Pearls and Lace @ CD Sunday

The challenge on CD Sunday this time is Pearls and Lace chosen by Wynn. I decided to use the Ooh La La CD Rom - Shoes in Bloom vol 1. This image and backing paper are from the Red Roses and Black Pearls section.

I love this top note die from tonic and was so pleased when it was the exact fit for a pre made card blank using the same shape, so I cut my background from the DP and then used some burnished silver card to cut the lattice die to count the image. Using two of the smaller dies to make a frame for my sentiment.

Loving the sunshine we are enjoying at the moment - too nice to be inside!

Let's get Krafty @ Ooh La La challenge blog

Janice chose our theme of Let's get Krafty over on Oh La La challenge blog this week. I bought this pack of Papermania small Kraft cards and got a bit carried away with the theme creating my DT card(s)! But lots of Christmas cards to add to my stash.
I've printed various images from the Say it with Words cdrom from Oh La La and combined with some white embossing and die cut holly from mirri card.

This final card I embossed the card blank and then spray the whole card with Crafters companion glitter spray.
Can't wait to see what Krafty inspired makes you create.

week 243 LIM-Something Shiny

I just bought these pre-loved Clarity window stamps as I had an idea to use them with gilding flakes on these pre made arched card blanks. So when I saw the challenge this morning on Less is More was "something shiny"and the stamps had arrived yesterday - I tried out my idea.

I found my flitter glue had gone off! I thought I had put the lid on tight, nearly a full pot too. So instead I used some Martha Stewart glue and pad that I had from a glitter kit and it worked fine. The sentiments are from Papermania.

September Rudolph Day

I bought this Penny Black die and the Lawn Fawn sentiment die whilst on my recent shopping trip with Scrappy Mo in Canada - so I thought it fitting to use it for Mo's Rudolph day challenge this month. You can read about my trip here.

I had so much fun with this die, I actually had another card planned but then got the idea to use the die as a travelling scene as this reminds me so much of the scenery from my holiday. I used some burnished gold and sliver card and then added a few trees from a Crafters companion die too.

Kraft and blue

I have had elements of a card on my desk for a good few weeks now, ready to enter the Cardz 4 Guyz challenge. Each week comes and I find I've missed the boat - but my elements still fit in some way. Except for this week - I just had to put those bits and pieces to one side and start afresh because the challenge involves Kraft paper and that wasn't in any of the ideas I had previously.
I've actually used Cake Crumb from SU as I don't have any Kraft - so hopefully that is ok.

For my first card I just scored a piece of the card then using the Lil Inker die cut out the sentiment and then cut again from blue card which I inserted into the die. So this card also fits the challenge on Simon Says - No Designer paper.

As I was on a role, I did a second card. This time the brusho background was on my desk and was going to have a different treatment, but I decided to see what the card looked like on the blank space I created used a post it whilst making the brusho background. This time I have used the same technique but not filled all of the die in. The candles are a die from Tattered lace.

Sew Special

I've been on the lookout for a patchwork die for ages, but they keep selling out. So I decided to do my own version using one of the Joanna Sheen Patchwork dies. Oh dear, it took ages to cut all these pieces with one die! Then they didn't fit together exactly as I'd hoped, but I persevered to make this background for the Lavender the Quilter stamp which I paper pieced using the same papers as the background. Finally I used a Sue Wilson banner to stamp the sentiment onto.

I'm entering this card into the Sew special challenge at Stamping Sensations this month and because I used lots of snippets I'll pop into the snippets playground with it too.

BTW - I have a die on order - not going through this again!

Week 242 LIM - Technology

When I first saw the theme on the Less is More  challenge was Technology - I had no idea what I could do. But then the ideas came - and wouldn't stop. So this is a picture heavy post!

The first card uses a digi from digi stamp boutique and sentiments from the Social Sentiments collection from KennyK. I added the tick and cross as otherwise if you don't go on Facebook, it may not make much sense. I was going to put glossy accents on the glass but insead used a versarmark pen and clear embossing powder.

My next card was actually my first idea, using a free image and another sentiment from KennyK with a Paula Pascaul stamped sentiment.

This is a digi image and I just added the KennyK sentiment.
A Day for Daisies image with the sentiment added. I am also entering this into the DFD challenge which is "Frame it".
Last but not least this was a bauble I had made using a brusho background and a stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I then put clear embossing powder over it for a shine. As it was sitting on my desk waiting to be used it got the sentiment treatment too. I used another Paula Pascaul sentiment stamp and added the hashtag using a micron pen.
If you've stayed this far - then thanks for looking ;)

Gorgeous Gowns @ CD Sunday

My second post for today - please scroll down for my Penny Black & More mid month DT card, as the CD Sunday challenge is about to close.

