Butterflies galore!

You might have seen me use this CC die the other day with glitter, as it is a prize in the current Snippets Playground challenge.

I decided before putting away to have a go at another idea I had. I used the die to cut my own stencil. Because I won't be using it a lot I just used thick card rather than mylar. You can see the result above. I used some texture paste with a little Lucious pigment powder from Indigo Blu mixed in. A few of the tiny butterflies ended up as a blob, so I used the waste from the die to put over them and coloured with a sparkly gell pen.

I used patterned paper from an old Phill Martin pad to stencil onto and then stencil words from a Studio light stencil in pink and a stamped sentiment from Simply Graphic. Mounted onto a TL diecut.

I'd like to enter this card into the challenge at Triple B challenge.

Of course then I had another idea! To use the stencil again this time with distress inks. I don't think the definition was as good this time around, so I took the die and placed it over the inking and then ran around it with a gell pen. I thought that gave it some shape. Papers are from another PM pad and sentiment came with the die.

Both beautiful cards, love all the little butterflies and different ways you used the stencil.

Top idea using the butterfly die as a stencil. It's interesting to see how the stencilling went with texture paste as well as inks. Love both cards - especially the first. Thanks for the Snippets Playground shout out too! xxx

That's a great way to use that die. It looks great with the paste. I must get my pastes out, it has been ages. Bet I will find them all dried up! xx
