The theme for the challenge at Allsorts this week is "Oriental". I decided to use my tattered lace panda and keep it simple. I cut the die twice, once for the panda and once for the bamboo. I used an old stamp for the sentiment and two sets of oriental peel offs.
I really want to get to see the Pandas for real in Edinburgh zoo, maybe this will be the year.......

April Rudolph day - Christmas shoes

It's time for Rudolph Day at Sarn's blog, where she would like us to make two christmas cards. I'm a bit late posting as we went away to London Friday/Saturday.

We saw Mama Mia on Friday night which was fabulous, so much better than the film! IMO!
Then yesterday we went to the Tower of London, which I went to when I was very little and could only remember being in a dark room looking at the crown jewels whilst being hurried along. Well, there is sooo much more to it than that, what a truly fabulous and educational day out. They now have a conveyor belt to take you by the jewels too, so no loitering!
I had it all planned out to get back to the hotel and pick up the bags before heading for the train. What I didn't count on was none of the buses stopping because they were full up. So after 20 mins we started to walk, but there was a diversion and the buses we could have caught had been diverted - eventually walked as far as Fleet Street and managed to get on a bus back to the hotel get our bags and catch another bus to the train station. Thankfully we made it but not without a little bit of stressing out from me, so a nice relaxing craft day today I think.
Both my cards this month have a shoe theme, the top one is bugaboo, which I printed and cut out with my silhouette and the bottom one is from Pink Petticoat mounted onto a pre scored glitter card.

Deco Drama at CD Sunday

I've not managed to join in with the CD Sunday challenges for some time, but this week with some free time and a challenge of Deco Drama, I am there right away. I decided to use the MCS Deco Follies cdrom by Nancy Watt, although those of you that know my passion for fashion can guess I had a few to choose from!

The card I made yesterday using free papers had these two designs on the reverse, so that decided the colour choice as I felt it was perfect for an art deco card. I've used a docrafts embossing folder and letterpress technique with verdigris embossing powder and then added some tiny dots of cosmic shimmer pva in bronze onto some of the raised detail. The corners from the top of the image which I cut away then fitted onto the corners of the card.
The finishing touch of the ribbon, which is a colour I don't normally have to hand, but a crafting friend had sent it me and it fitted perfectly.

Makes me smile - LIM week 168

It's been awhile since I entered a lot of my favourite challenges, but hopefully I can put that right this week. Starting with this my card for Less is More challenge - Makes me smile. This is a free stamp set with a magazine a year or so ago and I used the free papers that came with it to paper piece the image and cut out the Joanna Sheen banner, using some of the waste to balance the card.

On the point of making me smile. I just had a phone call from a chap who said he was from the hearing centre. Being a totally unsolicited call and a Bank Holiday, I thought I would play a little. I said "sorry what was that" he repeated he was from the hearing centre, I said "sorry, I can't hear you" he repeated his line, I said "hello, is anyone there" and he repeated.......... I had to put the phone down at that point, he obviously didn't see the irony! Of course the phone has just rung again, but I know the number now so won't be answering again.

Reminder for Quirky crafts challenge

This is my second post for today - please scroll down for my snippets makes.
The mixed media mayhem continues on Quirky Crafts challenge and for my second GDT card this is what I did. I used a digi from the sponsor Squigglefly called Buttercup Suzie - isn't she great.
The background is spray inks and stamping, I used the co-ordinating embossing folder from Stampin Up and did a letterpress technique. I put versamark clear ink over the raised part of the folder and embossed some card. I then used verdigris embossing powder and mica flakes and other embossing powders with glitter to created a mixed media background. The digi is coloured with fleximarkers and I rollered over a SU script stamp in bundled sage and sprayed with a mica ink again.

Easter snippets

Happy Easter everyone, I hope you haven't eaten too much chocolate. Personally I have demolished part of a large Lindt bunny!
I hopping (very seasonal) over to Pixies snippet playground with my makes for this week. An easter card for the MIL which uses snippets for the corners made with one of my new tonic dies and also the main die cut which is one of the new Spellbinder gold lables 28 - waited ages for these, but cheaper in the long run to wait. The image is PB and I have used her for all my Easter cards this year. Here's another one.

My second snippets make are two little handbags I made for daughters of girls I work with. I filled them with little chocloate eggs and they both adored them as they are only 3 and 4. The die is from SU and I then used some off cuts from my easter cards to decorate the bags.

mid month reminder for blossoms and blooms at Penny Black & More

The eagle eyed amongst you will recognise I have used the same stamp as I did for the my DT card for my earlier challenge post this month - PB mixed media 4037K. This time I gilded the flower with the flakes and used a different nestie to cut out the stamped image. The sentiment is from PB wishes stamp set.
Please do come along and join in our challenge at Penny Black & More we would love to see your creations and there are as always fantastic prizes on offer from our sponsors.

Mixed media mayhem GDT at Quirky Crafts challenge

I was asked if I would like to be a GDT for Quirky Crafts challenge and of course said yes. The challenge for this fortnight is Mixed Media Mayhem. I'm not one for getting messy normally, but I had seen Sue Wilson do this technique last weekend. Basically take coloured cosmic shimmer glues and randomly swirl them onto cardstock. The hardest part for me was waiting for it to dry. Luckily I had some visitors this morning and was distracted long enough for it to be dry and ready to use when they had gone.  I then cut my card up using the patchwork template from Clever Cut. The wonderful image is from the sponsor Squigglefly and is called Dragonfly garden. I printed it in copper ink and then added some glitter to the wings and a gem I took off a Christmas card a couple of years ago, which fitted perfectly.

Blossoms and blooms at Penny Black & More challenge

Our challenge at Penny Black & More this month is Blossoms and Blooms. I decided to break out my gilding flakes for my DTcard and some flitter glue. I put the glue directly onto the PB stamp"4037K mixed media",  so that parts of the music and words are gilded. I then coloured the flower with promarkers and also glided the edges of the die cut. For my background I used a leaf spray stamp from Flonz stamps and stamped using the flitter glue, applying the gilding flakes over the top and to the edges of the chloe stem die cuts. The sentiment is a dlite die cut.
This is the most success I have had with gilding flakes and I think it is down to the flitter gluee Indigo blu it really made a difference and I didn't seem to use as much of the flakes.
Here is the card in a close up  to show the detail.

I do hope you can join us for our challenge this month. Remember no digis allowed but you can use any stamp but please make it the focal point of your work. Lots of lovely prizes up for grabs and also the chance to be a GDT with us.

no flowers........

Really love the new dies from tonic - but need more time to play with them. Here is a quick card using the handbag top die cut from purple mirri. The shoe was a die cut I already had and then I added the feather and gem with a little craftwork butterfly. The sentiment is a part of a new set I got from Hobby Art.
I'd like to enter this card into the challenges at:
Allsorts which this week is No flowers
Charisma Cardz- anything goes
