Week 26 - LIM

I haven't missed a week of the challenge on Less is More yet. But this week was a close call as the challenge is "Feeling fruity". I remembered I had printed this digi a while ago, so I was saved! I can't remember who it is from though and now can't find it on my PC either. The sentiment is from a SU stamp set. I coloured the image with my promarkers and then added some Martha Stewart glitter to the leaves and strawberry and then for the strawberry flower I applied Diamond sparkles-angel whispers.
I spent the day with Paula yesterday. We hit the My Craft Studio warehouse sale, and got some fab bargains and had a loads of crafty chat with other people that where there. The best bit was filling a box for £5 - I got all sorts, meltdust paper, acetate, printed MCS sheets, stationery box kits and it goes on! Then we had lunch at the pub and back to Paula's for some crafty tutorials on MCS - if only I did instructions LOL! but it is so much easier when someone shows you. Followed by a lot of chat and a very late night departure home for me.Right, now I need to find a home for all my new purchases.

This is the second post from me today. I had a banging headache last night after all the noise from the new windows being fitted. But I wanted to craft! So in the process of putting everything back in the craft room I had a sort out and found some decoupage that I had forgotten about. I sat and cut out a few last night and then put them together this morning. I have also sprayed this with Crafter's companion spray and shine which I just took delivery of. Although you can't really see it in the photo it has given it a lovely sheen. I was supposed to have the spray and shine a few months ago from C&C but it wasn't in the parcel when it arrived. I tried to explain to customer services that there was no way the padded envelope was big enough for all that was supposed to be in it! After three phone calls and two emails I eventually got the form to claim for the missing item, it said to post it to the address on the form, but there was no address on the form. So another email another phone call and finally I got a refund. But as you don't know if they are going to refund or resend the item I have had to put off buying it until I found out!
The card is for the following challenges:-
Bunny Zoe Crafts challenge - fun in the sun
Ladybug crafts Ink TLT challenge - summer birthdays
If the shoe fits-summer
Craft your days away-summertime

I would stop eating chocolate............

The sentiment reads "I would stop eating CHOCOLATE but I'm not a quitter". I put ruffled ribbon around it and you can't quite see it now for the photo! I decided to finally give embossing with my crafter's companion board a go, especially as I had bought some spray and slide too. Not too bad for a first attempt! I found a sticky mess the other day when I realised that glue had been seeping from my CC spray and stick, I emailed them and they sent me a replacement can straight away, so you can't say fairer than that.
Anyway, this card is for the challenge on CES challenge blog for humour or funny.

I forgot yesterday to share this photo of the Angel of the North. I had seen it from the A1 but usually on the way to a meeting, but this time I got to detour and actually look at it. A very impressive piece of art and the foundations are deeper than the angel itself to ensure it stays put.

It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas!

Well it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in blogland with all the Xmas in July challenges. I've made this card using the Art Deco follies MCS cd rom and created the sentiment myself on the PC. I'd like to enter it into the Crafty Creations challenge which is for Christmas in July and Allsorts challenge which is a free and easy this week.
I've just come back from a few days away in the North East. We went to the Beamish Open Air museum.

This shows them making rhubarb and custard sweets! and we got to taste them whilst they were still warm.

They have just opened a fish and chip shop there. We waited for 15 minutes and we got nowhere and then people were telling us it was an hour to queue so we abandoned the idea. When we passed later the queue was still as long.

We went to Souter lighthouse prepared to climb to the top. However, the "normal" steps only went two thirds of the way, then there was a ladder type arrangement which we both chickened out of!

I had bought a new sat nav for this trip, complete with all new whizzy things and live traffic updates, after 1.5 hours the display went blank and never recovered whilst we were away. I wish I had taken my old one as a back up. It is apparently a hardware problem, so I decided to return it and just revert to the old one!

Having some new windows fitted today so there is a lot of banging going on as I sit and type this.

Less is More - week 25 button or ribbon

This is my second post for today.
For my entry into the Less is More challenge this week, I've stamped vintage sewing images onto paper and then cut out a digi image of a dress form from the paper using my silhouette cutter. Then I punched circles out of the same paper and punched holes in them to replicate buttons. Added a few punched butterflies for some interest.

