Creative Expressions Saturday - Best Wishes

This week I've used the Australian background die to make a simple frame for my card. The background is the Pinpoint roses embossing folder with the new Old Gold texture paste over the top.

Then I stamped the Retro roses stamp embossing in  brilliant sparkle embossing power White gold and copper powder. I cut out the centre  of the stamp so that the background could be seen and put dots of old gold cosmic shimmer around the aperture. I then cut a circle from another piece of pinpoint roses embossed card and rubbed over the Old Gold gilding wax stamped and embossed the petite sentiment onto another circle and then mounted up with foam tape.

Finally I rubbed a little of the old gold gilding wax over the roses on the stamped image.

You can't really appreciate the sparkle in my photo, so I tried to take a closer view. The card colour is truer to real life in the image above, in order to show the sparkle I have had to lighten the image and this has made the card stock look paler than it is.

LIM week #273 Saints, dragons or heroes

You might think that as my Less is More challenge card for this week is a bit last minute that the theme stumped me. However, I had just the set in mind that I wanted to use from Clearly Besotted - I just haven't had the time until now to get it done.

I've also used the cityscape die from Clearly Besotted and the frame is the "waste" from the spellbinder confetti die. I was going to use the die, but thought the waste looked useful, so that is what I went with.

Boy card

I made myself a promise to make more male cards this year, but I haven't done very well with it! Here is one I managed to make though. I'm entering it into the Simon Says stamp Wednesday challenge which is Anything goes.

Clarity Challenge 4

The Clarity Calendar challenge this month is re-create this canvas.

I didn't have any of the stamps or the stencil Barbara used! But I have followed the instructions. I have no grunge paste so I used Cosmic Shimmer sparkle paste instead.

My canvas is five wee shops instead of five birds! It's my first attempt at a canvas so although it is not really up to much I did want to take the challenge as a practice - although based on this I may never do one again!

April Rudolph Day

For my Rudolph day card this month I've used lots of little snippets and a die to make some quilts. I've used some kraft card to give it a country feel. I really want the larger version of these dies, but they never seem to be in stock.

I'm entering this into Mo's Rudolph Day challenge and also at the Snippets Playground.

Photo inspiration at Ooh la la creations challenge

It's Alli's turn to host the challenge this time at Ooh La La challenge blog, and she has chosen this photo as the inspiration for your projects.

#203 Photo InspirationI've chosen to use the Carnival of colour cdrom for my DT card.
I've taken one of the card inserts for the main mat and then placed one of the oval decoupage pieces over it. The background paper which co-ordinates is also on the cdrom.

We'd love to see how you are inspired by Alli's photo.

I'm also entering this card into the red white and blue challenge at Allsorts.

Creative Expressions Saturday - Thank you

I couldn't resist using the new Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Gilding polishes again this week for my CE DT card.

I've used black foundation card stock and applied the polish first in citrus green and cut out using noble squares and then I stamp the image again onto purple mist gilding polish and then cut out the flowers and decoupaged onto the main stamped image.

I embossed some card with the pinpoint rose embossing folder and then used the metallic polishes again! rubbing some sparkle texture paste over too.

I've coloured white ribbon with the gilding polish too!

Clarity challenge 38 - masking

The Clarity challenge this month is "masking". I chose to use first of all one of the Clarity stencils to mask my paper and I cut a mask out for the Charm, and balloon so that when I applied the ink through the stencil they were left untouched. I then added a few other clarity stamps and went over the cat with a spectrum noir black glitter pen and the "charm" with a purple glitter pen. Finally I added a little white ink around some of the stamping.

I'm also entering this as my third entry into the Stamping Sensations Girly challenge.

LIM #272 - use three stamps

What an absolute beautiful day it has been here today - lovely blue sky. Shame I have to go to the dentist!

It's taken me a while to find the three stamps I wanted to use. But once I got an idea and went with it I am pleased with how it turned out. I've maybe been a little too clever for my own good by building in another reference to the sentiment - can you spot it?

So this is for the challenge at Less is More which this week is to use three stamps and because I used two snippets from my box I am also hopping over to the Snippet Playground to show everyone there too.

