Fav five cards of 2014

Join me on the 30th December
Have you shared your fav five Christmas cards you made yet? Well now Debby is giving us a chance to showcase our five fav cards from 2014 - I knew it was coming but it was still hard to do!

I made this card for a friend who was 50 this year, I made the background myself on silk art card and then used die cuts to finish off and that beautiful sentiment which I love using.
Another landscape but this time it was for the Less is More challenge so I was CAS. I was so pleased that this card got showcased by the LIM ladies.

This is a stamp that I wanted and decided to be good and not get, then couldn't find it anywhere. But good old ebay came to the rescue.
This was one of my Penny Black & More DT cards using a stickeroo. I made the background and then embossed it and bleached out some of the colour with water - inspired by Sheena Douglass.
Another Penny Black & More DT card this time for a special lady who was 16 this year.

Winter Walks with Carol @ CD Sunday

Well I didn't expect to be making a Christmas card quite so soon! The challenge on CD Sunday is Winter walks and I started with the image of the lady in the frame from MCS Festive Deco Follies as I haven't used it for ages. I then found a backing paper that was the same as the scene behind the lady and lined it up to look like she is in a scene in a frame (if that makes snese!) I then added the background Merry Christmas paper, croping part of it for the sentiment on the background and then added snowflakes and more poinsettias. Finally I put the snowdrift at the foot of the card and added some glitter and the ribbon.
It's ages since I made a whole card using MCS and I really enjoyed resizing and layering it all up.
On a practical note - I doubt her walk will be a long one in those shoes in the snow LOL!

All kinds of fairies

I try to join in Mrs A's butterfly challenge when I can. Only to find today that it isn't butterflies at all but All Kinds of Fairies. This card does have butterflies so I hope that is ok as they were part of the design image etc. So I've made this card this afternoon and now the light has gone and the challenge is about to close............
I've used ooh la la cd rom - say it with words for the papers and image and the stamps are from Lindsay Mason, Lavinia and Debbie Moore. Some TH distress broken glass glitter on the wings and some Hunkydory diamond sparkles for the butterfly and angel wings on the image.
I'm also entering this card in to the Simon says Challenge which is anything goes.

My favourite five Christmas Cards of 2014

Once again Debby has asked us to showcase our fav five Christmas cards of 2014 - here are the ones I've chosen.

This first card was made using Tattered Lace dies and I won their challenge with it too!
I had a bit of a blue phase this year. This is a card I made with Clarity Stamps adding a SU sentiment stamp. I cut out the image with a A2 distressed edge spellbinder die.
Using the distressed die again this time to cut out this lovely image and a stamp I won in the snippets playground this year - thanks Miss Di.

These final two cards are from my Penny Black & More DT cards. I love this Tonic trellis and it looks lovely in the red mirri.
Finally something a little different for me. I used a Nicecrane image and then added a Penny Black lady. I used foam tape behind the gold card to give a recess for the image.
Well we still have the snow hanging about - so I guess I'll just have to stay in and craft!

Penny Black & More special occasions - mid month reminder for our challenge

Well the big day is getting close now. I'm here with a reminder of our challenge at Penny Black & More which this month is special occasions. So if you've done all your Christmas cards, you can get ahead with another card as we want to see all special occasions including Christmas.
For my card I took Penny Black 3883K cityscape and stamped it three times for the background scene. I then over layed some glittered sticky plastic and masked off spraying just the bottom with CC silver glitter, then adding some "snow". I used Penny Black 3908K favourite time and coloured her with promarkers and glitter. The sentiment die is from Cottage Cutz.

CD Sunday - song titles

I've used the Ooh La La Say it With Words cdrom for this card. I printed the backing paper from the cd rom and the image without the words, then took it into MCS and added my own. There is some glitter on the card, but I haven't managed to capture it.
My song title is To the moon and back - Savage Garden and I would like to enter it into the song title challenge at CD Sunday.

