Westie and black cat - cross stitching

Here it is finished and framed - I am so pleased with the way it turned out. This is going in the room I craft in which has a yellow and blue theme (uhm maybe prompted by working on this for three years!). This piece had to take a back seat whilst I was studying for my MBA but is now a little reminder of Angus the Westie, here he is below. He passed away in 2007 but had lived to be nearly 16 years old.
I had this picture painted  in 2004 by the lady who also does my framing-not a portrait as such! but is a representation of me and Angus - it is called "Dreaming with Angus".

Embossed mirri card

I have a stack of coloured mirri card but never really used it. I saw the idea to put it through an embossing folder and I love the result - I've used a script folder and then punched with SU boho blossoms the two flowers at the bottom. I've also used one of the cuttlebug vintage corners which I can't believe I ever managed without!

Ever since I won a sweet pea stamp a few weeks ago I have been hankering for more - so this is the first of many I have purchased - look out for the others!

I've followed the sketch on Sketch Saturday for the card and it also fits with these challenges
Sweet pea stampers - anything goes as along as it has a sweet pea stamp
Stampin B's design team - birthday card
Paperplay challenges - anything goes
Crafty Sentiments-embossing

Off to pick up my cross stitching from the framers now so back later with that.

Forever Friends notebook

I've been playing with my Forever Friends cdrom again. When I saw the challenge on the Forever Friends challenge blog this week, I knew I wanted to cover this little Tesco notepad I bought ages ago. I first chose the background then imported all the elements you see and wrote "notes" on the little banner. I also added the daisies, one on the ribbon, one on the top bear above his ear and one on the bottom image. This sums up all my fav things really! Would love to be that bear at the bottom having a lovely tuck into that cake LOL!

Nutty Nutshells challenge #21

This is my last GDT item for Nutshells design team. This time the challenge  is "anything but a card". I've used a Harriet Limited edition rubber stamp from Nutcrafters and made a door hanger for when I am in the garden and can't hear the door! Remember you can enter the challenge on Nutshells as long as you use a stamp they sell in their store.
I'm also entering into Corrosive challenge - pink and blue and Creative Inspirations challenge-anything goes.

Afternoon tea

Had such a lovely day on Saturday. Here are a few photos - we were too busy eating to take too many and the lovely waitress took the one of us with our champagne.  the first one shows the "living wall" outside the Athenaeum hotel which is it's feature.
We started with sandwiches and had two servings before moving onto the orange blossom scones with jam, lemon curd cream and clotted cream. Then we had cakes (all those aren't mine only the violet cupcake and the champagne jelly!). then we had toasted crumpets and butter followed by our champagne as we are both too sensible to have it on an empty stomach. We enjoyed it so much we have decided to do it again in December when it is my birthday but choose a different hotel (probably try them all eventually!).

Summer in Venice

I've made this card for a colleague who leaves work next week. It is partly due to restructure and an early retirement, so didn't want it to be a retirement card as such. I've used an image from My Craft Studio cdrom and printed it onto meltdust paper and sprinkled and heated with meltdust, so it really sparkles in real life. Then I printed an insert to go with it and put a little image on the back of the card with my new digital barcode. I also "distressed" the card on the back but wonder if she will think I just stood on it LOL!
I'm entering it into two summertime challenges because with the meltdust I think it looks like Venice in the summer.

Off to bed for me now as I have a big day tomorrow. I'm going to London with a friend who crafts and we are going to the Bladerubber store to a Susie Jefferson promarker class. Then we are having afternoon tea at the Athenaeum hotel. Will try and take pics if I remember!

WOYWW 21.7

Just got home from work and off out soon so may not get to visit many WOYWW this week. I have some new stash. Some Banana Frog stamps I won and a Christmas card I printed out using my new Forever Friends CDrom and now waiting for an envelope. A craftrak card I made and waiting to be sent out. Some decoupage sealant type stuff that I was going to do something with and didn't get around to it! A new home for my dies - can you spot them? They are stuck to the white metal cabinet under the desk on a magnetic sheet Paula very kindly gave me. I don't have a lot of them so that is my sorted and organised with dies.
You will notice I have the keep calm postcard for which Julia has the print - if you want to buy either visit Kirsty Wiseman's shop - just click below.

