Bloomin gorgeous

I've been dying to use my cuttlebug embossing folder for edges - so I put "with love" down the side of this bloomin gorgeous card for Cute Card Thursday. The stamps are from SU and the ribbon is SU certain celery. I highlighted parts of the flower with a sakura gel pen.
I'm also entering this for the Pink, white and green challenge on Paperplay challenges.
I made the card for a friend who just got a well deserved promotion. I thought blossom went well with the sentiment of the card for her and the stamp if you look close enough gives a definition of "development". Inside I put the "bloom" stamp but I had written in it before I thought to photo it!

Digi image

I am short on time for challenges at the moment. So this one from Fab 'n' Funky was ideal as the only criteria is to use a digi stamp. Mine is one I won from Nikki at Elusions Grapix Design she has so many fab cupcake designs. I coloured it with promarkers and added a little glitter line for frosting with a Sakura pen. The sentiments are SU from their Crazy for cupcakes (of course!).

Found the time to post my desk as I wanted to share all the lovely goodies we made at Victoria's SU class last Saturday. The little box is supposed to have maltesers in it, now I haven't eaten them (yet) just not found their way into the box.

There are also my ebay goodies from Steph - two punches and two CC design stamps, you can see where I have stamped and coloured them in ready to go in another life! Oh dear if you look closely you will see the "saying" I cribed off a PTI set I didn't win on ebay!! There are some swiss dots I put through the cuttlebug late last night and rubbed over with ink - just to see if I could and I will definetely be using this technique again.

I want to stay connected to blogland, eventhough I have my head down working hard on the dissertation so I am timing this post and will link to Julia when I get home.

Sunflowers and Dragonflies challenge blog are giving a set of cupcake stamps as a prize. Well at the mention of cupcakes I was there - the challenge is inchies and twinchies. Twinchies are a new one on me I assume they are 2x2 pieces. I went for the inchies and soon found that I have very few stamps that would look right - until I found this set which I am ashamed to say have never seen ink, and I have had them about 3+ years!

This is the first time I have made a card base from SU - I used certain celery and then a piece of almost amethyst punching it with the eyelet punch along the bottom and down the side of the card to reveal some gingham ribbon. Used my new boho blossoms punch for the flowers at the bottom of the card and to layer some up in the centre of the card. SU bloomin beauty set used for the sentiment and the little bee.

As for cupcakes - well look at this little lovely I have treated myself to. The photos are so gorgeous. There is even a green tea cupcake.

Pretty pink

This card is for the challenge on Papertake weekly for "pretty pink". The image is a stamp I got from someone on ebay ages ago - got a few Betty images and when they came I think they have been made by them -but they stamp ok so that is the main thing. The grided paper is PTI and the spotty paper is it says on the packaging - recycled (!) and the spots on it are flocked. Bit of ribbon (cut from inside a top when I bought it), and Betty is mounted on a nestie circle.

Here is my desk for this Wednesday. I'm doing it early because tomorrow I am going to be driven - get my head down and do MBA work. Instead of sitting here not getting anywhere.
Everything that was on it last week is still there under the new things! The new things are the items we got to do as make and takes at Monica's SU training day in Peterborough last Saturday. I was not fast enough to get everything done on the day so I brought them home and finished them and now they are sitting there for me to admire. I just went along as a guest and made swaps that were not entirely SU products and feared I may get disallowed from swapping! However, everyone was really lovely and welcoming and I had a great day. I also won a set of stamps from the sale-a-bration set - good neighbours - thanks very much- which is on the left on my desk.

Got a couple of acrylic stamps I just bought from ebay - wasn't really paying much attention and thought they were wooden backed! Tried them out and they make great impressions so that is okay. Lastly a pack of stamps from a mag I couldn't resist buying just to get the cute stamps.

Afternoon Tea

The challenge on day 320 at 365 card challenge is "A tea party theme". I have so many cake stamps now, but I had already begun colouring in this Joanna Sheen cake stand. So I thought I would put it together with the pre coloured Belinda with her cake, and another tea stamp image I had coloured for something else and not used in the background. Set on top of some paper I have with a "cake image". I coloured the cake stand and then put little white dots with a white gel pen to look like a pattern.

Can you see the little cupcake ornament. I bought it yesterday when I was in London. I finished early and had some time to do a little shopping!

It's new...