CD Sunday Special Birthday Celebrations

A nice easy challenge at CD Sunday this time. As part of their birthday celebrations they would like you to back link to a card you have entered at some point over their 6 years of challenges. You can even enter if you are a new comer to the challenge, as long as your make contains something from a cdrom.
My entry into the challenge was a post here originally back in June 2014. I've certainly had a trip down memory lane looking back at my entries. I finally went with this one as I just love the image of the girl and also the background paper. The components are all from the Debbi Moore cdrom Shabby Seaside Chic.

Birthdays @ Penny Black & More - mid month reminder

For my DT card I have actually used an offcut from next months DT card - so keep a look out for that! I couldn't bear to throw away this flower so I cut it out and then used a piece of the background that I had cut a square from for my other card. I created the background using the Art Love stamp set from Penny Black with their Patina stencil and brushos together with a burnt sienna brusho spray. I can't stop using this stamp set-so versatile and beautiful images.

I added a sentiment from Sprinkles and Smiles sentiment set from Penny Black and then did some squiggles with a pen to finish it off.

So this is just a little reminder of our lovely easy Birthday challenge over at Penny Black & More. Hope to see you there and remember you can enter up to three times - just be sure to feature a hand stamped stamp on your card.

Creative Expressions Saturday - Metallic Gilding Polishes Tag

Morning everyone. For My CE DT piece this week I have chosen to decorate an MDF tag. You can see in the powerpoint below how I created it step by step.
I used the new Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Gilding Polishes which are just so lush - I can't stop using them.
Here's a close up where I have tried to capture the beautiful sheen that you get from them.

Snippet with Sarntangle

When Sarn designed and made her Sarntangles into a stamp set I was lucky enough to get a set. Now I can't remember if that was last year or the year before.......I did stamp one onto a snippet of watercolour card and had a play absolutely months ago. I've had it sitting on my desk but I wasn't sure how to use it. Then this little snippet of kraft card came along and I thought bingo! I also decided to take my original snippet of stamping and cut out with a spellbinders distressed edge square.
another little purchase inspired by Sarn were my silver and gold pens and I thought maybe I would give the image a little update with those too, so you see it was meant to be that it sat on my desk all that time!
Off to the snippet playground to show Sarn (if I can get her off the hooch) and the others.

Get Well Wishes @ CD Sunday

This is my card for the Get Well Wishes challenge at CD Sunday. I chose this image from the Say it with Words cdrom from Ooh La La as I thought it was perfect to cheer someone up if they are unwell. I used one of the embellishments and placed a blank circle over it to create my greeting and then used one of the others as a stopper for the easel card. The base paper curled edge is from the cdrom - doesn't it look so realistic, I placed the stopper as if it is holding the page back.

I also printed the design onto some textured cardstock to add to the feel of a water colour painting - here is a close up.

LIM #271 Geometric shapes or patterns on one layer card

Had my thinking cap on for a few days for the Less is More challenge of Geometric shapes or patterns on a one layer card. I did think about a honeycomb but eventually I chose to use a Clarity stencil and a stamp that references a geometric shape too. Brushed through the stencil with some TH weathered wood and very light wilted violet.

Words, words, words at Ooh La La creations challenge

It's my turn to host the challenge this fortnight at Ooh La La creations challenge blog and I've chosen the theme words, words, words. Mainly because I love the Say it with Words cd rom from OLL.

Basically I would like to see lots of words on your card, whether they are a sentiment, verse or just random words!

For my DT card I wanted to make a card to give the OH and these words fitted perfectly, but the image had a little boy sitting with the cat. So I used MCS and cut out a little girl and carefully removed the boy and put her in his place. She is hanging from a swing on the original artwork so she fitted nicely into this space.

I can't wait to see you word creations. Remember we love to see you use the Ooh La La cdroms but you don't have to. There are always the lovely freebies at the OLL website too.

Before I got we have a DT call. See the blog here for the link up.

Do you like working with CDs?
Would you like to join an easy going, friendly DT?
If the answer is yes, then you could be just the person we are looking for!

We are looking for a new team member, starting June 2016.  You do not need to have previous DT experience, just be enthusiastic and blog regularly.  Our challenges run every two weeks and we take it in turns to choose the challenge theme and winners.  You will be expected to comment on 2 out of every 10 entries which is an important part of the DT commitment.

