Tag, you're it

The challenge on 365 cards today is to use a journalling tag on your card, mine is from a K&Co tag book, the words are also K&Co. The spotty background paper is Anna Griffin., with the patterned paper from DCWV and a couple of sparkle brads from papermania. The fabric flowers are from my stash and were in a box I bought from ebay - just found them inside!
I would never have used such bright papers together before or the flowers ( I mean green flowers!!!!), but seeing everyone else doing this -and liking it - I thought I would give it a go.

Peek-a- boo

I have made this card for the challenge on 365 cards day 152 - which must have a flap to reveal something. I have had this a while now and wanted to get it made so today seemed like the perfect opportunity. Not sure whether this is accepted as it is a decoupage kit, but in my defence it took some cutting and I did put some mirra board on the mirror!

You can do it!

The challenge on 365 cards today is to use the sentiment "you can do it" on a card. I am always going into doubting mode over my MBA despite making it through all the assigments and exams so far - now I am worrying about the dissertation! So, I am going to keep this card by the PC to remind myself LOL;)
The papers and image are from Mary Engelbreit - I love her designs. Then I added some button and teddy stickers from my stash.

Day 150 on 365 cards

It has taken me all day to think of this! The 365 card challenge was to use a "homophone" which is the same words pronounced the same but spelt differently. Soooo, this is Bee for the beginning of "because" bit lame I know.
I think my "mojo" left me because I had a back massage this afternoon and I was left feeling a bit spaced out for a while (in a nice way) It was a "hydrotherapy" massage which I had not had before. You lie on a warm water filled cushion and they massage you by placing their hands between you and the cushion - dreamy!

sponge it!

I am posting two versions of this card - I at first did a very subtle sponge effect, so subtle I thought you can't see it! So, I went over it again today and now I am not sure if I have spoilt it?

Anyway, it was for day 149 on 365 cards challenge where the challenge was to use sponging.

Blue and white

Here is my card for the colour create challenge. There is actually a teacup on the stamp I used but I decided to cut one from some paper and raise it on foam pads.

Pink and Green

I had been using a sheet of Papermania paper for another project and was looking at the images I had left over - seemed to be crying out to go on a card, so, this is what I came up with. I then found it fits the challenge this week on C.R.A.F.T Challenge for a pink and green card.

New challenge blog

There is going to be a new Challenge blog 'Bizzy Becs Creatalicious Challenges'. The Challenges will start on 15th August 2009 and a new Challenge put up once a month thereafter. They have a Celebration Blog Candy on offer to celebrate this new challenge. Click on the picture above and find out what you need to do to be able to enter.

Super sketchy Sunday

This is the sketch for today from 365 Cards and my take on it. I don't think I have ever made a card quite like this before. I used DCWV papers and for the background daises I used a stamp pad to colour tint and watercolour it from black and white to a blue hue. I used some blue peel off flowers and cut one in half for the edge. The sticker is from my stash and I think it makes it a belated birthday card?

Symmetrical card

Playing catch up with some of the 365 challenges - this was to make your card symmetrical (apart from the sentiment). This is very quick and simple but I do want to use up these victorian borders and corners - I got them in a sale and they are really a bit too fussy for a lot of what I do.

On 365 cards today the challenge is to "Scraplift" one of the DT cards. I chose the one above by Gloria and did my scraplift on it. The papers are free ones from an issue of Crafts Beautiful and the ribbon was tied around some teatowels I bought ;).

"X" on a sketch

"X" on a sketch is the challenge over at ABC challenge and this is my interpretation. I have used background willow paper with some DCWV "Friends" paper then added a Joanna Sheen "Willow plate" stamp for the image. Couple of embelishments from my stash and the flowers are punched from DCWV papers whilst a couple are cut outs.

My letter about my "Create" on my wall made it to the letters page of Cards and Papercraft. I have a subscription to this magazine at the moment, the papers they giveaway are really good quality and no printing on the reverse with templates like some of the other mags do.

Boys, boys, boys

The challenge on PaperPlay challenges is to make a card for a male - this is a card for my partner's son - not very inspired but the best I could come up with. Need to get more inspiration for male cards - but if they only like footy it is difficult! I used some Dovecraft paper and cut the various elements out, the footballer is mounted on 3d foam pads. Used a couple of footy boot peeloffs and coloured parts of them in.

Keep it to yourself - sympathy

Keep it to yourself - sympathy is the challenge on 365 cards today. You can't put a message on the front of the card, the image has to portray the sentiment - in this case sympathy.

I have used a tulip stamp that I got as part of a set from QVC and have not used so far. Kept it very simple and stamped with heritage lavender ink on a lavender card, then just added some black ribbon. The colours don't look too good as I have had to take it in artificial light and it looks like there is glitter - but there is NOT! it is the pearlesence of the card reflecting.

Update - here is the card taken in a better light and with a message added (couldn't resist!)

Black and White

This is my card for the challenge on Die Cut Dreams . Really wanted to add some colour but managed to resist and keep to the challenge.

age specific

C.R.A.F.T challenge 8 is for an age specific card. I have made this for my partner's Grandson who is about to be 4.