I made this card for the All that scraps Challenge which is Monochrome using a Wild Rose Studio image. My OH says it looks a bit morbid! Perhaps I've taken the monochrome theme a bit too far?

woo hoo!!! and a Sweet Pea card

The Christmas card I posted earlier today has won the grand prize over at Bugaboo stamps! I am so excited - isn't it lovely to win things. I think that is the fastest win I have ever had LOL!
This is a card I have made using a Sweet Pea stamp I won from Crafts and Me when they sponsored Crafty Catz. I have coloured it using promarkers. The backing paper (which is even more colourful and amazing in real life) is from the Laurence Llewellyn Bowen collection. I cut a corner from some purple mirri card and then decided that the negative it left behind looked rather nice too so that made it on to the card in the other corner.
I am entering it into the following challenges:-
Papertake Weekly - in the garden
Flutterby Wednesday - butterfly, fairy or angel and at least 3 layers
Playdate Cafe - purple, lilac and lime green
Stamp with Fun - fairies
Passion for promarkers - want to see an animal on the card
Totally Gorjuss - Thinking of you

This is a first for me. Printable acetate with an image from My Craft Studio ladies collection, finished with stardust meldust (which is now all over my keyboard!).
I wanted to enter the challenge over at Cupcake Crafts which is to use acetate and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to try my two new products that arrived this week - printable acetate and meltdust. This is my first attempt - hopefully I will improve but at least I put it in the printer the right way around.
I finished my cross stitch picture of a westie and black cat and it went to the framers yesterday. I totally forgot to take a photo first so it will follow when the framer is finished with it.

Christmas in July

Over at Bugaboo stamps the challenge is Jingle Bells - design a Christmas card. I've used one of their images but made it Christmassy! I've printed out a Santa hat from the Forever Friends CD and some mince pies, then used promarkers to give her a Christmassy make over.
I'm also entering the card into:-
Fab n Funky - It's Christmas in July
Cute Card Thursday - get a head start
Today began as a lovely day but it is very overcast now and I fear the rain will return - more crafting then!

Altered bag (but not arty!)

I've just got the Forever Friends Cd rom, I'm such a sucker for those images and there are thousands on it. This is my first play with it and I am pleased with the results. It's my neighbour's birthday tomorrow. She baked a cake at the weekend gave me a piece then when her husband wanted to know where it had all gone said I had eaten it!!! when in fact she had. So I typed this little sentiment myself as a bit of a joke. The Cdrom itself is a bit of a faff because you have to put in a disc to print and save as a pdf but I did one of the images in My craft studio and will maybe use that in future. If you have the cd and have any tips please let me know. the bag is from Liz Earle and is really good quality paper, so I always end up saving them to use as gift bags. I had made the images with something else in mind though, so didn't quiet cover up the logo, bit of paper from my scrap box (knew it would come in handy!) and there we are!

Sewing card

I managed to get this card made this afternoon after a frustrating visit into the city. One of my craftrak cards was bound for Australia so I thought I may as well visit the main post office - big mistake! They have a new system whereby when you enter you get a number and then wait and wait and wait - 30 minutes in fact. The ticket helpfully told me that there were 60 people in front of me! However, looking around there didn't seem that many in the place so I began to wait. It became obvious that a lot had given up and left as numbers were announced and no one appeared. I heard the counter staff trying to sell credit cards and savings accounts, when it was my turn I think the lady saw from the look on my face not to ask if I had time to listen. At one point I thought about giving up myself but after I had invested 15 minutes I thought I might as well stick it out, the only benefit was I did have a seat!
Anyway, this card is another download from Crafts U Print. I have added the embellishment at the bottom from My craft studio Collectors edition and also the buttons were printed from the same CDrom. The dress on the form at the back was from another download of a shop - watch out for that one too! The whole thing is mounted on some striped paper courtesy of Fred She Said (thanks for the link Chrissie).

A holiday and a card

I spent last week in Shropshire on holiday. The weather was probably the best I have ever had on a UK holiday (and I have had a LOT!) - never had my waterproofs on once! The highlight of the week was meeting Wipso and Twiglet and their OHs - they made us feel so at home and welcome. We went for a lovely meal and I totally forgot to take any photos - doh.
Wipso gave me a pointer on where to find a fabric shop in Shrewsbury and I went straight to it. Look out for some small fabric projects coming here soon.....
I've found it hard to get in the crafting mood since I got back, but I have made this card from a Crafts U Print download - it uses Iris folding. Frustratingly the site won't let me upload it at the moment though.
Here are a few pictures from the hol. I am not going to attempt to do anything fancy with them - it takes too long! There are some poor Teddies with their heads on spikes from the Merrythought premises at Ironbridge. Some baby swans with their parents. Stokesay castle - where I could happily spend all my days - I love this place and this is the second time I have been, the audio tour is great and I would recommend it if you are in the area.

I'm here for you

I've used a Limited edition Harriet Hurst stamp for this card from Nutcrafters. The green and cream background papers are from my stash and are ancient! The spotty card is from My Mind's Eye. I've also added some die cut vintage corners using the cuttlebug.

Happy 4th of July if you celebrate it. Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday.
This is a very simple card I made for one of my Craftrak cards. If you don't know what I am on about check it out here.

These are a few others I have made.
