August Rudolph Day

It's time for Rudolph day on Sarn's blog. Each month Sarn challenges us to make two Christmas cards and here are mine for August. I've gone a bit girly (nothing new really!). The first uses a Pink Petticoat digi and the second one is a die cut from Papermania enchanted range and I added a mulberry leaf (remember them?) which I gave a new lease of life to by spraying the CC glitter. I then used a mistletoe Lavina stamp with verdigris embossing powder and liquid pearls for the corners.
I'd also like to entr them into the Winter Wonderland challenge which this week is Anything goes for Xmas.

I've also got some exciting news - I'm joining a new DT next week - watch this space to find out which one.

LIM week 186 sketch

I bought some silkie paints from Imagination crafts this week or rather their stockist BJ Crafts, as you could only get the pots from them. I saw them on C&C and was intrigued by brayering with them as the ones I have already got are in very fine vials with a brush and so have limited use.
This is my first go with them and I'm rather pleased at the outcome. I used glossy coated card and brayed the colours over, then used some Hobbyart stamps to make the scene. I then used a die to cut out the image. The sentiment is from Anna Griffin.
This is a close up as the light is not the best for taking photos.

We went out for a meal last night and my friend who also crafts did exactly the same as me when the coffee arrived with a rather nice doily - we both snaffled them. The men had unfortunately already spilt coffee on theirs! Today we've been to see the film Lucy which was great, my only criticism would be it isn't long enough.
I'm really busy with work at the moment, (I'm even having to give up part of my BH Monday) so I am sorry that I have not been commenting other than my DT duties. I'll be back to normal soon.

My card is of course for the Less is More challenge which this week is this sketch............

To die for

A really simple and quick card from me as I am a bit short on time at the moment. I used a blank pre printed card and then a die cut dress I got ages ago before I had any dies of my own and thought I never would (!). I added some black sparkle to the dress and a G45 sentiment.
I'd like to enter this card into the "to die for" challenge on Papertake weekly challenge.

mid month reminder for anything goes at Penny Black & More

It's time to remind you of our "anything goes" challenge on Penny Black & More. For my DT card I used another one of the Clever Cut Stencils, this time inking through using dusters with TH inks. I then used PB40-191 Uptown and PB 30-097 hello gorgeous with a sentiment stamp from Flonzcraft. I paper pieced the shop front and added some glitter for the glass reflection lines. Glossy accents have been added to the sunglasses.
Please do come and join us and remember you can enter up to three times, just no digis and we need to see stamping as the focal point of your card.

I'm also going to show everyone over at Pixies Snippets challenge as I used the tiniest of snippets to paper piece the shop. The one for the topiary bush is almost the last snippet I have left of that paper.

Quilted fun at CD Sunday

I've used the "Say it with words" Cd rom from Ooh La La crafts again, really like the art work on this cd. The papers were left over from the last card I did using this cd and I thought they went with this image. To fit Jocelyn's quilt challenge at CD Sunday I cut out the shapes using a Joanna Sheen signature die and then stuck them onto some card and quilted (embossed!) them. The Clearly Besotted "birthday" die has made it onto another card, I was going to stamp in that little gap -but the die just seemed to fit the space nicely.
Because I used snippets (and were some of those pieces small!!!) I'm heading over to show Miss Di and the girls at Pixies Snippets Playground too.

LIM week 184- one layer, foilage

Time for the one layer challenge week again of Less is More. This time the theme is foliage. I've used a set of Gina K stamps in the main and one other leaf stamp (unknown). I used one of the clever cut stencils and some heritage autumn coloured inks to make the grid template onto glossy card, then stamped the leaves through using the same colours as the background.

Scenic poppies

The challenge on Ooh La La Creations is "scenic". I decided to use "A walk in the countryside" cd rom by Creative crafting world and do some teabag folding, as it is ages since I did any. This cd comes complete with teabag sheets, so you just have to cut them out and assemble, and this layout even has a space designed especially for the teabag creation. I've added a SU sentiment and a little ribbon and jewel to the centre of my teabag folding - and that's it. Except I couldn't stop at that so I printed the same image in black and white, reduced it down and popped it inside....
Had a lovely day in London yesterday visiting the V&A Wedding dress exhibition - it is absolutely fab. We took over 2.5 hours to get around it all so well worth the money. Here is Kate Moss's dress, which at the time I didn't rate, but in real life it is stunning.

Food glorious food

I've had the Makey Bakey mice cd for some time now and had forgotten all the lovely things that are on there. So I was glad when the challenge on CD Sunday was food and it prompted me to look out this fab cd.
I've used backing paper from the cd rom and then used a PB stamp which I applied different inks to prior to stamping and then not coloured in for a simpler look. The die sentiment is from clearly besotted. The layout was achieved by using one of the clever cut templates, but I altered the middle to be a straight square rather than a diagonal.
I also used the die sindie the card with some left over paper, adding a little Paula Pascal "happy" stamp.

LIM week 183 - colour challenge

The challenge on Less is More this week is a colour one - using this palette.....

color sip

I used a stencil from Clever cuts for the diamonds, stencilling through TH inks and then I ran the base card through an embossing folder to put more diamonds on the card. Finishing touch is a die from Clearly Besotted. As with all things from Clearly Besotted - I have become besotted with this die, so watch out for it again very soon!

We had a lovely week away in the Peak District last week, not too far to travel and lots to do without taking the car. But, we had one day where we ventured into Manchester and I went to the hairdressers - see below.
It is of course Audrey's hair salon from Coronation Street, we went on the tour and it was fantastic. So strange to see something in real life that you have seen on the TV and to realise how small it all is. We also got to see the old dressing rooms, green room and make up room and some of the room sets.
They even had Roy and Hayley's snowpeople.

Anything goes at Penny Black & More for August

It's time for the start of another challenge over on Penny Black & More and this month it's nice and easy with "Anything goes".
For my DT card I've used PB 40-225 Tuning Up for the main image and sentiment. I've used some great stamps I got from Cracker Box Palace to complement the PB - perfect for a car lover. I decided not to colour my main image but stamp on some Papermania linen card to give a bit of a grunge/garage look.
Thanks for looking and don't forget to enter our challenge, remember no digis!