Being the fashionista that I am, I really wanted to enter CD Sunday challenge this time - which is Gorgeous Gowns. I have soooo many cdroms with fashion on them that I was spoilt for choice, but I also had an idea to combine them with the Tim Holtz Runway stamps that I have.

I've actually made three cards as I had so many ideas.

The first one above is a selection of wedding gowns. I took the images from MCS Fashionistas cdrom and the papers from their Catwalk Collection cdrom. I created it in MCS printed it out and then stamped the bride from the TH and positioned in front of the other models. I lightly brushed the card with spun sugar and used a flourish stamp to add some background detail.
I have to say I am addicted to a shows on TLC featuring bridal gowns - "Say Yes to the Dress", "I found the Gown" and "Something Borrowed something new" so that gave me the idea.

Then my next card is a background the same cd rom but this time one of the TH images stamped directly onto the paper and a sentiment from a Creative Expressions set. Then coloured with promarkers.
Lastly - The same idea as the first one but with gowns and some diamond jewels for the lights.
I really enjoyed that - thanks for the challenge CD Sunday.

Anything goes at Penny Black & More mid month reminder

A reminder of our challenge this month at Penny Black & More which is Anything goes so nice and easy. You don't even have to use a Penny Black image to win but we must see stamping or a stickeroo as your main focal point on the card and strictly no digis.

For my DT card I used PB30-103 wishes set taking one of the stamps and using it on glossy card with vaseline. I then used distress inks over the top to form the resist. I then used the same stamp and the same colours to stamp and cut out to mount onto the card. The sentiment is from PB 30-115 Lace Delight.

Ribbons and Bows at Ooh La La Creations Challenge

For my Ooh La La Creations DT card I've used Passion for Fashion Cdrom. If you are looking for this image on the cd it is called "All in Green" - I took it into MCS and turned it into my favourite colour instead and I think she looks just as good! I used one of the quick cards as my base then cropped the main image in MCS and cut out and layered on top with foam pads. As Susan has choosen Ribbons and bows for our theme this fortnight I added a lot of ribbon and a bow. I'd love to see your card in our challenge this fortnight.

LIM and meeting Scrappy Mo

Well I am recently back from a trip to Western Canada - but more about that in a moment. First my card for Less is More challenge this week. The theme is Wishing - and due to jet lag I am glad it is one layer! I used Papertrey Vintage Picnic set and coloured the apples with promarkers, adding a touch of glossy accents to the apples to make them nice and shiny.

So who do we know who lives in Canada? - Scrappy Mo of course - of Rudolph Day fame,  and here I am with her when we visited her house.
This lovely lady has been helping me and our friends for the past few months with recommendations of where to stay and eat whilst visiting her country. To say she has gone the extra mile is an understatement - we couldn't have done it without you Mo! So, to finally meet up on our last day of the holiday was a great experience and Mo and her husband where wonderful hosts. We also got to go craft shopping - so new goodies to play with and showcase soon.

Here are a few selected pictures of the trip.
We began in Vancouver and this baby Elk was on the beach-just magical to see.
A cement factory that turned their towers into an art work on Granville Island. We loved the market here but I forgot to take any photos as I was so taken by all the wonderful produce.
The Gas clock in Gas town - Vancouver.
Then we headed for Jasper via Kamloops. This is Pryamid mountain.

Silver birches around Lake Pryamid.

Lake Peyto
Then onto Banff via the Icefields Parkway

.and the coldest place we visited at 1 degree - Lake Moraine.

On our travels we saw this elk and this is the photo I took with it safely behind the barrier. I returned to the car.
Then my friend got out the car and as everyone was running away she took this photo.
Wildlife at Lake Louise

Finally Kelowna and our hotel - back warmth at 20 degrees

Anything goes at Penny Black & More

It's Anything Goes at Penny Black & More this September so I do hope you can join us. You don't need to use a Penny Black Stamp just make stamping the focal point of your card and remember we don't allow digital images.

For my DT card I've used PB 42 56K Words so Sweet. I love typewriters, so I had to have this Tattered Lace die and then the embossing folder too! I'm pleased to be able to combine them to complement the Penny Black Stamp.

I used a piece of glossy card and did a vaseline resist with a stencil before embossing with two of the embosing folders. I then stamped the image and lightly inked over the image with my dusters.

Thanks for looking and I do hope to see your card in our gallery this month.
