LIM week 17 - pick a square

Oh dear - I feel a bit of a Violet Elizabeth moment coming on (foot stomp). I knew it didn't bode well that I hadn't done my Less Is More challenge card for this week yet. I feel a bit off colour - hopefully not coming down with what the OH has and thought some crafting would help. It didn't. I don't have the right size card to do this challenge, I don't have the right stamps etc etc !!! My first attempts were on bigger card and the image looked lost so I had to embellish around it and therefore discount it from this challenge.
This is my second attempt - and last. I give in!
Edited to add the same card with a paper pieced dress. Mandi suggested colouring it, which I had thought of but wasn't sure it would look too good-decided to go for paper piecing and I think it is improved - what do you think?

Gems and pearls

After making the last fashion card I sort of had a hankering after playing with some more dresses! I've used my MCS Fab Glam fifties cd rom to make the mannnequin and then printed the dress on some spotty PTI paper. I added some pearls at the waist and neckline. The backing paper is also from the cdrom and I wanted to be able to still see the images so I have tucked the sentiment behind the dress form. The home baking image is one I found on the internet. I've added a couple of gems to the bows on the shoes.
I'd like to enter this into Crafts and me challenge- gems and pearls and the Stamp Something challenge -use a sentiment.
Well a wet and windy day here. The OH is coughing for England or sleeping - so crafting for me.

Passion for Fashion

I've made this card from a Kanban set of fashion items. This is the first time I have used it-too nice to use! I've added a flower held with a shoe brad and some bling.
I'd like to enter this into the Daring Cardmakers challenge-A passion for fashion, this week they are sponsored by Imagine that.
I'd also like to enter it into Creative Card Crew - anything goes.
I've been really busy at work this week - we ran a workshop yesterday and I was just too tired to think when I got home. So sorry for the lack of posting this week and visiting.

With wings

Yes, I am afraid it is another butterfly from me! All those butterfly cards I made at the weekend were butterflies punched from scraps, this is a butterfly I had left over, combined with another scrap. When I made this card a few weeks ago
I had previously stamped the image in another colour which I didn't use but saved. I stamped a sentiment over it and cut it and the card out with my largest nesties labels eight. I'd like to enter it into the challenge over on A spoon full of sugar which is "things with wings".
The result of my allergy test (now called sensitivity test due to the new laws) is that I am sensitive to wheat, yeast, sugar. I'm going to try to follow an anti-candida diet as my level was 38% compared to a normal reading of between 0-5%. If anyone has got any tips on this I would welcome them.

Butterflies - again!

I'm sorry that after the overload of butterflies yesterday I am here with them again! Just had an idea I wanted to execute and this is it. I've used Kraft card and added some bakers twin, a small heart button and some bling. Used a PTI sentiment and flower for the background. I've also put a small strip of the patterned paper insdie the card to show through the punched edge.
I'd like to enter this card into:-
A Spoon full of sugar-anything goes
Crafts and me -anything goes (opt Kraft)
CES-use three embellies

LIM week 16 Butterfly/butterflies and butterflies and butterflies

This week the challenge on Less is More is butterfly or butterflies, you will see why I extended the title in my header in just a moment! For this card I used some acetate and adhered gilding flakes to it, then used the SU punch to cut out the butterflies. However, because I wanted them to have a straighter edge I then cut the top wing with scissors. I stamped a flourish in gold ink behind and added a PTI sentiment also in gold ink.
That was a few hours ago now! I am home alone and so I made the most of crafting on a Saturday night....
Take 2 - this time on a smaller card.

Take 3-On pink pearlescent cardstock. A doily stamped with a PTI image and the edges of the doily inked.
Take 4 -PTI frame and sentiment

Take 5-Continuing the earlier idea, but this time the circle is cut out with a nestie and acetate placed behind, the sentiment and flower are inside the card.

Take 6 -Probably should have stopped here but decided to use this embossing folder. Looked good till I added too dark a colour I think?

OK-crafted out LOL!

Down on the allotment

Well this is my second garden inspired card. Someone asked me to make a card for a lady who has an allotment. I knew I wanted to use those seed packets again (this time I have shrunk them down to minis) then remembered this fab freebie digi image from Paulette at create with TLC. It went just perfectly with my theme! I also let go a whole Websters petite page. The lady it is for likes yellow and browns, so this paper just cried out to be used. I added a free frame and another freebie sentiment mounted inside it.
I'd like to enter it into Stamps r Us - use a digi or dig paper and Crafty Catz Weekly Challenge - anything goes.
I'm going for an allergy test tomorrow. I've thought about this for a long time and price was reasonable and I can claim half of it back on my insurance, so hopefully may reveal something!