No pink or blue

I've used a digi from The Stamping Boutique on this card. She is obviously sewing a really cute fairy dress! I thought she would be perfect for the challenge on the Sweet Stampin' challenge, which is for Fashion. Makes a change from some of my more obvious fashion images I use. I used the sketch from Digital Tuesday challenge and also followed the challenge on Crafty Catz weekly challenge which is "no pink or blue". I found this quite hard as all the papers I wanted to use had either pink or blue on them. In the end I went with some papers from PTI and now see that they mirror the colours of my last card! Which by the way I nearly didn't post because I wasn't sure about it, so surprised by all the lovely comments I received on it. Finally I would like to enter her into the "oh so girly" challenge over on Cardmadfairy Digi Days challenge.

Circles in my mind

I've had the circle theme for the Less is More challenge running through my mind, even though I had already done a card for the challenge. This is my second attempt. I've used a stencil I found whilst looking for paint brushes! this used to adorn my kitchen walls many years ago and took ages to go all around the walls and round the doors.  Anyway, here it is on a card with a freebie digi image from PC Hug Bug in matching colours. Sentiment is from Waltzing Mouse - so far have used the sentiments from the frame set on quite a few cards as they seem to cover most occasions.
I'd also like to enter it into these challenges:-
 Papertake Weekly challenge - cute
Cardmadfairy's digi days challenge - include an animal digi

Still Christmas in July

Well it seems that the last Christmas card I made and entered at Winter Wonderland challenge was for the challenge that finished last week! So I felt I ought to make another one, this time with the right theme! which is embossing - wet or dry. I did have to use this snowflake embossing folder on my "list" and ironically did intend to use it on the last card but things went a different way (as they do!).
I'd also like to enter it into the challenge on Kaboodle Doodles for embossing.

Christmas in July

I've had an unexpected day off today to wait in for a parcel to be delivered any time between 9 and 5. Luckily it's now been delivered so I can go out. I had to show proof of Identity - even though I was standing in my own house LOL! I guess someone could have ordered something snuck in and then waited for the parcel!!!
There are quite a few challenges for Christmas cards at the moment in blogland so that was the inspiration for my card and a start on the many I need to make! I used the colour scheme from Colour Create challenge which is cream, aqua and pale pink with the option of ribbon. The ribbon on my card I have had for so long and never used, then I was thinking "what if I want it for something else?" does anyone else do that?? The image is Penny Black and coloured with promarkers.
I'd also like to enter the card into these challenges:-
I love promarkers-Christmas in July
Winter Wonderland - red and green should not be seen
Stamp Something -Christmas in July
Moving Along with the Times-favourite things (Shopping!)
Allsorts - free and easy

Ben 10

This is a card for a little boy who apparently loves Ben 10. Personally I have never heard of him! So I Googled him and got these images. I've used a 10x7 card blank and put the images with a freebie from Funky Hand which is on their challenge blog - Get Funky. That freebie was the nudge I needed to do this boy card LOL!  I changed the colours in MCS to fit with the theme, so I hope that is ok for the challenge. I then used a SU trendy trees stamp, some free papers from magazines and coloured in the manga Ben 10 with promarkers. This is the inside of the card.
I'd also like to enter the card into these challenges:-
Cute Card Thursday - circles
Cupcake Crafts - stars

I just love this Anya flapper girl and she hasn't seen ink for a  while. So the challenge on Creatalicious challenges for something from the 1920s brought her to mind immediately. The sentiment was made on the PC. The flowers are my first handmade flowers! I couldn't get the hang of how to roll them at first but then saw on Youtube someone using a quilling tool. I still had mine back from the 1980s!!! and I knew exactly where it was so I dug it out and the flowers looked much better with some tighter rolling that the tool allows. I'd also like to enter her into:-
Digi Doodle Shop's Best challenge- which is for "make your own flowers"
One Stitch at a Time challenge- flowers
Divas by design challenge - pastels

On Saturday whilst I was engrossed in my painting I heard a noise outside. Then I heard what sounded like someone trying to get into the patio window! Heart racing I went to investigate and saw a long shape against the window trying to get in. It was a CAT! hanging from the sill down the window, all stretched out it just looked like someone stood there - frightened me to death. It still tried to get in even with me shouting at it! Eventually it gave up and dropped down to the patio.

Circles meets A Day for Daisies

The challenge on Less is More this week is for "Circles". I had already got this card planned in my mind for the Day for Daisies challenge, but decided to add the extra poppy circles to fit with LIM. I am quite pleased with the outcome. Day for Daises are new to me and I have fallen in love with their images.

