Snippet flower garden

I dug out this stencil which I haven't used in a very long time. I realised it was suited to the reverse stencil technique. When I bought it (10+ years ago and new to stencilling) I hadn't realised the foliage wouldn't be green if used the traditional way. To remedy that I randomly put shades of green ink in the areas where the foliage would be and then placed the stencil over and applied black ink.

Yet again I found the black to be too dark! So I splashed some water and toned it down. Then I used a Phill Martin sentiment stamp and embossed in white to lighten the area. My finishing touch are flowers cut from snippets. Some are old TL and probably from advent calendars, but also using a new die set from Pocket Full of Happiness. These are only part of the set and hopefully I will be showcasing the full die set soon.

Here are my snippets and also my little pot of snippet dots from other makes which came in useful for some of the flower centres on this card.

I'm off to the Snippets Playground challenge with this card, also as the stencil really was very neglected I'm entering at The Neglected Stuff Challenge too.

What a wonderful card youā€™ve made using a great technique, old stash and lots of snippets. Itā€™s so striking. The embossed sentiment really stands out. Love all those sweet flowers dotted about.

Thanks for coming to play in the Snippets Playground. See you up in the freshly cleaned treehouse shortly. Xxx

This is a great card for the Snippets challenge and I like the way you managed to lighten the black area - I'm not keen on too much black which can easily overpower the rest of the design. I also have a pot (or two) of dots, hearts, stars and what have you - so handy for finishing touches šŸ˜Š. Great stencilling and the scattered flowers are pretty

I've never tried this technique Lynn but I love the effect, your card is beautiful. Going to have to look through my stencils now and try it out! Thanks for the inspiration. xx

Your inking method has produced a lovely textured look. Those back to front stencils can be really annoying to use. You have pulled it off beautifully with this card. Great use for those snippets too xx

What a fabulous card, despite that tricky stencil, which would have had me stumped. Love the pot of dots! xxx

LOVE this card Lynn! It shouts of Spring - hooray! We had Tilly and her Mum Kim over for a Pupdate with Dudley yesterday afternoon and we sat out in the sunshine with them whilst they played, still sharing grief. Your lovely card sums up so well our hopes for brighter times. That really is one corker of a stencil - clever girlie!