First of all thanks for all the good wishes for my health from everyone yesterday. I never meant to alarm any of you - luckily it seems that it is something benign, but the tests are just to make sure.

On a couple of challenges this week they want anything "new" on your card. I have some new papers and a new technique. I decided to have a play with acetate and my cuttlebug and am pleased with the result. The picture doesn't really do it justice. First layer is some bright pink paper, then some flocked dots paper followed by the acetate. A piece of confetti paper stamped with a sale-a-bration SU stamp, a vellum Happy Birthday and some gems on the corners of the acetate.
I'm entering it into:-

Wednesday - desk -what's on it?(WOYWW)

Had to leave work early today and then go and have some cells taken from a gland in my neck at the hospital - so what did I think about to get me through it......... WOYWW - honestly, it was so comforting. The Registrar asked if I would pass out or anything (?) he looked really worried that I might which made me think I might - anyways here I am all ok.

Here's my desk. Bit of a dumping ground because I have just received my lovely candy over on the right side from Vee as part of the ABC Christmas Challenge blog hop. Also, I have some PTI goodies on the way as I won their card challenge this week.

My Craftwork card order came too - I have embossed kraft paper -ooh it is lovely. The wooden stamps and the aclyric ones next to them are from 123 stitch in the USA with whom I just happened to put in a small order. I've got my Me time anya set with 20% off from Nutcrafters.
Started to colour in the Joanna Sheen cake stand - can't decide now what colours to do the other cakes. I've done the obvious strawberries, cherries and jam in the rolls - suggestions welcomed.
I needed to find a purpose for the lid of the ferroro rocher box so I made it a "to do/in progress tray" not sure how long that will last though!
Had time to contemplate waiting at the hospital this afternoon about the WOYWW and "what the point of it is" I think it's about being a part of something and a bit of being nosey! So anyone who hasn't yet shared their desk please join in - would love to see your creative space as well as your creations. Just click on the WOYWW link and post a link to a photo.

Sale-a-bration stamp

This is a card that I have made for one of my SU swaps using one of their sale-a-bration stamps again - with the bad weather I was getting worried I had made cards and would have no one to swap with - but it is thawing here and so hopefully we will be able to go at the weekend. It is similar to one I posted the other day. I decided with a few to make I had to have a bit of continuity (most unlike me) to get to some sort of production line!

The Pink Elephant is looking for Birthday cards this week so this fits perfectly! If anyone from that challenge visits - "I can't find any recent winners of challenges on the blog?" Can you point me in the right direction please.

Birthday card and a new challenge blog

I've taken a break from my dissertation to bring you this card. I'm entering into a new challenge at Stampin royalty where there is a birthday theme challenge. The card also fits Crazy 4 Challenges as their theme is birthday too. Finally it fits Polka Doodles song title theme - for which I have chosen the song "Happy Days" - remember with the Fonz -aaayh!

The border punch, stamp and sentiment are from SU - large flower from my stash with a die cut flower and brad over the top. Other flowers punched from the co-ordinating papers. Small flourish at the bottom is a rub-on from K&Co.
Only 13,000 words to go on the dissertation! But at least I have started it. It seemed so daunting but now I have put together the outline and started to work out what goes where I feel a tiny bit better. I need to get the draft of 15,000 words to my tutor by mid-Feb otherwise I will miss the deadline for graduating this October and have to wait til 2011!!! Glad to have blogs to visit to give me a bit of a break inbetween - trouble is 5 mins leads to................!

Something new

The challenge on Cute Card Thursday is something new. The stamps I have used on this card are from the new Sale-a-bration range from Stampin up. The colour combo fits the challenge on Stamp with Us. The papers are PTI.

New or old (plus a sketch)

It is sooo cold here I have been sat in my slanket! modelled here in a lovely grey colour. Mine is brown and I look like a monk in it - it trails three feet behind me as I am so short but, it is WARM. So warm that the other week I nodded off at the PC wearing it!

Well, onto my latest challenge card. Allsorts want you to use old or new stash - nice and accommodating that, together with this sketch:-

I used old paper from my DCWV stash and my old dog punch again. I think I stopped using this when I lost my dog in deference to him - bit silly really because it is so cute. Added some punched flowers from the same papers and a sentiment.

I flipped the sketch just because one of the offcuts had a cut in it and I could hide that way!