Teddy bear picnic

There are a couple of challenges who want to see Teddy Bear picnics this week. So I got out a stamp that I bought last year but has never been used (!). It is a flowersoft stamp, but I haven't added any flowersoft to the image. I cut a frame to mount over the image - I just saw this idea on Brenda's blog and so "monkey see monkey do" LOL!
I'd like to enter it into these challenges and then get to bed!

Look what the stork brought!

I've made this card for the Simon Says Stamp challenge which is "Look what the stork brought!". I've used the latest freebie from Bugaboo digi stamps and mounted it on some blue mirri card. I then used two corners of a baby scrapbook sheet - leaving a gap to stamp a PTI sentiment into. It hasn't picked it up, but the sentiment is partly stamped on the other side of the image too.
Thanks for looking.

Inspired by......

The challenge over on Delicious Doodles the theme is "inspired by" - What is it that inspires you to create?
I downloaded some vegetable seed packets a while ago and knew that I wanted to put them on a card for a keen allotment holder and vegetable grower. I used SU kraft card and a piece of brown card already with punched birds that came in a craft order as a freebie. I found a Mary Engelbreight sentiment that fitted perfectly and added that too. Then I finished it off with a cuddly buddly freebie sentiment mounted on a SU label stamp. I wanted the bird to look like a robin as I felt that fitted with the theme, however I don't know if I have made him look a bit Christmassy!
I'd also like to enter the card into
By the Cute and Girly - anything goes
Crafty Creations-anything goes
Cupcake Craft Challenges - in the garden
Can you believe that the card I showed yesterday for the football fan - he didn't think I had made it. It was only because my name was on the back of the card he believed me!

The blues

This is a card I have made for an ardent Chelsea fan. The new kit only came out this week so I whipped over to website to make sure the latest kit was used on the card. I used the background and insert from My Craft studio collections edition for men and recoloured them to blue. I arranged all the elements in MCS and then printed out the emblem and kit separately and mounted them onto foam pads.
I'd like to enter this card into Cards for men - for someone special and One Stitch At a time which is anything goes this week.

LIM week 15-embossing

First of all I am sorry I didn't get round to many Limettes last week. I have been away on a training course, and was hoping to catch up last night, but with the Blogger problems, it never happened.
This week the challenge on Less is More is embossing but a one layer card. I have used another one of the lovely embossing folders my friend has kindly lent to me and an SU stamp using an Anna Griffin gold ink pad. then I chalked very lightly with a coppery/gold colour over the embossed area.
The good news for me is that I passed my first LEAN exam and am now accredited as a LEAN practitioner to level 1a. Only 1b and 1c to go!

Unlucky for some?

Friday the 13th and today is my first LEAN exam - let's hope today is not unlucky for me!
I've used the SU set "In bloom" for this card and a little scrap of that paper that I used on the last card. Finished with a PTI downloaded sentiment. I chalked over the image to give a more muted effect to the flowers.

That hydrangea stamp again!

I had another idea of using the hydrangea stamp I have with this paper I bought ages and ages ago. As usual I have been saving it LOL! It is my first LEAN exam tomorrow - wish me luck!

One good turn deserves another

Isn't this just the sweetest pin cushion. A colleague at work gave it to me in exchange for some things that I had given her for her allotment. I just love little fimo roses and the two fancy pearl headed pins.

I have some shaped cards I got free with a magazine ages ago so I thought I would try and use one with a stampin up set and a sentiment from the butterfly print set.

I made another one.......

I enjoyed making my box frame so much last week at Victoria's class that I decided to make another one. In fact I got two additional frames so at some point another will follow probably with a kitchen theme.
I made this one to go in my living room and you can see from the chair it is on and the cushion behind it, it is based on the colour scheme I have in there.
I've used lots of different things, some wooden buttons I have, some crafty individuals stamps, punches, and all mounted onto SU papers. There is even an old earring, I lost the other one and in vain hope kept this one in case it ever turned up - that was about 3 years ago, so now it is enshrined in here - bottom left next to the eiffel tower.

Hydrangea paper pieced

I had another go with the Hydrangea stamp I used last week to paper piece. When I saw Brenda demo at Sir Stampalot she mounted her paper piecing which I had never done before, so I thought I would try it out with the flower head. the leaves are stuck straight onto the card. I then added a couple of SU stamps.
I am really pleased with how this card turned out, I just love the natural shading on the leaves which was entirely down to the paper I chose.
I'm entering this as my second card into the Simon Says challenge for this week - paper piecing.

LIM week 14 - white on white

Well inspiration came easier than I thought for this challenge on Less is More for white on white. I have embossed the whole card with an embossing folder a friend has lent me. Then I used my MS butterfly punch and added the butterflies cut from a piece of white card embossed with daisies.

