Sunday snippets

I recently when on a lovely dabble day and made this with Clare Rowlands. Now I couldn't let the snippets I had over go to waste and so I used them on this card together with a topper and sentiment a crafty friend had sent me. I added a little ribbon and used as the base a Craftwork precut card I have had for ages.
But then I wanted to use up another of the craftwork cards - this time a mug. So I used my Joanna Sheen die and cut these shapes from some snippets.
The snippet playground is open for two weeks at the moment, so although I missed last week I can skip in there now.

Stepping out - CD Sunday

I actually made this card last week using the new serif cdrom Craftscapes. I used the Manhattan in winter collection and then added some items from another serif cdrom Pin Up. It originally read shopaholic, but I amended it to Shoeaholic!
I printed it out onto some textured cardstock for a different effect. I used a tattered lace die to cut the sentiment and backed it with some patterned paper, adding a little die cut shoe.

It's for the Stepping out challenge at CD Sunday. Then I wondered if CD Sunday allow digikits - although they are from a cdrom - I notice there is a Serif kit on their banner - but I thought I would do another card just in case and only finished it today.

Last night I went for a meal with a friend and then to see the preview of the new Spy movie starring Mellisa McCarthy and our own Miranda Hart. It was sooo funny, really good. Anyway, by the time I got home I didn't want to craft........

But finally I did get to finish my second card.  I used the Ladies Collection cdrom from MCS for the shoe pickture and roses. The background DP is from my stash and then I used some double sided mirri card to cut a tattered lace shoe out twice. The sentiment is from spellbinders and I cut twice once in mirri and then in the DP and off set it slightly. Finally some bow ribbon I have had for ages which I thought fitted this card.

I think that's just about enough shoes for now. Off to enter the challenge at CD Sunday - just in time!

#31 Butterflies + D is for Doily

I've finally made the right card for Mrs A's Butterfly challenge. It seemed every time I got around to a card the challenge had changed!
For this card I've used my brushos to create a paper which I then die cut with Tattered lace dies, the small butterflies are a MS punch. I've then used a preprinted card from Craftwork cards for the base, it's a very pale blue with dots and I thought it set the whole thing off rather well.
I've made a stock of backgrounds using the brushos and various techniques, so hopefully they will all make it onto a card soon.
My thanks go to Jane of Onions and Paper blog as she reminded me with her card 1) that the challenge was a new one and 2) that I had this doily die!

Happy Birthday at Allsorts

I've used the wax resist and embossing technique for this card. I used the same embossing folder on all three layers but the bottom layer is just embossed with TH Victorian velvet and spun sugar ink dusted over. The stamp is from creative expressions and the sentiment. To finish it off I used a Sue Wilson die for the leaves and some ribbon from my stash.
I'd like to enter this card into the Birthday challenge at Allsorts who are celebrating 6 years - well done ladies.

May Rudolph Day

It's time for Rudolph Day again - that came round fast!
For this month's card I've used a Crafter's Companion Cdrom "Father Christmas" added some glitter - distressed glitter from TH though! and mounted onto some card I sprayed with Crafter's companion silver glitter spray, which I thought made a change from using glitter card and it keeps the costs down for posting.
If you want to join in go to Mo's blog and link up your Christmas card - you've got until the end of the month.

Circles and squares challenge at Ooh la la challenge blog

Our challenge this time on Ooh La La has been chosen by Wynn and it's Circles and squares. I decided to for my DT card to use a tonic die to make the whole of the front of my card, ensuring when I cut it that I left one side of the die overhanging so it didn't cut through the card.
I then printed the backing paper and main image from the Paula Oakley cdrom. I loved this image as soon as I saw it - so pretty and fresh and although I wouldn't normally use orange I thought it went well with the blue. I then printed a faux bow and buttons from the cdrom and punched daisies from the paper to mount all over the card.
I added a little sentiment in orange - you can see it better in real life! It says "Wishing you a lovely day".

You've got two weeks to enter - looking forward to seeing your interpretation of circles and squares. Remember for more inspiration visit the blog and see my teamies fab cards.

LIM week 224 - Hello sunshine

The challenge on less is more this week is "Hello sunshine" hence the title of my card which I cut using a Tattered lace palatable die. I used a clever cut stencil for the outline and then raided my snippet box for the right shades of paper - this took a lot longer than I thought it would - but got there in the end! Then I mounted the whole thing onto a snippet of black card.

I'm also entering it into the snippets challenge as I used snippets.

Seems like this is the only sunshine we will be seeing this week - torrential rain here today. Very different to the beautiful sunshine we enjoyed on a weekend away in York. We even had a visit to Betty's for afternoon tea which I prebooked for the upstairs Belmont Room - more expensive, but no queuing and wasted less time.