Special occasions at Penny Black & More December challenge

Hello everyone. I'm here with my DT card for the December challenge over at Penny Black & More, which this month is special occasions (which can include Christmas). For my card I've used an image from Nicecrane which I resized to fit my card. I just love this image - it's so sweet. I then embossed some gold card and cut a hole for the image with a nestie and then a a frame from the same card. I've used PB 4350K Bright Star colouring her coat with promarkers, glitter in her hair and cosmic shimmer glue for the buttons and berries.
Me and my teamies would love to see your work, but to be eligible for the fab prizes or to be a GDT you must make hand stamping the focal point of your card. No digis are allowed, not even if they are hand coloured.

All dressed up challenge

I recently discovered All Dressed Up digis and really love them. This digi although not a Christmas one I decided to make into a Christmas card for the eldest OH grand daughter. I put the image into MCS and added the word "yule" and now wonder if a 16 year old will know what this word means! Anyway, the sentiment is also from All dressed Up and is a freebie on the challenge blog. I colourised that in MCS and then added some green to the leaves with a promarker. I used some wide ribbon down the sides cut in half and the two snowflakes are a Waltzing Mouse die.
I'm entering this card into the All Dressed Up Facebook challenge which is Christmas and also the All Dressed Up challenge blog which is as always "anything goes". I'm also entering the card into the challenge sponsered by UDU at That Craft Place which is anything goes.

November Rudolph Day

It's time for the last Rudolph Day of 2014 and the last time with Sarn as the host before she passes over to Scrappy Mo in Canada. Thanks Sarn for all your work in running the Rudolph Day challenge and I look forward to seeing Mo's take on it.
So for now, Sarn challenges us to make two Christmas cards. I made mine with a PB wreath stamp. I stamped it once onto the base card and then again cutting out with a scalloped nestie around the outside and middle. The first one was to see how white on white worked - not too well so I changed over to gilding flakes for the second one. I've added to each some Sue Wilson holly die cuts and the greeting is by Paula Pascale.

Christmas at Ooh La La Creations

It's time for a new challenge over on Ooh La La Creations and my teamie Susan has chosen Christmas, so lots of opportunities for you to get some cards made for this festive time.
For my DT card I've used The Shawn Jenkins collection (again!) it is such a useful cd as it has a Christmas section on it which is where my card comes from. I think this art work is so unusual with it being a nautical Christmas wreath. I have a friend who loves anything to do with the sea, so this is going to be her card for this year, I can't wait until she sees it, as I doubt she's ever had one like it before.
All the elements are from the cdrom, and I also cut out an extra bow to decoupage up the image, just adding some tiny pearls.

I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge.

LIM week 199 - Jingle all the way

"Jingle all the way" is the theme this week on Less is More. For my card I've used some Clarity stamps for the scene and a SU greeting from a set from last year.
I seem to be stuck in blue for Christmas cards at the moment! I'd even put the Paris Dusk ink pad away, so that's not the reason! I stamped all the scene with this colour and then lifted some of it from the sky with a water brush and some kitchen roll. I've also added various frost, glitter, snow effects. Cut out with a spellbinder distressed die and the edges lightly inked.
I'd also like to enter the "Let's get sentimental" challenge on Winter Wonderland.

Anything goes at penny black & more mid month reminder

For my mid month DT card over at Penny Black & More I decided to get out my silkies. I painted silkies onto the stamp and then spritzed with water to create the background and then spritzed some vintage mister too. Then for the main image I did the same thing without the water and used silkies to paint the image.
Thanks for looking and I hope to see you over on our challenge blog, especially as this month it's anything goes as long as it's stamping and not a digi!
Here's a close up to capture the sheen from the silkies.
As I've used Silkies, I'd also like to enter this card into the Anything goes challenge at Imagination Crafts

Houndstooth snowflakes!

I love A Day for Daisies images and when I saw the latest release, I just had to have this image. I used to have a Westie and so this really stood out for me as a fab image.
I decided not to colour the digi but instead to create a red background to put it upon cutting it out using one of the new spellbinder snowflake dies. I then cut the greeting with a cottage cutz die and the snowflakes were from a crafty friend and I overstamped them with the houndstooth stamp and sprayed with CC irridesicent glitter.
I'm entering this into the ADFD challenge where the theme is "use houndstooth".