Chocolate

I thought this sentiment was perfect for the challenge over on Cute Card Thursday which is "I like chocolate a lot".
It also fits the challenge on Crafty Catz challenge which is to use a quote or sentiment.
The image and sentiment are from Bugaboo, I used a Kanban background and chocolates toppers finished off with some seam binding. By the way Bugaboo have 50% off at the moment to celebrate the launch of their new store.
Well I have to admit that the Less is More challenge has me a bit stumped this week, it is white on white. Hopefully back later with an entry.

A milestone

Every week I think I will enter the Penny Black Saturday challenge and it just never happens - until now! Although I have only just made it under the wire. The theme this week is "milestones". I thought this cute image would be nice for the milestone for the 30th Wedding anniversary of a friend (if you are reading this look away now!!!). Unusually for me I have actually put a ribbon on the card - I find it hard to know where and how to use ribbon to best effect, but quite pleased with this effort.
I'm also entering it into Crafty Creations Challenge which is anniversary.
A few posts back I made a wedding card with a purple spotted ribbon. Apparently the couple aren't getting married until June next year! I thought my friend was being very calm about getting the wedding invitations made LOL! Oh well, at least I have it ready - unless between now and then she changes her colour scheme.

Apron strings

It's digi day for May over on the Stamp Something Challenge. This apron, rolling pin and oven mitt are all from the "help for Katie digi set" that Jak Heath put together. The papers are from Mary Engelbreit. The sentiment and the tiny teatime stamp on the apron are from PTI.
I'm also entering it into Ladybug Crafts Ink TLT challenge - going dotty
Quick post from me tonight as I have got some crafty ideas going round in my head!

Tres chic and not so chic!

I finally got my gilding flakes out and used them onto acetate for the window panel on this card. These are some stamps I have wanted for ages, but I didn't really need another fashion stamp! But when I was off last week I succumbed and I am so glad I did because they stamp beautifully. I used a sentiment from a C Ds set but realised after I actually have in the same set the sentiment "tres chic" which is the challenge on Ooh La La  at the moment. I'm also entering the card into Sweet Stampin Challenge as they are asking you to do something new - which was the gilding flakes.
I paper pieced the dress using a combo of spotty and striped lemon papers. I enjoyed paper piecing her so much I did her again in the more traditional My Fair Lady colours. She is going in the fashion scrapbook I am putting together at the moment. I'm also entering her into the Simon Says Stamp challenge which is for paper piecing this week.
Now for the not so tres chic!

How stupid am I? I inked up the window stamp and thought the ink felt weird on the stamp, luckily stamped it onto some scrap and thought OMG - there is something wrong with the stamp. No - something wrong with me. I had the stamp upside down on the acrylic block LOL!

Something beginning with C

The challenge over at Cupcake Crafts is "something beginning with C"- so I dug out my Mo Manning little girl who is "Cooking". I've used a sentiment from TLC and some free papers that Sypder found in a back issue online of Papercraft inspirations. I've added a doily which I lightly inked with a blue stamp pad.
I'd also like to enter her into the challenge on Fab n Funky for "red white and blue".

Laundry blues

This is a card I have made for someone who very kindly lent me their steam press to try out. I've been seeing them demo'd on the TV but wondered if it was simply a case of plug and go or would you need to "learn" how to use it. Well the one I was lent came with no instructions and I got on fine with it. Luckily they had a press on offer at the weekend, so I now have my very own coming!
I've used a TGF stamp and coloured her with copics. I got to use a peg, which I have had for ages (still loads more). Then I used sketch 30 from sketch and stash
who this week want you to use any past sketch. I am also entering the card into Cute card Thursday who would like to see any sketch from any other challenge or one of their past ones. The little sentiment is a new stamp I bought just for this card-luckily it was on sale. It really is designed I suppose to go on the back of the card but it just fitted the whole theme of this card so well that I put it on the front.
Right off to do gardening whilst the sun is out and the last day of my hols.

Stamp and show some buttons

I found a new challenge to me "Simon says stamp and show" the theme there is more vintage and  T Holtz inspired. This week the theme is "stamp and show some buttons". I've used my new vintage sewing set from Sam Poole and a first for me - black card as the base. I embossed the vintage SU wheel and punched the edge, stamped on some mulberry paper and stamped the dummy onto a scrap of printed press flower paper. Added some seam binding and bakers twin to the buttons.
I'm also entering it into One stitch at a time challenge who want to see embossing this week.

Box frame class

I went to Victoria's box frame class yesterday morning. I was going to take a photo to post but I've just taken these from Victoria's site as she has done such a good job! You can see I opted for my fav colours.

Here I am with Shaza "creating" you could have heard a pin drop with all that concentration. I was initially daunted by filling 16 squares with mini art works, but soon the ideas began to flow especially with all the lovely SU goodies Victoria had for us to play with.