If you'd like the chance to work with our products and feel you would be an asset to our creative team please add one card to the link below showing us your creative style.

DT call ends 30 April

Creative Expressions Saturday - Hold onto each other

For my DT card today I have used the new paper pad from Phill Martin - Blossoms paper pad. Each sheet has a patterned and plain side and so I have reversed some of the sheets for my matting. The stamps are from Just Rite and the set is called Loving Sentiments. Finally the die used is the refined rectangle set from the Sue Wilson range. I cut two frames and then cut into four, positioning them at the four corners, offsetting the darker one underneath.

I used a circle punch/die to make my "flowers" from the blossom paper pad, layering them up.

Girly #18 birthday

I'm back today with another birthday card, but this time for someone who is going to be #18. This has caused a little bit of disagreement with her Grand dad who thinks it should have 18th not #18 and that the image has a tattoo! Well the young lady herself has a tattoo and so do many others today, I picked this stamp because I thought the image would appeal to her.

I've used promarkers to colour her in and added some sparkle with my new pens (thanks Sarn) and the beautiful purple mist metallic gilding polish over the shoes and die cuts, with the exception of "birthday" which I used a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen over.

It only seems like yesterday that I was making her 8th birthday card - but she is off to a spa with her friends for her birthday - so she is all grown up now.

I'm entering this card into the one for the girls challenge at Stamping Sensations as my second entry and also at Simon Says challenge for birthdays.

Happy Birthday @ Simon Says

Simon Says challenge is 7 years old this week - so they want to see birthday cards for the challenge theme.

I got this stamp pre-loved, it's one I have wanted for ages as I love the look on the little girls face - think I might have the same one but I wouldn't need the stack of books LOL! I also love this tonic top note die and I've just got the circles and squares so look out for those on my cards.

I'm also entering this card into the Stamping Sensations challenge where the theme is "one for the girls".

Thanks for looking.

LIM #270 White space but not white!

This week Less is More challenge want to see white space that isn't white! My first thought was to use just kraft card, but then I wasn't too happy with how it turned out - maybe not "less" enough so then I made the second card using a new Penny Black Iris stamp coloured with promarkers.

I used the Spectrum Noir sparkle pen for the flowers and the die cuts - you can see it better in this photo. I also used my new silver pen to dot the centres of the flowers.

Dress snippets

I made a card a few weeks ago here using some fabric snippets - this snippet was left over as it didn't quite fit the card. So I combined the snippet with this fab TH embossing folder using yet another snippet. I love the detail on this folder and it is a shame to cover any of it up - so this little snippet fitted nicely in the space along with a PTI sentiment.

BTW my original card has been featured on the shopping blog 44 birthday card ideas post.

As well as popping into the Snippets Playground with this card (where Sarn has been leading me astray with new purchases and hooch - what a combination), I'm entering this card into the Simon Says challenge which is anything goes.

Birthdays at Penny Black & More challenge

A nice easy challenge this month at Penny Black & More - birthdays! We probably make more of these cards than most so hopefully you can join in with us. We don't need you to use a Penny Black stamp to enter - unless you want to have a go at the GDT spot. We must see stamping as the focal point of your work please and no digis.

As usual there are lots of fantastic prizes on offer so well worth joining in.

For my DT card I have used PB stamp Hidden Lane on an aqua tint background. I stamped the PB sentiment and then framed it with a spellbinder die adding another die cut along the edge.

Creative Expressions Saturday - Love is.........

Good morning - welcome to my regular Saturday morning post for my Creative Expressions DT card.

I fell in love with this rose stamp and the pinpoint rose embossing folder as soon as I saw them - they are beautiful and great to work with too. I teamed the with a paper from the insert paper pad from Phill Martin and the eternal ivy embossing folder. Final finishing touches from Craft Consortium.

I stamped the main image and then embossing using the colour cloud inks as a resist. I also used the colour cloud inks to add colour to the pinpoint roses embossing folder. The sentiment is from a Justrite set called Loving sentiments.

Take it make it April challenge

A new challenge for me is the Take it Make Challenge at Craft Stamper magazine. This month the challenge is Spring flowers and I was keen to use my latest Penny Black flower stamps - so here they are. I made the background on the gelli plate with distress inks and then coloured the flowers and butterfly with my Inktense pencils.