The Day for Daisies challenge is for a trio of cards, so using the free images kindly supplied here are the other two cards.
Last week on LIM someone had used the Waltzing-mouse frame stamps, well I couldn't resist. They came yesterday and I used one right away for this card.
The card below uses a freebie sentiment from Create with TLC.
Ok off for a rest now. Spent all day yesterday and part of today decorating.

Cutting out

This is another card made from the MCS Deco follies cdrom. I printed the background and superimposed the stained glass window over the top. I know in real life it wouldn't have that, but I just loved the mix of the colours! I added a sprinkle of diamond dust to the clouds in the sky. I then printed and cut the lady separately and decoupaged her over the rest of the scene. Used one of the sentiments from the disc and used a frame to surround it.
I'd like to enter the card into Kaboodle Doodles challenge, which is "use those scissors". I certainly did on this card! and Aud's sentiments challenge - a sentiment with at least two words.

LIM week 24-one layer card with legs

The challenge on Less is more this week is a one layer card with legs. Well I have a multitude of fashion stamps and so thought I was sorted there. This stamp is new to me, I just got it from Barbara Gray at Clarity stamps in her sale for members. I had wanted it for so long, so glad it was in the sale and could "justify" it LOL! The sentiment is from Create with TLC and printed on the PC.
This is how she looked before I coloured her in - not sure if I prefer this or not?

To the seaside

The challenge over on Creative Inspirations is - To the seaside. I've used a MCS cdrom - Deco follies by Nancy Watt. I printed the background with my text imposed on it and then printed the lady and corners separately. All mounted on a background paper from the cdrom. I'm not really sure what the expression means as such! it is on the cd rom and it seemed to fit with the image.
Of course as always with me there is a story to the final card. Can you see the bottom corner piece and then look at the top one, the square is missing - where did it go??? Looked on the floor but on a dark blue mat it is hard to spot LOL! Just decided to go with it, as I had stuck the other corner down so well I can't lift it off now.

The Little Bear Shop

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my last post, I really appreciate your encouragement. I have used a different cdrom for this card, one from Jem designs called Little Shop Window decoupage. I printed several layers of the teddies and decoupaged them up, printed the window and then mounted it on acetate to give the effect of the shop window. It bowed out a little bit too much for my liking, so I put a strip of brown ribbon either side of the image so that I could stretch the window frame to make it less bowed.
I'd like to enter this into the Papertake Weekly challenge - anything goes.

In the garden

About a year ago I didn't have any craft cd roms - now I have loads! I recently bought a Beatrix Potter one which I was just going to use for the images. However, when I loaded it, it was full of projects. Well, I took the plunge and decided to make one of them, the frame card. I am really pleased with how it has turned out. As anyone will tell you - I don't do measuring, but this was print and cut and score and fold, and that was it. I think I will be attempting some of the other projects on this cd too.
I'd like to enter this into C.R.A.F.T. challenge - gardening.

Black and gold

I've made this card for the Forever Friends challenge which is "birthday". You don't have to use just FF images any more, any animal can be used, but I decided to give my black and gold cdrom an airing and print out some elements. The DP and everything you see apart from the gold mirri card are on the cdrom. I also gave the flower and the wording a dusting with diamond dust.
With the bits I had left over I then made two more cards.

Make for the border

This is my second post for today. While I was in the zone of making the last card I carried on. I had originally thought to mix this PTI paper with the paper on the last card, but in the end decided against it. So I made use of those pieces and made this card. I also added a border which I think looks nice in the same paper.
I'd like to enter this into the A Passion for Papertrey challenge - make for the border.

LIM - week 22 SHADES of BLUE

I was struggling what to do for this week on Less is More for a while. Then I decided to use my newest poppy stamp and make it a Himalayan poppy. The paper I have used is textured and I have had it since year dot. I used both sides of it to give different shades of colour. The sentiment at the bottom is from a PTI set.

Yesterday I went to a Rock Choir taster session. You may have seen it on the TV. This is a new choir for the area and they were queuing out of the door to get in.  I used to sing a lot. When I was at school I was in the choir and then we had a new music teacher who held auditions. You had one chance to hit the middle C she played on the piano, I didn't and I was out, I have been scarred by that experience ever since. Well I had a great time yesterday, no auditioning, so I signed up, but now have to wait until term starts in September to get another fix.

Lavender and lemon

I've used a shaped card blank for this card and then cut out the elements on the silhouette, apart from the smaller label which is an SU stamp from baby blossoms, and cut out by hand. Still learning with the silhouette but pleased with these flowers.
I'd like to enter this into Simon Says Stamp challenge for lavender and lemon.
