally I added some left over waste from the die from this card. So I am also nipping into the Snippets Playground - well I was, just realised that I have already entered!  I also have some more waste I saved - for another card - the die just keeps on giving LOL!

I'm entering this card into the Mixed media challenge at The Male Room.

I've had a great day out today with a friend in Derby. First we went to the Book Cafe for a little cake.

Then to a fabulous Museum I only just found out about. Mr Pickfords House. A beautiful Georgian House.

Where at the moment they happened to have a collection of Vivienne Westwood shoes - so my inner fashionista was satisfied too. I knew the shoes were high - but not this high!
Rounded off by seeing this wonderful quilt made to commemorate the Pentrich Uprising.
