LIM week 300! Celebrations and Festivals

WOW! Less is More Challenge is celebrating it's 300th week! The theme rather fittingly is Celebrations and Festivals. In the continued purge to create Christmas cards I've gone with two festive makes for a start. Using the Sizzix Tim Holtz scrible die for a wreath and a CE Sue Wilson holly die with the sentiment from Tattered Lace. Embossed a little white card with the Crafters companion vintage snowflake folder.
The second card is a variation on the theme, not sure if I like this better or not?
Then using the heart from the same die set and a Leonie Embossing folder with a sentiment die from the CE Sue Wilson shadow box collection.

Let's make a start on Christmas @ Allsorts

I've had the same set of Sheena stamps out that I used for this card last week here. Instead of using the embossing folder this time I've used trees but from a stamp by Inkylicious and also a sentiment from them. I masked off the image to stamp the trees but unfortunately have stamped trees below the deer! then I shaded with aqua tints.

I'm entering into allsorts challenge with their theme of Lets make a start on Christmas and I was also very lucky to win the challenge on the random draw last week.

Blue, orange and yellow @ Male Room challenge

I have had this stamp for a while and believe it or not he is supposed to be Paul Newman (?) not sure what he would think about this jacket he is wearing but I needed it to fit with the theme at the Male room challenge blog of Blue, orange and yellow. I stamped the image onto a snippet of blue card and then masked it with a post it while I applied the colours over a brick stencil for the background.

I then used lots of snippets for the wall and greeting so I am also playing for fun at Snippets Playground too.

Paws @ CD Sunday

The challenge on CD Sunday is Paws. I took it a little further with my own sentiment! The card was built in MCS using images on one of their cdroms called Little Miracles. I liked that the extra elements were fitting for this time of year. I also printed the background again and used it inside the card.

October Rudolph Day

I'm still in the midst of Christmas card making so this months Rudolph Day didn't come as so much of a shock as it does in other months. I've been experimenting with the white ink pad again. The cards below are a variation on a theme of the card I posted here the other day.

I tried out one of my favourite stamps in Watering Can ink on a bauble.

These are of course all for Mo's challenge Rudolph Day over on her blog

Tiny Tots @ Ooh la la Creations Challenge blog

It's time for our new challenge at Ooh La La Creations. Thanks so much to everyone who entered our last challenge which was my pick of Shades of Autumn. So many lovely entries made it hard to choose just three. Don't forget to check on the blog today to see if you won or made the top three.

Our new theme chosen by Michelle is Tiny Tots. I've used the Paula Oakley collection cdrom for my image and papers.
I love doing jigsaws and so this image made me think of one. I used a stencil to trace the jigsaw outline all over the image and then cut one away to place on the card. I used word to create my sentiment which I printed onto one of the tags. Finally I added one of the very realistic paper ribbons from the cdrom.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you at the challenge blog with your entry.

Sparkle and Shine @ Allsorts and a little baking

I am on a Christmas card making streak at the moment, so when I saw the challenge at Allsorts this week was Sparkle and Shine, I knew I had just made a card perfect for that challenge.

I used gloss white card to cut a frame and little stand to emulate a snowglobe. The glitter is paper made from an old glitter kit I rediscovered and the little sentiment is the one I used yesterday with some snowflakes from the same set. A little silver glitter brushing to "ground" the globe.

I made this lovely spiced fruit loaf from the recipe over on Jane's blog Onions and paper - I can recommend it - tastes lovely.

LIM #299 recipe - acetate or vellum

I saw a technique for embossing acetate and colouring it with aqua tints. I have just got this CC tree embossing folder and thought it would look good using the technique with white and silver paints. That was a few days ago and it has sat on my desk unused because it didn't seem to fit with what I wanted to do.

When I saw the Less is More challenge this week was acetate or vellum I decided to give it another go. I had a brainwave of using CE cosmic shimmer gilding polish on the back of the acetate and I am so pleased with the result. I actually made the green one below first, but then thought about using a mix of other colours and like that one better.

I stamped the deer from a Sheena Douglass set and cut around the top of them. I then cut a frame from white gloss card and added a sentiment which was in a free magazine set last year.
I love this embossing folder it brings back memories of the woods in Canada last year when I took this photo.

Christmas Clarity

The current Clarity stamp challenge is for circles or squares. I decided to have two circles on this card, my bauble and the moon. All the stamps are from Clarity.

I masked off my card with a circle cut from copy paper and then used ink direct to the card to create the background with a little glitter.

Christmas snippets

Just popping into the snippets playground with this Christmas card made from snippets. The smallest snippets are from tiny pieces of mirri card that I keep thinking do I need? - but now I have these shadow box frames with tiny dies I think I do!

The robin is from Hobby Art and the sentiment is from a Lawn Fawn set. I used aqua tints to paint the background and the stamped image.

mid month reminder for Penny Black & More challenge

I'm here with my DT card to remind you of our challenge ths month over at Penny Black & More. We are looking for cards that use these colours as their inspiration

October colour inspiration

For my card I've used Penny Black Happy Notes with some Hunkydory card as a base and the embossing folder is from Crafters Companion magazine free gift. I used versamark ink in the folder and then applied gilding flakes. Two little photo corners to finish it off are from a TL die set.