I found this challenge blog a few weeks ago and really like the principle "Use it". This is the current challenge:-

1 Dive into your old papers box and search forsome "scrap" papers in MONOCHROMATIC colors.
2 Add a TAG or a LABEL to your card.
3 Use at least one of your favorite STAMPS.
4 Add a LAYERED FLOWER,you can use any material you want.

I have really enjoyed making this card - the luggage label is about 10 years old, I bought a pack and they were so expensive that I have been "saving" them and using sparingly - so I just "used it"! The stamp is Hero Arts, the other papers are from my stash and I have used them before so these were offcuts that needed "using". Flower is built up from Heidi Grace flowers and some flowers I didn't even know I had and finally the little gold spiral is something that I have been hoarding.

Paint It

On 365 cards today the challenge is to use paint on your card. I have used a forever friends stamp and watercoloured the teddy then cut around him and used foam pads to mount him, then mat and layered him onto a Docrafts preprinted pink flowered card and added a do crafts sentiment.

That completes a whole week of 365 challenges for me for the first time!

Paper piercing

The challenge on 365 cards today is to use paper piercing. Now, I had to read this a few times as some weeks ago I was looking at cards which I thought had used piercing but it was piecing! Spent ages trying to see where they had used piercing - really, at a quick glance these two techniques are easy to get mixed up.

So - this is piercing which I have put around the heart stamp and then on the K&CO remake lilac paper. The background paper is probably classed as vintage -I think I bought it in about 1995 - of course I have been saving it............ great things about these challenges for me is that I am using stuff LOL.
I have also tried a new thing for me with the oversized ribbon - never done it before but it was sitting in my box (must have come wrapped around something) and the colour was so perfect. The ribbon through the plastic sentiment is cut off from some clothing I bought, (most tops you buy now have this sewn in them to stop them falling off the hanger) in fact most of my small ribbon comes to me this way now.

It's got to have a quotation

Challenge on 365 cards today is to use a quotation and acknowledge it. So the piece of vellum with the quote came ready made with the background and everything on it. I got it from QVC and also the little holographic butterfly. Then I have added a peel off and coloured it with my sakura pens. It actually says "Just a note" but I don't think it is that easy to make out!

Bind it

The challenge on 365 cards yesterday (yes, well it has taken me this long to think of something!) was to bind two pieces of card together to make a card. I have photographed this with my mug as it was what I got my inspiration from:)

The cupcake swings back to reveal the greeting inside. I got to play with glitter, which I love and don't do often enough.
The cupcake case is made from DCWV paper, red brad from my stash for a cherry. Used a glue pen to trace across the cake and sprinkled with holographic glitter then with lilac for sprinkles effect.

I am aiming to do all the challenges on 365 this week - so far so good..............

What is black, white and red all over?

Day 136 on 365 cards and the challenge is "what is black, white and red all over"? - they are the only colours you can use on your card.

Didn't have much time today so I used a stamp that I had on my desk and the squares are the pop outs from the die cut on the card I did yesterday, with a couple coloured red with my markers - waste not want not!

I would normally have coloured the leaves green - but that is the great thing about these challenges pushed me to make them black and I think it looks ok.

Through a window

The challenge on 365 cards today is to have a card with a window on it. I have taken this literally as I have been dying to work with the diecuts I got from Die cut dreams. I haven't got a die cutting machine (freak I hear you all cry!) so I bought some from Susie and this is my first go at playing with them. I am disappointed the picture doesn't show some lovely silver and black gingham paper I used to replicate a blind at the window of the door.
I also put some "dovecraft" paper inside the door to make it look like it is the inside of the shop - see right.
I am also entering this over on the Paperplay challenge - which someone kindly suggested this card fits, as the theme is fashion.

Sunday, 12 July 2009

the challenge over on High Hopes Blogspot is to use a card featuring Daisies. My sugar nellie stamp "Daisy" immediately came to mind. She is my favourite stamp at the moment.

day 134 on 365 cards

Here is my card for the sketch over on 365 cards for day 134. I have trouble with male cards and I have had the sentiment for awhile not knowing what to do with it. I am pleased with the result, nice simple clean card!

Update - thanks for all the lovely comments on this card. I didn't make it clear that the sentiment is not a stamp but is an applique - if you enlarge the picture this is easier to see.

Been studying!

Here is the beautiful setting of Henley Business School.

I haven't posted for a week because I have been away at Henley on my last residential course. I will be starting my dissertation shortly so we had hours and hours on stats! Luckily the tutor was very good and made what could have been a very dry subject enjoyable. It is a long drive for me about 140 miles so too tired to craft for now.

Charmed crafts blog candy

They are giving away a fantastic 72 set of copic markers on the Charmed Crafts blog - all you have to do is enter a card where you have coloured the image yourself and link their candy to your blog (see in my side bar). If you use one of their images you can enter twice!
I don't have any of their images but here is a card with an image coloured in from Sugar Nellie.

U is for United States

This is a card for the ABC challenge as usual I left it too late to post to my friend in the States in time for 4 July - so ML here it is virtually!
The picture is cut from a sheet of images that had victorian christmas, easter etc. and the rub down the site and the sticker at the top and the sentiment sticker are from my stash.