LIM week 198 - more than one tree

I've been having a play with the gelli plate today. I decided I wanted to try and create some winter skies. For the first one I stamped little stars onto the plate before taking the print and on the second one I used a circle from a post it note to make a moon.
I then used a tree stamp in black with some added glitter and frost.
For this second card I used the spellbinder label 28 again, but cut the sides shorter.

I haven't been able to capture the frost too well - here's another shot.
I'd like to enter them into this week's Less is More challenge - more than one tree and at Sweet stampin challenge - to die for.

Coffee, Peach and Cream with Christine @ CD Sunday

For this card I've used a new cdrom from MCS called Fashionistas. Now, those of you that know me will know I love my fashion, so I bought it on the name alone. I have to say I am a little disappointed as it doesn't have the range of some of the other fashion cdroms MCS do (although the price of £4.99 reflects that I suppose) and I'm not that keen on the images. I decided this image was the one I liked the most and it fitted the challenge at CD Sunday of coffee, peach and cream. I designed and printed the whole thing in MCS so it is a one layer card apart from the gems.

All dressed up challenge

I found some new digital stamps called All Dressed Up and this is my first purchase. I just had to get her once I saw her showcased. I coloured her with promarkers and used a CC embossing folder for the background over two different papers, which I sanded. Then I cut flowers from the embossed papers too.
There's also a All Dressed Up challange blog where anything goes - so I'm off to enter my card there.

More than one fold at Ooh La La Creations challenge

When my teamie Julie at Ooh La La creations challenge blog chose more than one fold as the choice for this challenge I decided to get the old teabag folding skills into force again. For my card I'm using Shawn Jenkins cdrom  and the everyday collection from the cdrom.

First I printed the cupcakes DP and cut eight 5x5cm squares and then I used the basic folds to make triangles which I then slotted together to form the decoration. I then printed the a5 insert but resized it to fit the front of my card. Using My Craft Studio software I took another of the DPs and put that behind the blank panel creating a drop shadow around it. I then cut out digitally two cupcakes and the wording from the topper sheet and placed onto the white area. Finally I added a little glitter to the cupcakes and the border lines and some pink twine for the finishing touch.
I look forward to seeing what folds you come up with for this challenge at Ooh la la creations.

Remember

This is a card I've made using a Spellbinder create a flower die with CC poppy printed vellum. I embossed the background with a Anna Griffin poppy embossing folder and added a little stamp which I coloured with promarkers.
I'd like to enter this card into the Allsorts challenge  poppies/rememberance and sweet stampin challenge poppies or red for rememberance.

LIM week 197 - Starry, starry night

For my entry into Less is More challenge this week I chose to use one of the new Sheena Douglass stamps depicting St Paul's Cathedral. I did imagine this as a Christmas card and so the challenge today of Starry, starry sky prompted me to put ink to card and get on with it! I used some stars for the background stamped in versamark and winter white sparkle embossing powder, I then brushed Memento Paris Dusk ink over the top before stamping the scene in the same colour. The sentiment is from a Creative Expressions stamp set.

Anything Goes at Penny Black & More this month

I decided to use a Penny Black Stickeroo for my DT card at Penny Black & More this month. Our theme is "Anything Goes" so I had no restraints.  I need to use more of these Stickeroos and stop hoarding them LOL! This one is called Dreamscape 10-211 and I teamed it with a PB stamp Live Life PB3942F.
I started by using distress inks to created a background on my card. I then embossed part of the card with a butterfly folder and using water bleached out some of the colour from the card. The other piece of card I left plain and then stamped and stuck on the stickeroos, rounding the corers.

Thanks for looking and I look forward to see what you create this month with our theme of "Anything goes". Remember to check out the blog and see my fellow teamies amazing work too and all those amazing prizes to be won.

LIM week 196 non-trad xmas colours

For the Less is More challenge of non traditional Christmas colours this week I've taken the spellbinder holiday scene die and cut away the middle section for the houses and hills and then cut three freehand triangles for Christmas trees. Paula Pascale sentiment finishes it off.

