Foil snippets

It's the 500th challenge at the Snippets Playground - wow! What an achievement and all down to Di and of course Sarn for a good few years too.

There is a mandatory theme of Celebration. I took a snippet of white card and applied a dotty stencil with paste to it. Then I used these snippets of foil that I had kept in the hope of being able to use the bits around the dies I had used them with.

I used the laminator method. Placing them between the sheets of some paper with the paste background and running it through the laminator. The picture above shows after I had pulled the foil snippets off the background.

I decided to have a go with some other stencils and was disappointed with the results. I think this stencil worked so well as there is a lot of space between the dots.

Anyway this panel turned out ok and I knew I had the perfect word die. I tried something I have never done before, which was to cover the die cut (double thickness) with stencil paste and foil it using the same method as before. It worked out ok but not perfect. As this is going to be a male card I think I will get away with it as a grungy look!

Finishing touch was a couple of die cut tankards using snippets again. I would have liked them to be facing opposite ways, but these are the only dies for tankards I have. I think one was Tattered Lace and maybe the other was in a CC advent calendar. Mounted onto a snippet of mirri card onto a blank card base.

Fantastic use of foil snippets Lynn - perfect with the dotty stencil and tankards. I only ever once tried foiling as I needed to for a DT card, and I really struggled with it as donā€™t have a laminator. Yours has come out beautifully x

This technique would be a great excuse to dust off my laminator, maybe I'll pick up some foil next time I'm at a craft store. Love how your card turned out, it's perfect for a celebration!

Great card Lynn - my laminator needs a run around the block so I might well try this. Looks to me like folk are Celebrating the Munich Beer Festival!

Hi Lynn
Great way to use up your foil snippets.
Haven't tried foiling with paste .. .. .. something else for the "would be good to try" list!!
Your blog is so inspirational. Thank you for all you share with everyone.

Fabulous fun card, very effective. You would have thought the pressure of the laminator would squash the paste, what a great idea. Emma