Here's a close up of the embossing.

Look forward to seeing what you create or if you have already entered you have plenty of time to get your maximum 3 entries in. As usual we have fantastic prizes on offer and of course if you use a PB stamp the chance to be a GDT.

For my DT make I have made a Save the Date card using the CE Arbour Gate die as the focal point.
If you would like to see how I made the card I have step by step instructions on the powerpoint below.

Please do visit the blog to see what my teamies have made and will be making.

LIM week 298 - Spiders or insects

I've bought a Spellbinders spider and web die set as one of the Grandchildren was into Spiderman - but before I could make a card he was into WWE (Wrestling) so I never got to use the die - until today! I had also bought an IO spiders web stamp which I intended to use on some cards at some point, so again today was the day and here are the results.

The above card is a background I created on blotting paper with brushos, I embossed the web over the top with ivory and stamped with a foilage stamp too in grey. The sentiment says Lose yourself in nature and find peace - which as it was stamped over the embossing doesn't show up too well but I thought went with the essence of the sentiment.
This last set I nearly forgot about - from the last release from Clearly Besotted.
All of this is for the Less is More challenge where they want to see spiders or insects.

Country Living - CD Sunday

I've left it late again to enter the CD Sunday challenge again - you get two weeks, not sure where it goes! Anyway my card for the theme of Country Living uses  A Walk in the Countryside by Craftworld with artwork from Betty Davies.

I love this topper as it prints part in colour and part in black and white, so apart from a hobbycraft sentiment I didn't think it need too much else, just a little fox. I used a TL die to cut from some embossed card a frame and inside I put the other image which reverses the colour.

Colours of Autumn

I love autumn and so another chance to make a card appeared at Allsorts challenge for "The colours of autumn". I've used my Penny Black leaves again but this time with the little fox and hedgie from Penny Black. I created the background using aquatints and the leaves as stencils. Then I stamped over the same images with brown inks.

Snippets from snippets

You might remember seeing this card HERE the other week in the playground - where I CASED Miss Di. From that snippet I had these three squares of snippets left over. Similar layout - but using stamps from Penny Black.

I used aqua tints for the background with some water dropped onto it, then used spectrum noir glitter pens and distress crayons to colour. Also the MISTI to line up the stamps and stamped them all together - really liking this tool.

Now - have you spotted my cunning 2016 reference??? I saw some Christmas cards in a shop with 2016 on them and I rather liked the idea, but I stopped myself buying them (oh the shame if I had!) and incorporated it like this instead - have you spotted it yet?

The die cut is from Lawn fawn and that little holly leaf is from the Sue Wilson Christmas shadow box collection - there are so many lovely dinky dies in it like this one that I can see being so useful.

Off to the snippets playground to show everyone.

Shades of Autumn at Ooh la la Creations challenge blog

Good morning everyone.
It's my turn to choose our theme this fortnight at the Ooh La La Creations challenge blog,  and as I love Autumn it was an easy one for me. I've chosen Shades of Autumn and for my DT card I used this beautifully atmospheric scene from the Paula Oakley Collection cdrom.

I can't wait to see how everyone interprets the theme.

LIM #297 - Dreams

This card was inspired by one of my new gelli plates which I just had to give a go. I'v got a large gelli plate which I love but I can see a lot of uses for these petite ones.
I've used a Visible Image stamp and then reversed stamped using the gelli plate. I stamped over using the hexagon gelli with TH distress ink and then sprtized it for the mirror image. Then I used a chicken wire stencil over the top.

This is for the Less is More challenge which this week is a one layer card and Dreams.

LIM #296 Turquoise and lilac

This is my entry for the Less is More challenge of Turquoise and lilac this week. I was a bit stumped over what to do but pleased with this as it also helps towards my Christmas card makes.

I just got this afternoon a MISTI and had to try it, why did I not believe everyone and get one sooner? It is just brilliant, especially with silhouette stamps as you can keep applying the ink to get a lovely deep colour. I then used ink dusters to add the shading.

10 years and still looking good!

This is the card I made for the OH to celebrate 10 years together - as you can see we don't look too bad on it! I can share it now as he has the card.

I used Visible image stamps and die cut the 10 years. I created a background using aquatints and stamped and cut out the figures. The background I created with dylusions acrylic paints and a gelli plate. For the "blood" I used a red spectrum noir sparkle pen.

I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge where it is Anything goes.

Photo inspiration at Penny Black & More

This month at the Penny Black & More challenge we would like you to take the photo and colours below as the inspiration for your card.

October colour inspiration

For my DT card I've combined one of my favourite PB stamps 1652J Cheesecake Wish with a newer set 40-358 Filigree Foliage and finally 3942F Live Life.

I created my background using Spectrum Noir aquatints and then stamped and embossed the leaves with CE sparkly embossing powder in two shades. I mounted it onto a piece of TH card stock and a Hunkydory card background. I coloured the image using TH distress crayons.

Thanks for looking and I hope to see you at the blog for this great challenge along with all the fantastic prizes you can win.