Turn if off candy and A is for Angel

On the ABC Christmas challenge blog they are asking that word verification is turned off and they have the chance to win some candy if you do it. Mine is turned off and I sometimes leave comments too quickly and realise I didn't do the verification -so no comment!

The first challenge on the blog is A for Angel and here is my card. I am going to try and enter all the challenges (famous last words) but it did mean reorganising my stash as usually the crimbo stuff goes away into deep storage til around September. Now if I am going to be entering this challenge and the Suzi and Vicky one starts soon, then I needed easier access!
The ribbon is from a cake I bought as it was reduced to £4 and apart from one piece I shamelessly ate the whole thing over the last few days! But hey-I got free ribbon!!! and this is only a tiny bit of it -oops now you know it was a BIG cake. I CASED the flower idea from Sarita very losely as her work is stunning and mine is imitation on a lower scale! I cut some different sized scalopped nesties and then cut to the centre, used some scissors to make them curl up a little and pinned a brad through the centre. The Angel I have had for a few years and it is the first time she has seen ink -yeh.

I am also entering into Crafty creations as they want black and white with a splash of colour.

WOYWW New Year 2010

I should be on a train to London when you read this - it is snowing heavily here but I should be able to make it to the station on the Tram if not by car. Daren't leave my car at the station in this weather in case I can't get it out of the carpark when I get back in the evening! EDITED 5.40PM-Home now with a cup of tea - think some Londoners were surprised to see my wellies as there was no snow when I got to London!

So to my desk. Well I just today got a new delivery from Joanna Sheen. Those tea time stamps are hers complete with little butterfly cakes and everything, and were reduced from £14.99 to £4.99 - amazing and sold out now before you hop over there;) She does free p&p but minimum order is £5 so had to add a new set of promarkers to the order as well. Rest of my desk has the digis I have been printing off, (because otherwise I will forget I have them) to colour in and will no doubt be featuring on a card soon. Looking at it now seems I have a CAKE theme going on, if only I could not eat them and just look at them instead.

Eagle eyes will spot some iron on Betty Boops - got them from Etsy ages ago and in my semi-sort out thought I should be reminded of them so along with some card I have had for years and can't find a use for they will be propped up there for awhile. Also have some darling little stickers that came with my Marc Jacobs Spring Daisy perfume, you are meant to decorate the bottle with them. I stuck a few on but then thought they would be better served on cards.

A first - Mojo Monday

I was thinking I would like to make a card with lots of different layers-it's not my natural style and so when I found the sketch on Mojo Monday I decided to give it a go - my first time entering this challenge.

The papers are from Papermania and the ribbon from my stash. The HB is from SU cupcakes set - finding this stamp really useful at the moment and the other is from a bargain bin set I picked up in Hobbycraft and the first time it has seen the ink! The eyelet punch is SU.

I've a day off today but only because I have two hospital appointments. I was going to go into town first but with the snow on and off have decided to stay indoors for as long as possible. I got back to my MBA work last night-then made this card as a treat for being so good. I made a few cards at the weekend and will be posting them soon. I decided this was the less distracting option from my study work!

Thanks again

Here is another Thank you card I have made but this time it is for a swap I'm going to be doing. I've used another one of the SU Sale-a-bration stamps. I put SU almost amethyst card through an embossing folder for the background onto a green pearlescent card, and used some Anna Griffin ribbon.I'm entering this into the C.R.A.F.T. challenge for thank you cards.

Happy Birthday and a blog hop

Over at Charisma Cards Challenges they are celebrating their 1st birthday. The challenge is for a birthday card - so this is my entry and they also have a blog hop - just click the link above to go to the start. There are some great prizes and each DT has a prize to be won on their blog with some lovely creations to look at too.
I'm also entering this card into Crazy 4 challenges as it fits their polka dot theme. The two stamped images are from the new SU Sale-a-bration range. The polka dot paper is from Craftwork cards and the two sentiments are rub ons from my stash. The white flowers are actually negatives in the poka dot paper -waste not etc.............! The other flowers were a gift.

Over on A Passion for Papertrey they are looking for stars on your project. I've done a really simple card with yet again the Raspberry fizz collection - punched out some stars and popped them on pads. Liked the negative so much decided to mount that on some plain raspberry paper and use it too! The "friend" is from the PTI set On your couch.