The view from our hotel room.

There was an ice cream boat we saw from our boat trip and it had moored when we got back. I thought it looked like these ducks had just been for an ice cream!

Mid month reminder for Penny Black & More use your dies and punches

Morning everyone - just a reminder that we have the Penny Black & More challenge for dies and punches this month.

For my DT card I've used the Penny Black pennant die and the little Christmas village - but as you can see it doesn't have to be for Christmas. The hills I made from a tattered lace die and the scene is mounted onto a preprinted card from Brenda Walton that I have had in my stash for ages! I drew some little birds in the sky just to finish it off and added a Penny Black sentiment from the "wishes" set.

Thanks for looking and hopefully you'll find time to join in with our challenge, or if you have already you can link up to 3 entries.

Bokeh effect

I've been playing with the Bokeh effect which is popular at the moment. I made two sheets to use, one with watercolour paper and one on glossy card.
I decided to use the stamp from Tuesday's LIM card again this time paper piecing with the bokeh background I created and then punching circles with the raindrops on.

For the piece using the glossy card - I don't think the technique worked so well or at least is is different to what I expected. I think the sentiment speaks for itself!

I'm entering these cards into the challenge at House of Cards - bokeh effect challenge.

LIM week 223 - one layer and water

I've had this stamp of the lady with her umbrella for a while, I won it in a challenge. So when I saw the challenge on Less is More was water, I decided to put her under a rather heavy rain shower using the water droplet stamp! The sentiment is from papertrey ink. I coloured the image with spectrum noir pencils, I really need to find time to watch the dvd on how to use them properly LOL!

Use a pre coloured image at Ooh la la creations challenge blog

Hello - it's time for the new challenge on Ooh La La Creations Challenge blog and this time we want to see you use a pre coloured image on your creation.
For my DT card I used one of the shoes in bloom cd roms. Of course I chose a Poppy shoe! and mounted onto some red card cut from a spellbinders die and stamped a sentiment. I then added a few tiny pearls.
Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see your pre coloured images.

Curious cats @ CD SUnday

The challenge on CD Sunday is Curious cats and so I decided to use the one CD I own from MCS that I know definitely has cats on it which is Reigning Cats and Dogs. I need to make time to look through some other cds as I am sure I have others!
I used this image of the cat and placed it over the larger cat background. I added the butterflies, putting one on the nose of the cat and adding the caption "hello". I then placed it over another background paper added a shadow and then tiled the cat in minature but without the tiara to form the border. Once printed out I added some ribbon.
I've even decorated the inside - unusual for me!

LIM week 222 colour

The Less is More challenge this week is for opposite colours on the colour wheel. I've gone with purple and green mainly because I got these fab new sequins in shades of purple and then I dug some green ones out of my stash. I've used a set of "spot" stamps that I haven't used for so long, but inspired by the rage for the Bokeh technique I dug them out. I don't think that technique is too good for CAS so I stuck with this simpler version. I've teamed them with a sentiment from one of my newest stamp sets. Mounted onto some green SU card.

GDT at Stamping Sensations

This is my second post today - please scroll down for my Penny Black & More post.

This is my GDT card for the Stamping Sensations blog as I was lucky enough to win their challenge a few months ago. Their challenge this month is "flower power". I've used the new shutter card die from Tattered Lace, you will be seeing a lot of this die on my blog!
The stamps are by Gina K and I have paperpieced the spotted ones and coloured the centre ones, whilst the ones on the diagonal squares are stamped straight onto real red SU cardstock. The sentiment die is from SU and the frond stamp is by Tattered Lace.
Thanks for looking and I hope to be able to see your entries at the Stamping Sensations challenge this month.

Dies and punches at Penny Black & More challenge

Well it's the first Sunday of the month so that means the start of a new challenge over on Penny Black & More. This time we would like to see your dies and punches on a card, with as usual stamping as the focal point, with no digis allowed.
For my DT card I've used the Penny Black stamp "cheesecake wish" - one of my many favourite PB stamps! I got out the pan pastels to colour the image and the die cut. Layering with another die cut and an embossed panel which I also ran some inks over.
Don't forgot to visit the blog and see all the lovely inspiration from my teamies too.

In memory of Wendy aka Purple Crazy @CD Sunday

CD Sunday challenge are running a month long challenge in memory of Wendy aka Purple Crazy and is befitting Wendy the card has to incorporate the colour purple - and use elements from a cdrom. For my card I've used Debbi Moore Shabby chic vintage flowers for the pattern papers the card stock is SU. The stamps are from Gina K.
I also love purple and I've enjoyed creating a card to remember Wendy by.