Silhouettes with Carol @ CD Sunday

I didn't think I was going to get to make this card as things have conspired against me this week time wise. I had planned on using a MCS cdrom that contains silhouettes, but I have also had PC issues and so I have fallen back on a digi image I had already printed out, once at a large size and then at a smaller size. I then used a snippet I had left over from this card which was using the Shawn Jenkins Ooh la la cdrom everyday occasions. Finally I felt it needed something more, so I took my black card snippets and used the free die from tattered lace and cut away some of the pattern, keeping a little bit for the top right corner. I've also sprayed with CC irridescent glitter and pearl diamond the papar and the images.
Finally I am ready to enter the CD Sunday challenge - silhouettes! and as I used snippets I'm also off to the snippet playground with this card.

Halloween

Although my card yesterday was Halloween related it was a birthday card, so today I have a Halloween card for you.
I don't usually do Halloween cards, but I received one myself and so felt I should send one back!
I took a freebie which was the little spider and tiled him in MCS to create the background paper and coloured it to match the freebie "poster". I used a spellbinder tattered die to cut some black card as a mount and then used the original spider as an accent.
I'd like to enter this card into:-
Cute Card Thursday challenge - Trick or treat
The Male Room challenge - Halloween

Candy winner..............

The winner of my recent candy is..................

#19 Pinky!

thanks so much to everyone who took part. I'll email you Pinky.

Witching hour @ Ooh la la creations challenge

For this fortnight's challenge on Ooh La La our theme is "The witching hour" For my DT card I used the  Latest CDcdrom "say it with words". I really do love this cdrom and it has so many different themes on it. For my card I took the images into MCS and imposed the witch character onto the spider paper. I then tiled the witch making her smaller first to create the border. The sentiment is computer generated and the cupcake is a freebie.
We'd love to see you join in with our challenge - make sure it's spooky!

October Rudolph Day

Happy Rudolph Day everyone. I was determined to use the stamp that I won in the Snippet Playground this month - so here it is twice!
For my first card I mounted it behind the spellbinder wonderland die which I cut out of glitter card I first embossed. I then took the die that is supposed to cut out around the outside and using half of it stamped with a Crafters Companion stamp. It was a bit big for the sentiment so I used a label die for that one.
I'm also entering this into the Christmas challenge over on Allsorts this week.
Now we know the current rules of Rudolph day so............
For my second card I am showing the stamp in its full wonderful glory - I really love this stamp and so lucky to win it. I've used Paris Dusk ink by memento for all the stamping as a change from black. The sentiment on this second card is made up of Paula Pascale and Clearly besotted stamps.

Embossing

This is a card I made for my friend's 60th birthday - she is a crafter, so I try to do something a little bit different for her card. This is using the Tim Holtz dies and stamp set. I heat embossed the flowers and frame and cut the silhouette and banner from mirri card. I had these tiny peel offs which went perfectly onto the banner.
I'm entering this into the challenge at Allsorts which this week is embossing.

I'd also like to share the advent calendar I made at my recent retreat - just got to find things to go in the boxes now!

Christmas is coming @ CD Sunday

Christmas is coming this time on CD Sunday challenge. For my card I've used The Snowman and the Snowdog by Crafters companion - printing out the backing paper and using the CC Snowdog die to cut out the dog paperpiecing his ears. The stamps are also from CC.

Clearly Besotted challenge #14 - Christmas

It's a new challenge on Clearly Besotted and this time it's Christmas!
I've used the Clearly Besotted Set the Scene stamp set to stamp onto blue paper and then put a little snowfall acetate over the top. I embossed the bacground with a snowflake stamp - but it's hard to see it.
For this card I used the same set but white card background and although you can't see it (again) glitter spray on the bottom of the card.

Inspired by Nature at Ooh La La Creations challenge

It's time for a new challenge at Ooh La La Creations. This time we have #167 Inspired by Nature chosen by my teamie Pauline.
For my DT card I've used the Everyday Occasions cdrom

Using the Birds Nest image from the decoupage page and the background paper. I then used some of the background paper to die cut flowers and mount on the sides of the card. If you look carefully you will see the background paper is not one piece but several strips forming a frame.
Well that's all from me - I look forward to seeing what you do inspired by nature.
